Haven't been to Rhinegeist but I like their beer. May have to check that out. Is it a decent place to watch?
Probably not for Cup watching. On another day it'd be a good spot, but I doubt you'd find too many Gooners hanging out there Saturday. Rhinehaus just seems to be the spot, for whatever reason.
I'll be in New Orleans for the first match, anywhere in the french quarter worth checking out for it?
Take the trolley up to Finn McCools and meet up with the NOLA Gooners. http://www.arsenal.com/usa/fanzone-usa/usa-supporters-club/new-orleans-la
Thanks, I saw that one listed but were staying near the CBD so I wanted to see if there was anywhere else that might have it. Finn's it is.
Finn's is worth the trip. It's only a short ride on the trolley and the NOLA Gooners are really friendly folk. I met a bunch of them in February and just saw them again in NYC. Get in touch and let them know you are coming.
Molly Malones, just met Jonathon from the Kentucky Gooners this weekend. http://www.arsenal.com/usa/fanzone-usa/usa-supporters-club/louisville-ky
Turns out there are two Molly Malone's locations and my dumb ass went to the wrong one. They had the game on but I was the only Gooner in the bar and ended up watching with a family of City fans telling me how much more the game meant to Arsenal once they went down 1-0.
In Des Moines, Arsenal fans will be gathering at Keg Stand that will open early for all matches with beer/bloody mary/mimosa specials and serve breakfast pizza, burritos, waffles and beer candied bacon.
You should enter that venue here:http://www.arsenal.com/usa/news/features/arsenal-bars Just scroll to the bottom.
And here's another decently looking soccer-pub listing I came across recently: http://www.socceramerica.com/article/59911/where-to-watch-european-soccer.html It's not an Arsenal-specific list, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
There are 2 other pubs on 14th within a couple blocks of the Pig that have become Arsenal hangouts because it's basically impossible to get in there, and my understanding is O'Hanlon's has gotten just as crazy.
So I'm just getting around to looking at how/whether football will overlap/interfere with my trip to Europe in May and it looks like I'll be in Salzburg the afternoon we play Man United. Seems like I'm not gonna want to miss that one. Initial research leads me to a place called Murphy's Law Irish Pub about 10 minutes from my hotel. Seems like a no brainer, anybody have an opinion / alternative / know the city well enough for some advice?
When we were there for the Red Bull friendly years ago we went to the Shamrock Irish Pub. Fun place. http://www.shamrocksalzburg.com/
Google shows that the 2 pubs are 3 mins apart. Now I just have to wait and see if/when the League changes the game to a Sunday kickoff by virtue of it being the best game of all the fixtures. Saturday would be far more ideal for me.
Salzburg is a lovely town. I stayed across the street from that bar in Hotel Stein? It had a nice rooftop patio.
Forgive me for not re-reading this whole thread before I ask: Anybody know of a good place to watch our match on/near Swarthmore College this Saturday 12pm?
A friend and I watch a lot of matches at Kildare's in West Chester. It is usually open for early matches and will certainly be open for Saturday. Call ahead just to be sure. I always get the full Irish breakfast.
Thanks but west chester is not quite close enough to be able to catch the first half. I'm tied up in Swarthmore til 12:30.
Philly Gooners meet at Misconduct Tavern. You might want to ask here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/phillygooners/
The Pint in Vancouver is the gooners pub in town these days. Sounds like one needs to arrive early (like 8 AM if not sooner) for the cup final if you're planning on attending
I may be in NYC for this Saturday's cup final. For those of you know the scene there better than I, what do you think the chances are of me getting into Blind Pig or O'Hanlons(?) at noontime for that match? Or are there other Gooner pubs I should know about? Thx.
