Here is where to post such things as posts on players, formations and tactics. I noticed that the News thread was littered with debate of such things and not news, so here it is.

Not a bad game against Tampa Bay. Hassli probably should not have started. He wasn't making runs into the box. In fact, other than the wingers, no other playing were making the right runs when needed. I wish Marcina would have pulled Hassli off sooner. Tampa put their only shot on goal away and move on with three points.

We dominated that match .... but yeah, either Hassli should have been off at 60, or on at 70 ....

... what's up with Zahorski ? Or why didn't Touray get put up top in place of Hassli when he came on ?

    weird.

I think Zahorski is out of form right now. I don't know if he is injured or not though. Touray is better on the wing -- he lacks dribbling but has pace -- I believe he is being used the best way right now, as a pacey substitute. Not sure why Fana hasn't been used too much though.

Last I heard Zahorski is dealing with a Hammy injury.
I do agree with Fana should be used more.

Also my biggest gripe in how the Scorpions play is that they try to go over the top. With the midfield they have, they should be able to pass and hold the possession more.

Awesome second half by the Scorpions tonight. Where the heck did Billy Forbes come from? When did they sign this guy?

Billy Forbes was with us in the preseason. There was a big group of trailists, including Forbes. In the preseason match against SMU (I think that was our first match this year IIRC) Marcina put in 8-9 of the trialists on the field for the 2nd half. Our 2-0 lead turned into a 3-3 tie. Billy Forbes played very well, but that was pretty much our only bright spot (in terms of our trialists). Alen Marcina let all trialists go the next day, except for Forbes. Many people, including me, really wanted the scorps to sign him.

I am assuming he just stuck around for training after that. He wasn't signed until 2 weeks ago. He tweeted about it the day we faced the Rowdies. I was glad that we eventually did ended up signing with the scorps. A week after, he debuts, and doesn't disappoint. =)

    Here is his tweet.

Couldn't even score up a man for 60+ minutes playing against an 8th seed... Wow.

Actually just got back to San Antonio from college. Been busy with finals the past few weeks.
What is the basis behind saying Edmonton is the top defensive team? They're in 9th place now, have allowed 7 goals (more than the Cosmos, Scorpions and Minnesota), and have lost three games. It's just discouraging because at this point it's unlikely that the Scorpions will be able to compete for the Spring Title.

FCE is a better team than their record shows, took them a few games to start gelling and have played well in the Canadian Championships the past few weeks eliminating Ottawa and were robbed of beating MLS's Montreal at the last minute last Wednesday.

Very good crowd for the game with over 7K.

Yeah, I can suspect a team like FCE would be tired in League play after their Canadian championship matches. I thought the Scorpions could take advantage of FCE many logged minutes during mid-week games... I guess not. Great game by FCE honestly, especially being a man down. Pretty horrible display by the Scorpions though.

Yes, dominating the match ... creating chances ... and just being unlucky that the ball didn't find the back of the net.

Completely horrible display. For your sake, I hope you didn't have to rely on your reasoning, deduction, and opining on your finals.

Score is the only thing that mattered. No one is talking about how the Cosmos totally dominated their game against the Scorpions.... They're talking about how the Scorpions managed to score a goal against them to grab 3 important points.

So what if the Scorpions managed to dominate? If they fail to score against an undermanned team for 60+ minutes, then it's a complete failure. Securing one point at home like that is embarrassing.

I was hoping to see Billy Forbes again as a substitute but I heard that he and Julius James were out with illness. I have to agree that it was disappointing for the Scorpions not to the three points when they were up a man for so long during the game given the offensive talent on the team -- but hey, that's football I suppose. It feels like the team is a puzzle and one piece is missing. That's why I was hoping to see B. Forbes again, but there's always next week.

Pretty interesting that a lot of players were sick last weekend... Only four players available on the bench during a home game is pretty sketchy..

Best you could come up with?

Wonder why not immediate feed back from Soccer expert Darius Bieber? Oh that's right they won. The PK that Hassli hit was so forceful, I don't think anyone was stopping that shot. And great seat up on the winner, and awesome body control to get it turned towards the goal by Zahorski.

If by "a lot in common" you mean ... "are polar opposites," then yes.

It looks like the Scorpions will most likely pick up third place if the Cosmos don't loose today. The summer break begins.

Will they pick up, or release any players this summer? I can see them picking up another central attacking midfielder to back up Barrera. I don't think there is any clear alternative to Barrera on the team and if he gets injured in the longer season in the Fall, the team will be in trouble.

If I'm not mistaken, Saiko was supposed to be that back-up before his injury occurred. If he can somehow get going (like we saw with his brilliant goal that wasn't taped against Atlanta in April) then the Scorpions should be well set in the midfield for now. I can see them bringing in some defending mid-fielders though. From the game that I saw live last Saturday, the Scorpions were pretty slow getting back on Defense - especially late in the game which ultimately caused a late equalizer.

We definitely missed Richie. He was off with the El Salvador national team.

The Scorpions picked up CAM Rafael Castillo and he scored a brace in his first match with the team (one of them a PK). I'm going to toot my own horn hear and say that 'I called it'.
