Truly inspiring... Excuse me while I :::yaaaaawn::: This is what Kaval had been working on for so long? Weighing all of his options for this? I'm preparing myself for the underwhelming disappointment that will come when they announce our jersey sponsor...
I feel like I know where @ColinMcCarthy was today. I'll take the Avaya name for the stadium. Does this mean they will be the jersey sponsor as well? I dig it.
I have no issues with it either. All the big name techies were a pipe dream, anyway...not that Avaya's 5 billion dollar yearly revenue is anything to scoff at. It's not a pyramid scheme, so we're already better off than before.
Even putting the possible Avaya stadium-naming sponsorship aside, what's pictured there seems to be the latest, unseen to the general public (until now) rendering of The Epicenter. If this indeed comes to pass, I wonder if the San Jose Earthquakes will go the Toronto FC route and have the same company sponsor both The Ep and the jerseys. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I have to admit that I had not heard of Avaya before, or if I did it just didn't register in any way. However, they are a hi-tech firm pulling in $5billion a year in revenue, has 15,000 employees, and are headquartered in Santa Clara. Will wait to see how much money the deal is worth before I get too excited. Btw, Avaya is a spinoff of Lucent Technologies, which is a recognizable name. Overall, I like it.
People! We wanted a high tech sponsor and we freaking got one! What's your problem?! This is money in the bank. They are a big deal, whether you know them or not. So Kaval has been saying that he can only sign one sponsor in each business segment. Avaya are business communications software, which is a bit obscure. But this shouldn't preclude signing software development tools makers, or computer makers, or chip makers. And I still think that Visa will be on our jerseys, or have some other prominent sponsorship deal. This is great! There is no downside to this. This is unabashedly good news! Party on! Go Quakes!! - Mark
Avaya is ok, just hope they are not on the shirt in red. btw, once again, someone on BS here, gets info before the FO delivers it to the fans...unbelievable.
So we go from BS to AS. It is not Apple or Google or anything sexy, but it is a local hi-tech company recognized in the high-tech world. The stadium's proximity to SJC makes sense to them. I also kind of like their logo/font. Looks cool.
