and still the most important goals in the group stage for you came from individual efforts from german born players (Brooks and Jones), of course your home grown players have gotten better but so have players from all over the planet, the whole low class in the football world has gotten closer to the so called powerhouses but that doesn't mean that the US is doing something special as most of you guys say, if anything you guys are lagging behind Costa Rica and, even if you don't want to admit it, behind us (in terms of player development of course), you still depend on foreign born and raised players to build a competitive team.

Just be honest with me, do you think that without your dual nationals you would be in the knockout stage?

and better I stop posting about this here, I can feel a warning coming.

Just imagine, however, if Lebron, Brady, or Kobe grew up playing sawker? Insta-world domination...wouldn't even be a contest....America!

Oh no, we have our share of people like that and worse.

Those who think immigrants or naturalized or dual nationals can never be patriotic, and whine about some Mexican kid singing the anthem. There are such types of people everywhere. We have no moral high ground at all.

Better genetic material. And god. God created the world 6000 (or is it 4000?) years ago, and waited till Mericuh showed up to personally bless every citizen. As long as they were white. And male. And wealthy/middle class.

It's odd, however, that the German players receive a pass while the Mexica-American players were being raked over the coals by the die hard fan base as not playing an American style implicitly questioning their Americaness (sic)...that is my main issue with the Nad fanbase......many of them tend to be reactionary xenophobes when it comes to Latin Americans, specifically Mexican-Americans.....prior to this forum I was a passive supporter of the USMNT...this forum changed all of that...equating a football team with patriotism is stupid and dangerous...especially in this country with the prevalent attitudes towards (non white looking) Mexicans and Latin Americans...

Let's not forget that some of these same folks were talking noise about Brooks not deserving to be in the team.

Yep, that's my point...Mexican Americans are much more American than the German based players....they speak the language and have lived their lives here but they are not considered American by their fanbase...or if they are their patriotism is questioned...eff that...the double standard is ignorant at best and outright racist at worst.

I'm not sure what your point is other than america has racist xenophobes... we do... it's not even close the majority of the population thankfully and certainly not to be applauded nor accepted... Most countries do have some level of this, however fringe.

But not liking Tri fans and vice a versa is more about healthy rivalry for most. It doesn't make them racist. It's all in good fun...

Progress to a degree, but let's be honest here. Your coach scoured the world to try and find any player with any kind of connection to the US to bring them onboard. Players that had no interest or intent of ever playing for the US, then he filled in the rest of the spots with who he had.

I would say 2002 was more progress than this considering they were all homegrown players IIRC.

Lol at the American footballing "progress". Getting Germany's leftover's leftovers, promising World Cup roster spots to 4th division players. Half the squad has never been in their country longer than a layover.

It's going to hit them really hard when they get brought down to reality by Belgium or Argentina.
