3-4 years ago, yeah. Now? Not so much. Too old. Seedorf kicked ass in Brazil but he was still getting significant playing time at a big club like Milan when he came over. Anelka couldn't hack it in China 2 years ago, I'd be very surprised if he lights up Brazil or the Libertadores next year.

that´s an overstatement. not even Ronaldinho kicked ass in Brazil when he returned. In fact, I can think of more players returning from Europe that flopped in Brazilian clubs than thrived or kicked ass. The last example that comes to my mind (because he came to Grêmio) was Cris, who played dozens of years in Lyon... when Brazil played France in June last year, at Grêmio Arena, the entire french press were around him like bees around honey... he was clearly an idol there. Here? He was the worst defender I ever saw playing. One of the major reasons for Gremio to be eliminated early in last year´s Libertadores. Then we got lucky that Vasco decided to free us from that burden... and Cris was one of the main reasons Vasco was relegated last year, lol
to tell the truth, it was not a great game by neither team. it was an horrible game actually. Both team would commit amateurish mistakes all the time, like receiving a ball and not being able to dominate the ball and it going over the sideline, or horrendous decisions on when to pass or dribble or shoot on goal, etc, etc. Quite a difference from the following game that I also watched: Cerro vs Deportivo Cali! Awesome game, very well played. In fact, it was better watching it than Chelsea vs PSG!
Can't say I watched the game in its entirety. I was actually makign dinner as I had the game in the background. I catched the last 20mins I want to say in full--and Strongest were attacking pretty hard. Was it pretty at times? No. But they could have scored at least one if not 2 more goals in the alst 10mins. They were dominating them towards the end.
Average? I don't know about that. He was good, but not as good as some of the hype may have indicated.
Agreed. Atletico-PR prepared poorly to handle the altitude. The Strongest had complete control of the 2nd half. The Strongest was the better side in the first, but Atletico at least threatened the goal. In the second half, the Strongest missed several clear opportunities and Weverton made some big saves.
You would think Portugal would know how to prepare his team better--Brasilian sides tend to fair better than Argie for the most part. With that said--they just aren't a good side. I blame their loss on lack of talent and ability to create over altitude. I like how Portugal is being made into a flip-flopper with him changing his response after thel oss blaming the altitude. The press in Brasil calling him lol
Bolivar winning 1-0 and with that winning the group. Leon outplaying Fla and beating them 1-0. Could be more, Flamengo playing quite poorly.
Good Game Flamengo 2-3 Leon. Expected More From Flamengo Though...And My Respect For The Flamengo Fans Who Kept Supporting
And just like that, Bolivar wins the group wiht a 2-1 win at home. A game that was a tad bit too close for me in the end...but we win. We win the group, first time a Bolivian Club has won since 2000...by none other than us (us back then too). Very happy that Bolivia is showing their footie this year with both of our big clubs making it out of the group stages....but Bolivar #1 and Strongest our son, only squeeking out of the group as #2.
With Leon, Flamengo and even Emelec's pay roll, no way in Hell am I going to calm down after my Bolivar make it out of the group FIRST when those teams are probably paying at 3-5x the amount we can afford. After going through a down moment with our futbol, it's very nice to see our two biggest make it out of the group stages to the final 16. I can't remember the last time this has happened. Cheers to all the Bolivians and those rooting for us as under dogs. A win in Mexico, a tie in Brasil, and finally a long awaited win at home!! BOLIVAR ES BOLIVIA CARAJO!!
Fuego, 1994 was the last time both teams made it together, obviously Bolivar eliminated the strongest en octavos.
Now the "cenicienta" of the Libertadores is Peru, with both clubs eliminated before the last week of play. Venezuela has still ways to go, and is likely they won't get any in next round. But at least Zamora will have a chance to the very last.
No. If Cruzeiro wins 3-1, the only way they would be out is if La U won by 4x3. If Defensor wins by any score, if the Defensor and La U are tied, or if La U wins by 2x1 or 3x2 or by more than one goal cruzeiro will have the better tie breakers.
I've been saying Botafogo's trash since the start and they don't have much money at all. $$$$$$$ is just deciding who will win the tournament, I still see a Brazilian team/NOB winning it.
Impresionante la definición de recién, pero qué amargos los de Botafogo por favor! Era como si tenían ganas de que les metan goles!
