I'm rolling the dice with ATL! My documents (Passport, FIFA screen shot, flights/hotel reservation printouts, passport application and USPS priority return envelope) should arrive WED, worse case I get denied and should have plenty of time to try thru a visa service. I'm out of jurisdiction BTW. Spent $40 in shipping there and back so crossing my fingers! You can always spend a little extra with FEDEX to overnight it and get a faster yes/no answer to decide what to do next. Good luck!
I gambled with Atlanta as well. Mailed it out Sat morning via USPS. Just didn't feel like dealing with LA, as I have had only rude responses from them so far. Crossing fingers ATL feels nice and sends it back to me stamped.
just to follow up on my visa approval. Did all of my paperwork through travel visa pro through the houston consulate. sent it and got it back within 2 weeks. i picked the cheapest package. the service was fantastic and their call center wait time was minimal. I paid a total of $80 with shipping there and back.
I might have to pick that service just got a email from them. Giving me appointment till June 6th. Idk if to just head over there on Friday morning and be the very first one in line. Or it will be a waste of a 4 hour drive to Houston from dallas.
@Pseudonym I don't think so. But I think it may depend on the consulate. Each consulate has it's own rules. In LA they wanted to see the names for each person on the print out. A way around this is to purchase CAT 3 tickets to a random match; print the screen and the email. After you submit the VISA sell the ticket back. I did that to secure the visa for my children.
FYI, at the Washington DC consulate they no longer allow you to come back and pick them up your visa/passport in person so you have to provide a USPS envelope and postage to get your passport and visa returned to you by mail. You can still drop off the application, etc., in person. Based on the receipt they gave me currently it's taking about 8 business days to get your passport back by mail.
FYI. Los Angeles is taking 3.5 weeks. I dropped everything off this morning. I leave June 7 and visas will be ready June 4. It's cutting it a bit close....
Anyone have any experience or knowledge about getting the FIFA WC visa in South Africa? Specifically what they are requiring (I didn't find anything on their site). I have two friends who are US citizens residing there and need to go to Pretoria to apply. Thank you.
My friend who applied to LA was told 3 weeks, but then his passport was ready a week early. So it only took 2 weeks. Not sure if LA is being conservative with their estimates or my friend just got a little lucky.
Drove this morning to Atlanta from Tallahassee and arrived at consulate with me and my wife's match tickets, passports, application forms and SASE. Was in and out in 10 minutes. Spent more time at post office getting the SASE than I did in the consulate. Should have my stuff back by week's end.
So my particular situation is that I am an American stationed in England. I have an appointment with the London Consulate on May 22nd and I leave to the US for a pitstop before Brazil on June 4th. I'm worried I won't have enough time to get my visa approved before I have to leave. Does anybody have any recommendations on how I could possibly get my visa expedited and if they've had any experience with dealing with a similar situation? Also, does anybody know if the consulates possibly going on strike in the coming days will affect all of this in any way? Thanks.
Anyone tried to go to Miami for Visa.i know they want ticket certificate or tickets. Anything else they ask for ?
Did you just have the printout of the confirmation, or did you have a "ticket certificate", whatever that is? I am picking up my tickets in Brazil, so I will not have the tickets themselves. My wife is hoping to go to DC consulate on Friday, but doesn't want to risk having things wrong and needing to go back again.
Confirmation e-mail from FIFA showing the award of tickets plus the print out of the FIFA ticketing web page showing the applicant and any guests that are getting the visa by virtue of their guest status was what I provided and that has worked in the past at the DC consulate (along with the other documents, and now postage paid envelope).
I got my visa processed in DC. No ticket certificate required, just the items listed on this page: http://cgwashington.itamaraty.gov.br/pt-br/ That website isn't working right now (go figure), but if I recall, the list included a printed out flight confirmation email with my name, the ticket confirmation email, a screenshot of the FIFA page that shows your name and that you won the tickets.
The news down here said the consulates that are striking are doing it today and tomorrow. Here are the listed consulates that are supposedly striking for 48 hours: Serão afetados os consulados de Nova York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Hartford, São Francisco e Houston, nos Estados Unidos; os consulados de Londres, Montreal, Frankfurt e Bruxelas; o consulado e a embaixada em Paris, e a embaixada em Berna. http://noticias.uol.com.br/ultimas-...sileiros-pode-dificultar-vistos-para-copa.htm
I sent my application via USPS priority mail 2 weeks ago -- I'd sent it in and received it prior to that within a week, with the notice they additionally needed information re: our flights. Anyway, they received it 3May2014 according to tracking, and the priority mail SASE hasn't been sent back yet; in reading the website, processing the application shouldn't be taking more than 3 business days. I just read on the website they're only accepting applications in person now: http://atlanta.itamaraty.gov.br/en-us/News.xml they announced that on 25Apr2014, after I'd sent my original application which they sent back but not before the subsequent one -- I didn't check the website in between. I wonder if I'm going to need to drive down there to sort it out -- my only real opportunity to do that will be this coming Friday, but now I'm now worried they'll be on strike & there won't be anyone down there to meet me: http://noticias.uol.com.br/ultimas-...sileiros-pode-dificultar-vistos-para-copa.htm What to do? What a mess. Scheduling this trip has been a major headache!! Anyone have any advice re: this?
Does the status of your visa application provide any useful information? You can check the status online. The strike is supposed to only last 48 hours so it SHOULD be over by Friday.
I didn't see where one could check the visa status online for the Atlanta consulate. Does anyone have that link?
I think this is the link. I haven't used it myself but saw it when someone else posted it a while back. It might give you some information as to what's going on. I've heard others say that their status wasn't updated until their passport was being shipped back. Might be worth checking. https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/consultarVisto.do?lang=eng
