If a guy like Lamela can't get much time at Spurs, I have no idea what you guys would do with Green. Loan him out? In no way do I think he's ready for the EPL, at least not for a club near the top of the table.
Well Lamela was legitimately injured, prior to that AVB was just being a curmudgeon. I don't think he would be in the first team if the story is true he could be loaned out. That's sort of our policy anyways for players his age, they get a couple loans before they get serious looks in the first team just like Rose, Townsend, Walker, Caulker, Kane, etc. - guys like Bentaleb are anomalies. Tottenham does have a decent record of promoting players recently, you'll probably see Pritchard and Veljkovic in the first team next season. We have a partnership of sorts with Swindon Town which is why you see so many Tottenham players go there and the ones they buy from us all have buyback clauses, like Luongo. So that could be an option, shame they didn't get promoted 2 seasons ago. If they were in the Championship the partnership would be much better. It could be the case that we would loan him back to a German side immediately. Levy and Klinsmann are on speaking terms and Freund is still around maybe Klinsmann ensured him with his connects he could get him a loan in Germany if they made a bid..... IDK just speculating.
Sticking it out and making a name for himself in the Bundesliga is my personal preference for Green. With that said, there is no questioning, IMO, that Spurs need to clean house. Pochettino is a good fresh start. He needs to get rid of dead weight. I'd tell Assou-Ekotto, Dawson, Saldado, Vertonghen, Kaboul, Lennon, Sando, and Sigursson they are free to look elsewhere. Some might not agree with my list and that's perfectly okay. How that relates to bringing in guys like a Julian Green, I'm not sure. Patience is wearing think at Spurs and they may not have time for a "project" like Green. That's what my head is telling me. However, Pochettino has shown he is willing to throw youngsters in there. He gives them the confidence they need to succeed. He's not afraid to go against the grain and wrestle some feathers by giving young players a shot. It's work for him. Can it work at Spurs?? That's the million dollar question. But if Pochettino is willing to go against the grain again, Green might be the type of player he targets.
Green would likely need at least two seasons on loan before being ready physically for the premier league. I also don't think this move makes a whole lot of sense from a Spurs perspective either. Lamela, Chadli and Townsend are all sub-25 years old wingers and Spurs are rumored to be after Yevhen Konoplyanka Lennon's performances have been on the decline for the past two seasons. He works really hard which is a bonus, but he doesn't contribute a whole lot anymore when it comes to creating chances. He obviously creates space with his great pace, but his final product is still suspect and I wouldn't be surprised if he left Spurs this window for another club.
Nacer Chadli is terrible. Lennon is still twice the player he is on the wing. I know they play different positions but for all the shtick Jozy got for his 1 goal and 1 assist season with SUNDERLAND, Chadli managed a whopping 1 goal and two assists at TOTTENHAM.
Just last summer Leverkusen bought Emre Can for €5 million from Bayern. He was also a Regionalliga player with only 200 minutes of BL experience. It seemed rather ridiculous at the time. Today Leverkusen sold Can to Liverpool for €12 million. Nice profit.
Alternatively, West Ham bought Savio Nsereko for 8.5 Million Euro back in 2009. EPL clubs have generally not been a good ground for young German talents. Hitzelsperger was the last that made a break- through, I think. The rest pretty much failed or had to come back to Germany such as Ron Robert Zieler.
2m € goes to Bayern for the buy back clause they had on Can. Can was also Bundesliga ready. Green not so much. Story doesnt make sense. Quite a bit of plauer are leaving Bayern II. Im sure they would like to keep Green who has shown promise.
I don't believe in this transfer story either but the question was if anyone had ever paid €5 million for a 4th division player. And that's what Can was last summer. At that time no one could know if he was ready for the BL because he had never played there. The only difference to Green is that Can was physically stronger at the same age.
Can was featured 4 times for what its worth for Bayern. Can was ready for the Bundesliga he just couldnt break into Bayern midfield.
Some of these players are of similar quality, whereas a club like Tottenham needs to layer out its squad. It's interesting to also see what Pochettino will do with Tottenham's style because S-hampton certainly did not play like a typical EPL side under him - a lot of movement, quick passing, press. And Siggy actually was actually moved into a more central deeper role later in the season and responded very well. PS. As to young players coming or going for big bucks, had Real wanted to move Jese or Morata or Barcelona wanted to move Telio or Delofeu, there'd be a long line of suitors and they'd be walking around with fat wallets to and fro.
Last German who became good enough for the national team over here was probably Robert Huth at Chelsea
That said, Bayern II is breaking apart currently with players leaving in droves, after not having gotten promotion, so it's likely that Green will be on the move.
that is correct, went to BL to get games and viola… big move. Just need opportunity most of the time.
Or that the rumor is fabricated and just another product of silly season from UK tabloids? You can almost hear it ripple briskly through the air. Perhaps you have seen or heard tell of this report linking Tottenham with a big money move for Julian Green. I have it on great authority that this is just another UK tabloid daydream recklessly spilled into print. Gosh, it must be nice to get paid London bucks to make shit up as if these are not real humans. http://www.noshortcorners.com/2014/06/flag-goes-up.html

Don't know if it has been posted yet, but apparently Julian Green is going to write a World Cup diary "live" from the US Camp for BILD: http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/j...ian-green-schreibt-in-bild-36325082.bild.html First installment is pretty boring. I think google tranlate does a good job on it.
