Minnesota MLS playing in the Viqueens stadium is a dream. It will never happen. This entire "football" stadium project is a joke. The "planned" finances are not all there.

The Viqueens owner is an evil criminal who shouldn't be allowed to own ANY public sports franchise. Taxpayers are paying for part of this stadium to keep this jackass wealthy.

National Sports Center Contract Extension: Minnesota United today announced a three-year contract with the National Sports Center to continue playing home games at NSC Stadium through the 2016 season. The club has a rich history at NSC Stadium, including the 2011 North American Soccer League Soccer Bowl championship victory over Fort Lauderdale. - See more at: http://mnunitedfc.com/2013/11/2013-review-club-announcements/#sthash.Sidi3zKZ.dpuf

Is there any hope for something like this? Does the current ownership group have that kind of money and would they be willing to spend it?
    Also, what are these "stalls"?

The owner of MN United, Bill McGwire, is a billionaire. I have no answers for other questions.

I actually think this is a really great move for the team. If they want to do a couple of big games at a venue downtown, that's fine, but building continuity anywhere--even if it's Blaine--will be key for this team. Maybe at the end of a three year lease they'll have built up enough enthusiasm to start thinking about building their own venue.

I hate the drive to Blaine, and no matter what anybody says, it is an issue for would-be fans, but if the club can build attendance out there, then they'll boom with an eventual downtown move.

I know there is no plans for this but I have a plan for them to build a stadium across the street from MOA, they could fit about a 20-25,000 seater there (If they stayed in the NASL they really wouldn't need anymore)
Here is where I am thinking of putting it click here

I believe that is one of the two sites the team is looking at.

I'm not gonna name names, but I know a guy who knows a guy...

anyway, a certain big name team owner is making bids for concrete. it's gonna happen, it's just about where and when.

In this instance I love positive rumors. It's either the Twins or the Wolves purchasing concrete. Ha.

From what I know, the Wolves aren't in the bidding. It's red versus purple. I'm hoping red wins. Shoot, we all hope red wins.

Why is that? The Wilf's wouldn't even want to build a new stadium. They're only about making money. What the Wilf's would do, is move them indoors into the new vikes stadium, so we look completely empty on TV, playing on turf, and nothing would change besides the location.

because they are cheapskates . At least the Vikings go after big name FA once in while. The Pohlads re-upped Gardenhire contracted for two years despite back to back to back less then 90 win seasons.

Publicly, United hasn't said if they are interested in a MLS team or not. We assume so and if they are interested I hope for their sake they win. Nothing would bug me more than seeing United working real hard to develop a pro soccer culture only to see it go the way of the Vikings. At least we know United care about the on and off field stuff pro soccer clubs do. We don't know what the Vikings would do if they owned a MLS franchise.

That's what scares me, if the Wilf family gets it, does that mean they'll move United to MLS status, or will they just start a new franchise from scratch? I hope it's not the latter.

Sadly, I would venture to guess United goes the way of the dodo bird.

ugh, i really hope not. I grew up at the MN Thunder Academy, raised as a dark cloud, and now that I'm living in the US again, I really would hate to see it. I helped out at tryouts this year, and talked with Manny for awhile. Such a nice guy, and a decent coach too. Let's pray that our success remains, so they have no reason to toss the team.

This weekend 30,000 plus people will be attending the games which should help to grow the game of soccer. IMO, this off season will be interesting to see the moves United make on and more importantly off the field.

I'll be there, third row! United should win it. Ugh, do we have an ETA on Campos?

It sounds like he is done for the year. They signed a striker on loan yesterday.
