Man... I don't know if Chiriboga is acting like a retard or is a retard. I cannot believe he blamed Arroyo and Valencia regarding the current crisis going on in the FEF. Wow. Seriously, he must think Ecuadorian public is stupid as s-h-i-t. Then he has the audacity to say that the league isn't going through a crisis. I mean wow! Chiriboga went full retard today. He just keeps digging his own grave. I hope he keeps getting interviewed so that he says more stupid shit like he did today. Then more he opens his fat mouth, the more people start to see how mediocre of a person he is.

It's not really mediocrity more than it is complacence. Think about it, for over a DECADE he has been in the drivers seat of the FEF, and with that control came money and power....so much money and power that auditors are being commissioned daily to try and quantify expenses made at the FEF- since apparently there's a transparency issue with money.

As to him going full retard. That's definitely true. What you're seeing now is a desperate man who is finally seeing the years and years of frustration boil over. I think there are so many problems that he can't actually understand how deep the crisis actually is. It's a perfect storm of issues that will ultimately lead to his demise (hopefully). But on the flip side, his connections and politicking are so deep at lower levels of Ecuafutbol, I'm also concerned that he's done enough from a lot of little actors to quiet the large voices- after all, it is one vote, one club.

I agree. I've always said that the Ecuadorian, Colombian, and Brazilian players by nature are physically the most gifted of the continent. Genetics playing a great deal in why I'm saying this. I'll put Luis Canga as an example. That kid is huge for an 18 year old and has great quality as a center back. In other countries like Bolivia, Chile, and even in Argentina you won't find players with that build at that age. So in that aspect, we have an advantage. Marlon De Jesus at 18 looked like a 21 or 22 year old. Felipe Caicedo, let's not even talk about. He's a bull and always was physically gifted. If you look at Jonathan Gonzalez, that kid is physically fitted to play in a european league without any problem. Same with Gruezo who is a starter in Stuttgart.

This is what these club teams need to notice. The ecuadorian player is physically gifted AND they are put to the challenge every week when it comes to testing their physical condition and capabilities. I think sometimes we overlook the fact of the ecuadorian player being able to go to la costa and play in hot and humid conditions and then later go to the high altitude cities of Quito, Ambato, Cuenca, etc. These are all things that the ecuadorian player is naturally BUILT for. It's not something that players from other countries would be able to adapt to so easily or naturally we do.

And that's what makes us unique. But some club teams fail to pay it any mind and sometimes lack interest in investing in their youth systems. That's where the real money is at- you build a great player that will bring your club success and the investment isn't anywhere near as much as bringing in a foreigner. In addition to that, you will spark interest from club teams outside the country (Europe, Mexico, etc.) that will pay the big bucks for these guys. The problem is these teams don't have patience. Independiente plays with a BUNCH of players from their youth systems in their starting team and is in the top 3 positions of the cameponato. Last year they were the vice campeon. That's admirable. I'm glad Liga de Quito caught on and is doing the same now. We signed 16+ players last season and it got us no where. This season we finally tried out a different formula by investing our time in the youth and it has us in 5th place w/ great possibilities to finish off 4th which isn't bad for a team who just made 3 juveniles debut this season. For the good of our futbol, I would wish other teams could go in the same direction. Emelec is also another team to applaud b/c they have the perfect balance and understanding of what investing time in the youth system is, as well as signing the right amount of players every season w/o over exaggerating in the number of recruits. It figures why their pockets are the most filled in the last few years

Overall, the primera etapa had one consistent team throught out the 22 games and it was Emelec, Independiente had moments but flopped when it counted, BSC and Liga showed interesting things but in my opinion it was too little too late. Catolica went downhill and I predict a poor performance in la Sudamericana, Liga de Loja also came up short, Nacional, Manta, el Ponchito and Cuenca have to be thinking about el descenso as a very realistic probability, D. Quito has bigger worries right now and Olmedo will be Olmedo, mid table team.
A lot of players gave things to talk about, Romario Caicedo, Jonathan Gonzales, Sornoza, Mena, Christian Suarez and Anangono were great additions, I am looking forward to the Segunda etapa, Liga, BSC and Inependiente might be able to steal it but only if Emelec goes through a slump. if I had to wager money in this, Emelec repeats.

Romario Caicedo started off good y se fue apagando. Jonathan Gonzalez has been consistent but not as effective as Mena, Penilla, or Sornoza- all three players who have a significant number of assists and goals and have performed at a great level throughout the entire Primera Etapa. Miller has gone from menos a mas which is a good sign. If there's no injuries, we'll see the best of Miller in the Segunda Etapa, but it's undeniable he's entering his best moment of the season right now. Oyola could've been another player I would've put in there over Fernando Hidalgo, but IMO Hidalgo has been very consistent this year w/ few performances that were less than acceptable. It's been his best year since he's been in Liga IMO. I was debating whether to put Mario Pineida or Jose Madrid for the right back position as well, but I gave it to Madrid b/c his improvement has been very significant compared to what was seen last season.

I think the Segunda Etapa will not be easy for Emelec. Let's recall that they are going to be playing Copa Sudamericana, meaning their focus might be driven elsewhere during a certain time in this part of the year. Independiente will continue fighting up top IMO, but again....I don't think it will be enough. But they will definitely give a fight. The rise of Liga in the last few months and BSC's recent rise with Ruben Israel tell me that Emelec will have a run for their money. BSC being the one w/ more possibilities to get into the final if Emelec doesn't win the Segunda Etapa. Liga is a very young team that I think will fully burst in the 2015 season during the Primera Etapa and at that point they will look no further than to going for the first spot and winning the campeonato. But this year, since it's a team that is under construction, the aim is to make it into an international competition for next year w/ Copa Libertadores being the priority. IMO, ending up in the top 4 positions at the end of the season in the Accumulated Table is a win for Liga and will be a thumbs up that shows we have improved and are going in the right direction. That being said, if Liga were to win the Segunda Etapa it will be a surprise and will only speak of how great of a coach Zubeldia is. I'd rather not keep my hopes too high, but I do believe Liga will be in the top 4 positions come December and undoubtedly be participating in an international tournament next season.

As far as BSC goes, eyes on Cristian Suarez, Ely Esterilla, and Cristian Penilla. IMO, van a dar de que hablar en esta etapa. The competition these next few months is going to be much more interesting than the primera etapa.

Chiriboga is out of control, that whole Ronny Santos thing was just a dirty move by la FEF, personal checks to D. Quito personnel, not providing expenses reports for the Brazil 2014 trips, clubs not being paid for TV rights.

the FEF vice president said that they are a model federation in the world LMFAO. I swear all I can do is laugh at these things lately because they're like parodies. It's either that or these f*cking morons think we're some dumb ass idiots that don't know what the hell is going on.

Man, this campeonato just got better, Emelec losing 2 weeks in a row and a poor home game in Sudamericana tells me that they might have found a bump in the road.
Big props to IDV goal on Friday, we all got used to that triangle huh, Sornoza to Gonzales the Gonzales to Angulo, great goal.
El Clasico, as usual had it's suspense and controversies, Miller giving away trading his extra shirt to his brother before the game? I bet he regretted that today, specially with the game he was having, Narvaez probably played his best Clasico yet, Blanco scoring after that lightning run by Suarez, oh man great game.

Alex Bolanos was freakin great yesterday in El Clasico. He has to be the best #5 the country has right now without a doubt as far as form goes. I have not seen Alex Bolanos have a single bad game since the campeonato came back into play after the World Cup. If only he would've been more disciplined in the earlier part of his career...smh.

Shameful what happened with Miller yesterday. How the f*ck does Emelec (a professional team) not have another 2 or 3 jerseys as back up for Miller. His jersey got torn I believe and he didn't have a back up one? I didn't know he gave his brother his back-up jersey, but STILL there should be at least 2 more to back that up. Many things can go wrong in a game. You can tear one, the next one can have blood on it, the next one could have some other type of problem, etc. etc. Shame on Emelec having to sub him out simply b/c he didn't have another jersey to replace the one that ended up getting torn. I don't know if anyone caught what Miller did when he found out he had to get subbed out b/c there wasn't a back up jersey, but supposedly he started kicking everything he saw in his sight and went ham. That's probably the one downfall this kid has- his temper. I think that's the one thing that separates him from an ex NT player like Mendez, por que talento tiene de sobra. I don't blame him for being angry, but Miller has trouble controlling his temper. From what I hear, he has changed his lifestyle off the field and is 100% dedicated to his profession since he returned from the MLS last year which is why this is the best year he's having, but from the looks of it I think his anger is one thing he has trouble controlling. Anyways regarding the clasico yesterday, Emelec era uno con Miller y otro sin Miller yesterday and that was evident. Once he left the field, BSC had more control over them and Emelec couldn't attack as much as before.

I agree with barcelonista, Narvaez had a good game yesterday, but when Cristian Penilla made those runs yesterday no one in Emelec could stop him. Penilla is a MUST on the NT. There's no other mediapunta on the left that can work like that kid. He recovers a TON. I swear I don't know where this kid gets the lungs to run back full speed and recover and immediately break away explosively and get by so many defenders at that pace. I really wanna see this kid give Jeff Montero a hard time. That would be an amazing battle for the starting spot and would give Vizuete and any other coach a huge headache on who to start. I'll say it now, I think Penilla is the better option. He can do what Montero does, but he's more effective at it. I remember a few days ago in that first half of Barcelona vs. Libertad the guys at Fox Deportes were in shock watching him play. They kept on asking questions to Andres Guschmer about him.

for those of you that missed the game yesterday. Great match.

At 9:03 he literally dashes passed Narvaez and gives Ismael Blanco a great ball in front of goal.
7:13 Bagui had to foul him to stop him lol
7:54 putting someone else to shame
8:23 makes Pedro Quinonez look stupid and gets fouled
11:38 nice pass to Cristian Suarez (when does Montero give nice passes like these ?)

How good is Penilla at recovering the ball? Do you guys think he can be the next Ayovi as a converted LB? Ayovi doesn't play LB at all in his club except for the NT... maybe we can plug Penilla in there and Montero up front. Just a thought. I think it be sick if he can play LB since he can run up and down like crazy. Has nice passes like Ayovi does too.

Penilla is basically another striker bro. There's no way you can put him at left back. The fact that he can recover the ball and still explosively move up the field speaks highly of him. To me it says he has potential to play in a top league in europe with a high chance of being successful. Look at Antonio....one thing that made him stand out was that he could attack and defend really well in all his years at Manchester. That's why Nani nor Young could never bench him for long periods of time. Antonio was always more complete. An attacker who can move down the field and help you recover/pressure is almost a standard in top european leagues and is a token player to have on a NT. In the past year Luis Suarez was referred as the best #9 in the world and it's not just because of what he does up front, but b/c of the sacrifice he puts into pushing back to recover and pressure opponents. That doesn't mean Luis Suarez should be a left/right back...it simply means he's a beast in his position b/c there's not many players in the world that can replicate his work rate.

Walter became a left back but he was a left midfielder originally so it was easier to make that adjustment. Plus there were no players in the left back position at the time who could compete at international level (contrary to our reality now where there's Mario Pineida, Cristian Ramirez, and finally if push comes to shove there's Gio Nazareno who's in a great moment currently in BSC.....very soon Gabriel Corozo could very much be in this list of names at some point in the Qualifier). It was also easier for players like JC Paredes or Antonio to do the same as Walter b/c the originally played in positions where that change was more accessible. JC paredes had played as carrilero before and Antonio had the characteristics to move back on the pitch when it was needed. But Penilla is 100% an attacker with the lungs to go back and forth. That's what makes him stand out in his position. I remember Reinaldo Rueda saying Penilla has the potential to become a crack when he included him in the list of 30 players to go to Brazil. If I remember Rueda's words correctly they were something along the lines of "no creo que ni el mismo Cristian Penilla sabe de todo el potencial que tiene". Let's see if that comes true. What I do know is that this kid has managed to gain a starting spot in a team like BSC where the pressure for results are always high and there's always 2 and sometimes 3 players per position in the attacking half, yet he's managed to not lose grip of his starting role and is obviously the best player BSC has had in the last year. His growth has taken leaps from the 2013 Penilla to the consolidated and consistent player we see now. If he's not at least nominated for the best player of the campeonato this year, it's a complete robbery.

Penilla's form is something else....goal and assist. This kid doesn't get tired. Copa and campeonato he performs at top level.

And I can say the same exact for Miller. Unstoppable this year. Sick goal and an assist today. Reminded me of this one goal he scored on El Nacional in 2010 or 2011 back when he was in Liga. Whether it's Copa or campeonato this guy is in there with a goal or an assist, if not both. Vizuete needs to take advantage of the form these guys have been in this entire season. We're approaching the end of the season and I can say Cristian Penilla, Miller Bolanos, Angel Mena, and Junior Sornoza are candidates for best player of the season. Penilla and Miller are simply unstoppable. Sin duda estos dos son jugadores de seleccion.
