Newly identified: Estanislao Argote (Spanish international left winger of the 70s and 80s playing for Athletic Bilbao).
Couple of Englishmen: Trevor Brooking (looks two-footed though, 1960s-1980s West Ham United midfielder) Roy McFarland (1970s Derby County center back) Stan Bowles (1970s Queens Park Rangers midfielder, forward) All of them international players of course.
Besides Argentina/Uruguay/Brazil, the other hotbed of lefties comes from Eastern Europe. Here is an all-time team of left-footers from that area of the world: Yashin Mihailovic-Katanec-Jarni Berger-Balakov-Hagi-Djazic Puskas-Suker-Stoichkov
Marco Antonio (late-1960s to mid-1980s Brazilian international left back playing for Fluminense, Vasco da Gama, Botafogo among others) Herbert Hein (early-1970s to mid-1980s German full back playing for 1. FC Köln and Borussia Dortmund)
Eberhard Vogel (1960s to early-1980s East German international forward playing for Karl-Marx-Stadt and Carl-Zeiss Jena) Bernd Bransch (1960s/1970s East German international sweeper playing for Chemie Halle and Carl-Zeiss Jena). Martin Hoffmann (1970s/1980s East German international left winger playing for Magdeburg)
Mexico doesn't usually produce many left-footed players of quality, here are the few I can think of: Benjamin Galindo Alberto Garcia Aspe Ramon Ramirez Rafael Marquez Carlos Salcido Ramon Morales Giovanni Dos Santos Carlos Vela
Örjan Persson (Swedish international left winger/midfielder of the 1960s and 70s who played for Dundee, Rangers and several Swedish clubs).
Matthias Döschner (East German international left winger who played for Dynamo Dresden between 1978 and 1990.
Miroslav Gajdusek (Czech international midfielder of the 1970s and 80s playing for Dukla Praha and Vitkovice)
Dieter Koulmann (1960s German midfielder playing mostly for Bayern München) Dieter Brenninger (1960s/70s German international left winger playing for Bayern München, YB Bern, Stuttgart) Jürgen Kurbjuhn (1960s to early-1970s German international left back playing for Hamburg) Gert 'Charlie' Dörfel (1960s/70s international German left winger playing mostly for Hamburg)
Sorry I can't read German, but both (the German and the much-shorter English) Wiki pages reference 'Charly' Dörfel's post-football career as a circus clown. I just skimmed the entries but did not see any reference to the origin of the nickname Charly - any ideas? The photo above suggests he actually signed autographs as Charly.
He got his nickname because as a boy he was a fan of Charlie Brown of the Peanuts. He also tried his luck as a singer in the mid-1960s
Christian Piot (Belgian international goalkeeper of the 1960s and 70s playing for Standard Liège) Jean Thissen (Belgian international defender of the 1960s and 70s playing for Standard Liège and RSC Anderlecht)
Maurice Martens (Belgian international left back of the 1960s and 70s who played for RSC Anderlecht and RWD Molenbeek) Raoul Lambert (Belgian international forward of the 1960s and 70s who played for Club Brugge)
Amazed that it took eight years for someone to name Dragan Džajić, a huge star of the 1960's and 70's. I'll name two rather famous lefties - Oleg Blokhin, a 1975 European player of the year and the all-time Soviet league and team scorer Here's his supergoal vs. Bayern in the 1975 Euro Super Cup (Bayern won the C-Cup, Kiev won the Cups Winners Cup that year) The other is Mr. Power Shot .. I mean, Herr Power Shot - Michael Tarnat
And Soviet born Hungarian national Vassily Ratz, here with a thunder foot against France in the 1986 World Cup.
And here, Tostao, who clearly had no bones in his waist, dribbles three players to set up (Pele with the final pass to Jairzinho) goal vs. England in 1970. (2.00 in)
BTW, the above game also featured a great English left fullback Terry Cooper and the Brazilian duo Paulo "Caju" Cesar and Everaldo . And here's a Soviet/ Dinamo Kiev legend Anatoliy Byshovetz, at the same 1970 WC.
