Its a rather pointless friendly since most of our better players won't be available for the game. Don't understand why Loew has only brought in 1 striker in Volland, i think such move lacks vision and very conservative. He siad he doesn't want to bring in Kruse for a game then leave him out again in the WC squad, kinda contradicting since he has done exactly the same to ter Stegen With such a pointless friendly, loew should be wise to call up as many strikers as possible to build up the foundation for future. Loew is making this transitional period particularly difficutlt for young strikers. The more reluctant for him to call up striker prospects, the more difficult the striker situation will become in the future I was expecting Kruse, Timo Werner or maybe even Simon Zoller and Ilir Azemi for this friendly. Strikers do not have to be from 1BL, since 2BL is the actual stage for young strikers to emerge Roster: Tor 12 Marc-André ter Stegen 30.04.1992 Borussia Mönchengladbach 3 - 1 Ron-Robert Zieler 12.02.1989 Hannover 96 2 - Abwehr 4 Matthias Ginter 19.01.1994 SC Freiburg 1 - 13 Christian Günter 28.02.1993 SC Freiburg - - 4 Benedikt Höwedes 29.02.1988 FC Schalke 04 18 1 2 Sebastian Jung 22.06.1990 Eintracht Frankfurt - - 5 Shkodran Mustafi 17.04.1992 Sampdoria Genua - - 19 Antonio Rüdiger 03.03.1993 VfB Stuttgart 10 1 14 Oliver Sorg 29.05.1990 SC Freiburg - - Mittelfeld 18 Maximilian Arnold 27.05.1994 VfL Wolfsburg - - 15 Lars Bender 27.04.1989 Bayer 04 Leverkusen 17 4 10 Julian Draxler 20.09.1993 FC Schalke 04 10 1 17 Leon Goretzka 06.02.1995 FC Schalke 04 - - 8 André Hahn 13.08.1990 FC Augsburg - - 16 Christoph Kramer 19.02.1991 Borussia Mönchengladbach - - 7 Maximilian Meyer 18.09.1995 FC Schalke 04 - - 6 Sebastian Rudy 28.02.1990 1899 Hoffenheim - - Angriff 11 Kevin Volland 30.07.1992 TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - - Starting lineup: -----------------------Zieler ---Jung-------Mustafi----Ginter----Hoewedes ------------Lars Bender---Goretzka ---Hahn-----------Max Meyer--------Draxler ----------------------Volland
Interesting Line up actually... really gives everyone a chance to prove their spot in the last 23 (Except JUNG).. MUst be the youngest team ever
This squad is a joke. I feel sorry for the fans who bought tickets for this. It's quite obvious that Löw is from Baden-Württemberg in general and Freiburg in particular. It seems like he never went to watch Augsburg, Wolfsburg or Mainz. Or he would have noticed that they have better young players than the ones he nominated. Sorg, Günter, Rudy and Rüdiger have no business being called up to the national team. They aren't even good BL players. If Löw was nominating youngsters on merit he would have called Ostrzolek for left back, Knoche for centre back and Geis for defensive midfield. At least he also called Jung for right back and not only the inferior Sorg.
Jantschke and Ostrzolek are two players I would choose ahead of Sorg and Guenter. Aaron Hunt and Castro are also helpful Need one more striker too. Option is too limited and as I've said the more reluctant Loew to call up young strikers, the more difficult the NT will struggle from this striker drought in the longer run Timo Werner, Kruse, Simon Zoller and maybe even Azemi can be tried
Ahhh, this Azemi seems to be your new saviour of the german attack. This guy had a good last third in the second league, nothing more! And he is limited in his game in many ways. He will be nominated soon- by Albania
Zieler - Höwedes, Mustafi, Ginter, C. Günter - L. Bender, Goretzka - Hahn, M. Meyer, Draxler -Volland Kicker Line up .. suppose Bender will be replaced - Flick said he could play but might be used as a sub.. Must say quite intresting line up really a place for the youngsters to show themselves.
In a match like this with so many inexperienced players, to best judge you have to look at the small things, the nuances, of runs, positioning to receive passes, anticipation, etc. So far it's sort of evident those who excel more here and those who don't. Still early though.
ehh much of same issues as with senior team. lack of focused movement, fear of losing ball, and when in possession lacking any idea. Maybe problem does seem to lie with the team's identity. As for players, midfield has done very well. Really impressed with Rudy and Kramer. They are very mature, especially Rudy. Shows composure. Not a big fan of Rüdiger. Strong but too loose in possession. Good in set pieces but overall slow and offers little to nothing in attack. Makes sense that Löw sees him as a fullback here then. Otherwise, Volland not much to blame as he isn't even getting the ball much. Goretzka and Meyer need to be involved more and Draxler seems to see this as a vacation day.
Not bad but not really under a lot of pressure to be honest. Everyone is doing their part in the system but you get the feeling that there is something limiting about it. Unless wing forwards get involved, striker is isolated. Unless CM's get forward, #10 player isolated and little to no penetration through middle. Still impressive that considering inexperience they look like a genuine team. Otherwise, there are only a handful I would say have really really great potential here; Draxler, Ginter, Meyer, and Goretzka. Possibly Volland.
Meyer can run into space through middle at goal but passes out wide to Draxler. Draxler receives ball in midfield. Behind him nobody in space and can run through middle but passes backwards. This is Germany in a nutshell. Not smart football. This is the mental problem. Not necessarily fight or spirit but a tactical naivety. It's just in an infancy stage it seems.
Ginter impressed more. He can look stealthily out of it but he is so tidy and intelligent. Mustafi still has the case of erratic Boateng-ism, just throwing his body around and sometimes wayward passing but he certainly has the fight in him. I don't necessarily see a super high ceiling but he should come back to the Bundesliga and prove himself there.
For me this was rather a disappointing game. I did not expect much after all we had a lot of debutants on our team but Löw took even the last fun out of it by playing many players out of position. I was actually eager to see some new prospects on the fullback position and Löw ended up playing two CBs there. Only bright spot imho was Rudy who is so far away from the first team that I was actually suprised how much effort he put into the game.
http://www.welt.de/sport/fussball/w...fliges-Debuet-und-ein-Praesent-fuer-Mama.html Loew praised Volland on his debut performace Writer also added even volland didnt perform particularly well, he hustles all the time and was extremely mobile from right, central and left. The quality Loew should like most is his ability to play back-to-goal, protect the ball with his strong frame and then create. And his off-the-ball/positioning is good, especially for a player who has played right wing most of the season (only 7 games at CF this season)
