omfg subscribed. It looks like our injuries were a 5th deviation (guestimating) during the gh game http://bjsportmed.com/content/36/5/354.full.html yeah the impact factor sucks, but so what... @Guinho i can provide a ton of data showing the europa league is a competitive barrier to entry in the cl and that 40% of el teams are relegated within two years of el participation. I had an extra slave for a semester
Honestly that second item on Europa League is intriguing and probably should be published somewhere. Arguably, it has held back Spurs for the past few seasons and consistent with the reason that Liverpool was able to aspire to winning the league was they had finished below Europa League qualifying the season before. Liverpool played many fewer matches in 2013/14.
oh I should mention the 40% excluded the big 16 teams of europ's big five leagues e.g bm, rm, mu, ch etc. My problem is sports journals aren't ranked at all and good management journals would say, so what? It's been sitting on my drive for three years now. Anyway one significant and powerful explanatory variable for relegation is el participation t-1, t-2.
In recent years I've adopted the attitude of 'get it out there' even if in a low level journal, better published than not, even if in a low level journal. I've got things in low level journals that are cited by others because, well, in the end if folks find it interesting it will get spread around. Nowadays, with electronic search, Google, Academia.edu, Vita.com, ResearchGate, etc. it is easier than ever to find things even in obscure journals. Also, SageOpen has recently dropped its publication fee to $99. http://sgo.sagepub.com
Analysis of covariance that takes into account some kind of 'total team value' or 'total team income' (I think Forbes has that data?) could make that exclusion of the top 16 big teams sensible. They have so much money that it doesn't matter… what the story becomes is even more clear: is what looks like a reward or transition to the top is actually a barrier to entry because the new income from Europa is insufficient to handle the needed players for the additional competition dates; it effectively protects the top team's elite positions.
I will reiterate it again, my school would be happy to host this if we wanted to have a onsite conference.
may I humbly state that I love bs peer review. allow me to respond in kind to reviewer THIS!!! yeah, it absolutely baffeles me why aspiring mid table teams have not caught on to this almost literal valley of death. edit: although I haven't done any lit review in 3ish years. but overall it is sort of an interesting strategy for cartels to get labor at distressed valuations...
Being a fan of an Eastern team (PAOK), it's always interesting to me to see how fans of Western teams view the Europa League. We don't have the ability to seriously compete in the Champions League (got knocked out of the last round of qualifiers before the CL group stage last season) and so I would welcome a decrease in the amount of Western teams in the Europa League as it's actually a tournament we enjoy and are able to compete in. It gets frustrating seeing teams that drop out of the CL group stage get dropped into Europa League in the knockout stages and wreak havoc on those teams. In our view, it feels like the whole thing is tilted in favor of the western teams as they're the ones that'll drop in later and naturally be stronger choking out competitive opportunities and extra gate receipts for eastern teams.
I agree with you on this. The Champions League losers dropping into the Europa league is terrible and is simply a a way to ensure that the rich stay rich by getting make-up gates if they have 'bad luck' in Champions League.
I think fifteen people who expressed interest originally are still active on the site. And that gives us some critical mass. Agreed about Zoom. In.
I will not speak, but I would consider watching on Zoom. In addition, I do not like when something on Zoom or any other website can only be watched live, unless it requires participation like for work. I like when videos from events are uploaded to YouTube afterward.
