I cant believe I had high hopes for this team. The defence was the most complete waste rubbish players I have ever seen. Kim sang ho single handedly relegated gangwon and now adds another one to his resume. I hope never see this idiot ever again.

It's kind of ironic how last time we went out at group stage, it was also with plenty of talents... Lee CS, Park JS, Cho JJ, Choi TU, etc. Now this generation with similar amount attacking talent won't get to experience the U-20 World Cup stage. Sad. (another fact: assistant coach for that 2000 team? Yes, Kim SH )

At least we are already qualified for the next one, being the hosts, and have talents like Lee SW and such to commandeer that one...and at least the U-16 squad looked more promising in terms of Defence. I believe Baek SH would still be eligible for that too, so looking forward to it. But hopefully with a better coach than Choi JC.

As for the talents for this generation, hope the likes of Seo MW, Hwang HC (who was not utilized enough nor properly IMO) etc continue to progress and transition well into senior stage.

This Vietnam-U-19 was a first-half team. They played great in the first halves of each game but tired down in the second halves. If they could keep up in the second halves I believe they would've been a top contender. China was by far the weakest team in this group, how we made it out alive I'll never know. Actually i guess we have to thank our GK Zhou Yuchen and some poor finishing from Japan, Korea and Vietnam.

I still don't understand why things don't click in China. Players aren't bad individually but it just never happens. How Vietnam got to play better football than China in a rapid span of time, I'll never understand.

Thanks, but I think that's as far as we go. Middle eastern teams are typically much more clinical in front of goal and we always struggle alot more against those teams. I can't see us getting past Iraq nor Qatar

How can guy so called "manager" not be able to read a game? He takes out gunhee when we actually need more attackers and using longballs. He shouldnt have started should hqve rotated the attack. A sub would have made made more impact.

And that midfield. ..how the fck did a US lower division player play all matches out of nowhere.

They just aren't used to playing short passing football. We have been playing long ball tactics since who knows when and it never works out but it never changes. Just recently Chinese teams are trying to play more short passing but it's kind of hard to just switch it up when they're so used to it. Japan and Korea can play short passing style with their eyes closed because they've been practising this kind of style from the roots. Vietnam made our players look like amateurs at times.

I still cannot believe this has happened. All our youth nts have done well this year including a shiny gold ag medal
This u19 was supposed to at least make the top 4. Yes we were concerned with the defence before and it did turn out bad as we sorta expected, but there was so many great options in attack. He picked slim and shit midfield which I think was the biggest error as there was no link in the middle. The midfield being poor started it then our shaky defence exploded as a result and attack had no combination.

Kim Sang ho ruined so much with this.

How Kim Sang-Ho got appointed as the U-20 manager in the first place is beyond me.

May I also mention the TERRIBLE choice with his player rotation for the three games... The back four and the two DMF started ALL three games when there was only a DAY in between each of the matches... was not a surprise at all that they all constantly got beaten in speed and looked totally gassed by the second half of this game. In contrast, Japan pretty much changed nearly half their squad from the second Vietnam game.... they knew this was the game to put it all up on the line for the whole way.

Kim SH needed to make up his mind on which game to focus on to win after we beat Vietnam... either go all in with the China match (where he rotated... attackers of all areas, putting them out of sync..) or for the final game against Japan... ESPECIALLY when we had that massive Goal difference advantage. But he just went conservative and played scared, played to tie against both teams.... it's just simply baffling.

    - Went 6 straight games without scoring to start the season

    - 12 straight league games without a win

    - Last place in the 2011 season: 29 games 3W 6D 20L (Winning percentage of 10.3% ) 30 games 14 goals scored (0.46 goals per game)

    - Last place in the 2012 season 19 games 5W 2D 12L (Winning percentage of 26.3%)

    Grand total of 48 games 8W 8D 32L (Winning percentage of 16.6%)

.... and this guy became the head coach of one of our more promising attacking generations how....??? o_O:mad:

    Edit: His interview...

Yeah... sure... riiiight... play from the beginning to tie Japan then lay the blame on Baek SH when we put him in only after we went behind...

    Problems with our youth coaches:
    - Lee Gwang-jong (U23): Defensive-wise, the team was good, but everything else was sh!t.
    - Kim Sang-ho (U19): Had talented individuals. Didn't know how to use them.
    - Choi Moon-sik (U17): Without Lee Seung-woo, he would have been screwed.

"As the defending champions of this tournament I would like to apologise to the Korean fans who have supported the team, I feel deeply disappointed," said Korea Republic coach Kim Sang-ho.

"Unfortunately we hit our peak in the first game of this tournament and maybe my players got a little too over-confident after that and we did not achieve the required results thereafter,"

You put out the same core of players 3 goddamn times in 5 days, of course they peak in their first game  Then he proceeds to blame the players...:cautious:

Losing the Japan is not crazily unexpected. Drawing China is.

Can't fault everything on the manager. Granted, I didn't agree with his tactics and player selection but excluding Seo Myun Won (who i think should have played as #10 since he cut in and stayed there) and Kim Gun-Hee, the players weren't very good. Team had about 1 or 2 weeks of training together if I'm not mistaken.. so, it clearly showed lack of cohesiveness (but so did U-17, except they had LSW to bail them out).

edit: I really wished PSH played all 3 games considering his ban. also, he should have played in double six role considering his role is like "Ki" with Barca youth. The two DMFs were terrible in controlling the tempo of the game (along with some slack passing).

I don't know, lack of cohesiveness was one thing and obviously expected, but not properly rotating core players in MF/DF knowing that you have three matches in 5 days... I find it pretty difficult to blame the players, seeing them constantly beaten by fresh Japanese wingers with just pure speed today. And this is from a guy who boasted before the tournament he has a "deep" squad to work with. They were so tired out by the end today that they couldn't even play 뻥축구 properly, and had no shots in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Not to mention that apparently (heard this during the KBS N broadcast of the game), Kim Sang Ho had an EXTRA training session after the China match because of their failures in that, much less rest the players... what is this, KNT from the 70/80's or the North Korean team?
