If he starts scoring, we need to gauge interest. Hopefully U.S. Soccer is aware of this guy.

    Interesting word choice, Google Translate:

Offal/ˈɒfəl/,[1] also called variety meats or organ meats, refers to the internal organs and entrails of a butchered animal.

Does he qualify for an EU passport somehow, or is Belgium just that leniant? Is it easier to for Israeli players to play in Europe because they're technically part of UEFA?

So is this guy cap-tied for our Olympic team? Has he appeared in official U21 matches for Israel? If so I believe that may make him ineligible for our U23s.

Yes, he is playing in UEFA U21 action now. If that's the tourney that qualifies for the 2016 Olympics, then he can't play for the US in Rio.

I saw Israel play Honduras in Houston right before the world cup.... Israel was pretty impressive (though to be fair Honduras looked pretty bad IMO)... the odds of Israel qualifying for a WC through Uefa aren't impossible... if they can get a decent draw in a play -off... but obviously if his top concern is playing in a world cup someday the US would be the best choice.... he would have to make some strides to break into the squad though.

Nice job tracking him down and good interview.

“It’d be a big honor to play for the USA national team,” Saief said. “I had good games with Israel but to play with the USA is a big honor. It’s not like playing for a small country. It’s a big country and they play every four years in the World Cup. I supported the USA at the World Cup. They did well. They played really good, hard, and fast soccer. The last game, I think they deserved to win. In the last minute they could have scored.”

Maybe he knew he was beaten and he stopped in order avoid showing up in the highlights?
