Nah dude, Punyed got red carded in the 30' minute for fighting, your matchtracker is wrecked. Just kidding, yeah he played the whole 90 minutes, plus he took a couple shots on goal.
No wonder they lost 3-0 then! Haha, you actually had me half-believing that for a second. Here's a report on the game from UEFA.com with extensive quotes about the game and the whole Europa League adventure. No direct mention of Punyed. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleagu...586/match=2015140/postmatch/report/index.html
Inter coach Mazzarri after the match: "I liked Johannsson, Punyed and Finsen. They could do well in many large European leagues." And today Punyed spoke of his delight of being selected into the El Salvador national team: "I'm very happy. I have never been selected for the national team before so this is a big step for me." http://www.mbl.is/sport/efstadeild/2014/08/22/punyed_er_i_aefingahop_el_salvador/
Random Punyed update: Stjarnan are still in 2nd, although they are now 2 point behind FH. Punyed has played in 17 games (out of 18) with 13 starts. He has 2 goals, the most recent being the opener/game-winner in a 2-0 win over Keflavik this weekend.
It looks like Punyed got called up for EL Salvador, but he didn't make the final squad for the Central American Cup?
If I were El Salvador, I'd call him up.... It'd be a great opportunity for him to find a way into the international arena.
He's been called up for a couple of friendlies with El Salvador in October: El Salvador’s roster for Oct. friendlies in U.S. v. Colombia, Ecuador. (via @elsalvadorfc) Four from NASL. pic.twitter.com/RO8OUO84Hi— Jon Arnold (@ArnoldcommaJon) October 3, 2014
And Stjarnan win the Icelandic title on the final day of the season with a win in stoppage time. Pablo came on in the 56th minute. Pablo is likely the only American to win a title this year abroad (Ventura Alvarado should win one in Mexico but he rarely plays) Combining the dramatic title and the El Salvador call-up, it was quite the week for Pablo.
It's really been quite the come up for both Stjarnan and for Pablo! They played so well in their first time at the Europa League, won the domestic league and now they're off to the Champions League next year! I have a question about the El Salvador national team call-up; let's pretend he doesn't play the 2 friendlies against Colombia and Ecuador and he's benched the whole 90 minutes for both games... could he still get a chance at receiving a call up for the USMNT since he didn't play a minute for ES? Just wondering.
Even if he plays in a friendly he can still switch to the US or any other country, as long as he is eligible to represent them when he plays. If he doesn't play, he can switch to the US even if he weren't a citizen now.
Ah ok! Cos I thought that if he played the Colombia and Ecuador games he can no longer have a chance of receiving a USMNT call up. It'd be really interesting if he DID get a call up from USA in the future, but I doubt it though; unless he signs to a better team in a better league, I believe he can do that. His dream is playing in Bundesliga, I'd love it if he played there for sure! Whew!
They had 15 wins and 7 draws. They beat the 2nd place team in the last game, FH, home of YA Sean Reynolds, who had 15 wins, 6 draws, and the 1 loss to Stjarnan.
Two nearly undefeated teams doesn't say much for the rest of the league, though they have perfected the art of the draw.
Stjarnan lost 2-0 at Celtic Park without Punyed (Gold Cup). He should be back for the home game which is on Wednesday.
Started and went 90' at LM, but lost 1-3 at home and were eliminated by Celtic. http://www.flashscore.com/match/rBYst8lT/#lineups;1
