We took all the tickets, but I don't think it was necessary. As long as you have 1 ticket with your name on it you should be fine. We printed our flight/hotel info to have just in case, but they didn't ask to look at it.

Glad everything worked out, Matt. Otherwise, I'd be hitch-hiking to the US/Germany match!

Sorry if this has been covered already but has anyone gone in person to the NYC consulate? How'd it go, any pertinent info?

I'm just came back from the Miami Consulate, I was able to get the free (temporary) World Cup Visa with a print screen from my account showing the tickets number and a copy of my email that show the same ticket number + my name on it.

When I left a guy asked me if they had accepted my application without a FIFA Ticket and I said yes, he went yesterday and for some reason they said No to him, he came back today (before me) to process a regular Visa.

Last thing, before they start, I spoke with an employee and explained my situation, when they spoke to FIFA they were told that everybody should get the ticket trough the mail, but I told him that FIFA will not delivery any ticket for people that got their ticket after January/February and he could check that on FIFA's website, he went inside and spoke with somebody and when he came back he told me that it's ok but they will have to verify the name and confirmation number of the tickets. I'm not sure if that's the reason why they starting accepting print out today ;). I was not the only one without a Ticket or Certificate, but remember, make sure that your print out show the Last Phase sale on the right side of the FIFA website and have a copy of your email (FIFA confirmation) that contain your full name on it.

I emailed the Houston consulate and they scheduled me down for June 6th appointment. Told them I wasn't able to go that date since I will be out of state, never got a reply so tomorrow early in the am I will be traveling 4 hours to Houston and hopefully get my visa tomorrow.

A couple of people have posted their experiences earlier, but for the most part, I don't think you're seeing a lot about NYC because their process was so easy. Just have all required documents ready, show up, take a ticket and have a seat. There's only one window for visas, but they move pretty quickly. It took me a little over half an hour to drop mine off and fifteen minutes to pick it up, a week later.

You'll get it. Just make sure you get there before 9. As soon as they go through the appointments, they will help you.
Not everyone who has an appointment arrives at 9. So, for example, someone with an 11:30am appt will most likely come at 11:15. Anytime, they have a moment before the next guy with an appt shows up, they will help walk-in (despite it being a big NO NO, LOL).

Make sure you take printed copy of the FIFA email and the visa application receipt letter.

Just to be safe, take hotel/ flight reservation papers also, even though they never asked me or anyone else.

    Good luck.

Somebody posted on facebook that they went today to the NYC consulate and their visa was only going to be available on June 2nd, so they are seeing a backlog there as well. So if you are in NYC get to the consulate ASAP to be sure that you have enough time. But yeah, the process is easy there if you have your documents in order.

Picked up my visa in LA today & it was packed house. Make sure you have enough change for the parking meters as it took about an hour+ for my visa pickup. P.S. I saw lots of parking citations on the way back to my car.

Finally home. Got there early but I had to wait until all the people that had appointments went. So didn't get out of there till about 1:40. A lot of people annoyed Regina , that's reason why I had to wait. Lol. But got my visa , ready for Brazil now.

If you walk into the consulate to get your visa, do you have to leave the physical ticket with them while they process your visa, or do you just show it to them and they let you take it?

For those who mailed in their visas, did you mail a copy of the ticket or the original ticket?

What I've read at various Brazilian consulate's sites is that if you already hold a valid tourist visa, you may use that visa to attend the World Cup as a spectator.

Example text from Boston: Foreigners who already hold a valid tourist visa may utilize it to participate in the event as a spectator. There is no need to apply for the special visa category described above.

I know it's hard not to worry but from what I have seen in this forum, Atlanta has been the nicest consulate to deal with. I am sure you will get your passport back with visa on it soon.

My girlfriend and I mailed our passports, FIFA confirmations, and flight confirmations to the Chicago consulate. The consulate received them on Monday, May 5. I checked the status online, and it still shows as "received" but not "processed"

Should I be getting worried? Does anyone know if the Chicago consulate has a phone number? We live in western Illinois and I provided the necessary $20 USPS money order as well as a stamped and addressed USPS express mail envelope with our application

Lots of people on here are saying that hardly any of the buttons lighted up or didn't light up at all during the process.

I was there yesterday and I spoke with one of their employee before they start accepting applications, I had to explain him that the information that they got from FIFA was wrong, there is no way to get our tickets delivered if we got it after January/February and the Certificate will be received after we pick up our ticket in Brazil.

They accepted my application, I will have to pick up my Passport/Visa on/after Tuesday 5/20 ;). They have 3 serving windows but only 2 were open, the Nº2 for regular Visas/Returning/Diplomatic Visas and Nº3 that was for FIFA World Cup Visas Only. Their staff and both security guys were very helpful, they even have a Computer with a Printer in case you want do the application on site.

If you have the original tickets, please bring a copy, that way they don't spend time making copies in the back room, you will speedup the process and help the applicants that are behind you (less waiting time) :).
