Since it's now official it makes sense to do a thread refresh.

    Nice work, D.

I think he will be a starter by the beginning of the 2015/16 season. This year will be a "work-in" year.

I'm wildly confused on when he actually will join Spurs. Does he join in the winter once MLS is done, or next summer? And if it's next summer, I wonder what he does during the Winter and Spring?

In answer to Freisland from the other thread:
"Do you really think he could be the best outside back in the world? I suppose if there was a "full back rapture" that took the rest of the fullbacks. I mean, I think DY is a good player with a lot of upside, but I would take almost any odds that he will not be the best outside back in whatever country he is in, muchless the world".

DY has great raw material and for a guy with one year as a pro to get wooed by Spurs and Roma shows unusual potential. His speed is crazy and his touch looks quite decent. The chance on any player of his age becoming "best in world" is tiny. But DY has a better chance than most.

I'd fully support Tottenham changing their nickname from Spurs to the Fighting Owls. Who? THE FIGHTING OWLS!

Still think the best YA title was Thomas Delaney at FC Kobenhaven. Title was: "Is that FCKer even a Yank?"

Thats a good one. Maybe its just because the Ted Lasso thing is kind of recent, but I thought this thread title was great.

Yedlin had an assist tonight in Seattle's demolition of Chicago in the USOC Semis.

Not a great GIF, will try to find a better one.

What kinda odds you giving? I think can be pretty good. He will not, however, turn out to be the best outside back in the world. I'm fairly certain of that one.

Yes... anybody know when he is joining the Spurs? Is it now, winter (after MLS season is over) or next year?

    Any info would be appreciated.

Edit: Found it in the other thread thanks to @thetank123

It's kinda a silly debate which is why I'm joining in, but "best in the world" is a rarity at most positions isn't it? I agree with you, the chance he will become the best outside back in the world is zero or less, but who is the best back in the world? Could he become the nebulous "world class"? I think he has a shot, even if it's a pretty low percentage.

I think there may be a bit of irrational exuberance in regard Yedlin. I think the guy can be pretty good, but when posters start throwing around things like "best in the world" or even "world class" they are talking about one of the best, if not the best field player the US has ever produced, as I think it is impossible to argue we have ever had the "best in the world" at an position that does not wear gloves and use their hands.

"World Class" is a notoriously amorphous designation, but if Yedlin becomes known as one of the top dozen US players I'll be thrilled.

I wish the guy well and expect him to have a nice career if he can avoid injury, but I also don't think it's silly to suggest that some realism might be in order.
