3 as Alex already wrote. Dortmund II (one player over 23) and Stuttgart II (3 players over 23) are both confortable with their roosters. I checked also the team roosters of some Regionalliga reserves and detected no club with more than 3 over 23 players in the complete rooster, HSV II has not even a single player older than 23, if the transfermarkt.de roosters can be trusted. So the restriction does not seem to be a problem in order to establish a reserve team in lower 3. Liga, top Regionalliga level.
Some pretty interesting story lines in this years 3.Liga...would be nice to see another uptick in attendance.
Keep in mind that the teams will also use overage players from the first team. So having too many overage players on the roster doesn't make much sense in the first place (generally players with a shot at the first team are younger than 23, you want some room for recovering/rarely playing first team players, and if everyone is healthy you will most likely pay the surplus overage players for nothing). I would have gone with "What's good for the goose is good for the rooster, as they say". Hey, I don't know any genuine English rooster sayings, so sue me.
In case of promotion RB Leipzig licence for the 2. BL could be in danger, if the club does not change its structure. memberships restrictions (RBL demands a 800 € fee and can deny interested persons from becoming a member without having to tell any reason). Another point that could danger the license is the 50+1 rule, which prescribes that 50% of all votes plus 1 vote must stay at the club. Leipzig obviously breaks this rule (from a non juristical POV), but Leipzigs chances are rated quite good to appeal against it before a court and win. Thus the DFL works currently on a simplified and "legally watertight" ("juristisch wasserdicht") version of the 50+1 rule. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...b-leipzig-drohen-probleme-mit-der-lizenz.html
Ive heard reserve U23 teams for pro BL teams will be abolished in the regionalliga, will this also apply for the reserve tams playing in 3. liga?
Bielefeld won the first leg 3-1 at Darmstadt in the promotion play-off to 2.BL. I like it, NRW needs good clubs in professional football. Especially in the Ruhr area it is sad that young people only favor Dortmund and that Russian club. Though there is so much tradition: Rot-Weiss Essen, Wuppertaler SV, MSV Duisburg to name a few.
Everytime I hear Lippe I think of my old english teacher back in 3rd grade her name was mrs Schaumburg (Nerds my get this one).
Wow, Darmstadt turned the 1-3 home loss in the 2nd leg around and won 4-2 after extra time vs. Bielefeld. I did not expect this after the first leg, but congrats to Darmstadt 98.
What unbelievable relegation/promotion thriller that was tonight!!! Congrats to Darmstadt 98 for deservedly (they could have decided the game earlier) making the last-minute sensation tonight! Never thought this would be possible... It's nice to see DIE LILIEN (traditional German club) back after so many years ... even though they kicked BMG off the DFB-Pokal earlier this season. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/..._sv-darmstadt-98-98_arminia-bielefeld-10.html http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/..._arminia-bielefeld-10_sv-darmstadt-98-98.html
As far as I can tell, I'm the only active Lilien supporter on Big Soccer or at least the only one who's posted for the lilies as a fan of the team over the last few years. I'm not "Ultrá de Lis" (the lilies ultra fan group) and my heart beats first and foremost for HSV, but I have been a Darmstadt resident for 16 years and whenever my football heart does not think of HSV, it thinks of the lilies. They've had a great run and I think it's fantastic they were able to crown their season with this fantastic achievement (just like HSV, cough, cough; anyone who followed both relegations over the last five days can imagine that my hair lost some color over this period). I was also proud to see that they were very gracious winners on Monday, Dirk Schuster emphasizing, that they refrained from loud celebrations and playing music in the dressing rooms to celebrate the victory, knowing they were on Arminia ground and what a tough situation the other team was just going through. On that note, the Arminia coach and team were also gracious losers. All in all, many people agree that this was one of the most exciting games in recent German soccer history. I was on Luisenplatz last night (Darmstadt city center) and it was great to see the whole city come together this way, literally every second person was wearing blue and white. The other great thing is that of course the new stadium has been on the cards for a while and the critical thing that is missing up to this point is the commitment from the state of Hesse for a contribution. There was actually a state representative there shortly before the relegation, saying something to the effect that the state couldn't very well not contribute if the club were promoted to 2. Bundesliga (he was probably being smart, thinking that contributions could be deferred if the club did not make it), but now, the pressure will rise and we may get a new stadium in the none too distant future. Club president Fritsch was on TV a few days ago and said that even if they make it, financial sustainability will remain the foremost priority. All the same time, they will invest in the team, to be competitive in 2. Bundesliga. Most people here fear that parts of the team, most importantly manager Dirk Schuster and striker Dominik Stroh-Engel have made themselves targets for bigger clubs, so here's to hoping they'll stay for at least one more year. Having said all this, being the de facto Darmstadt 98 representative on this board, I accept all congratulations graciously and for the time being, hereby do sign out the club from this thread. I may return with the one or the other post on Holzbein Kiel, which I also have sympathies for and am very happy to see that they managed to stay in 3. Bundesliga. As for me and likely most other SVD98 fans, we're perfectly happy to see in the club stable in 3. Bundesliga and accept this as a bonus. But of course now there's hope that the lilies may even be able to sustain their run in 2. Bundesliga for a while. They haven't been there since 1993, but they are still in spot 14 on the all-time 2. Bundesliga table. Maybe now they can even move up a few spots.
Bro my In-Laws used to live in Eberstadt. I remember going to Darmstadt to the Marzplatz. Also in Pfungstadt they have the best Beer Store. Puts BevMo to shame. Good times. I did see the celebrations going on & they did look cool. Die Lilien were celebrating like they won the Bundesliga They will be some good matches next season. I can't wait to see Die Lilien play FSV. It will be a Hessen Derby
I'm not a Fan but I have been to the Böllenfalltor once or twice and I was there last thursday but had to watch the game in the Lilienschenke outside as I couln't get a hand on a ticket. I do enjoy the games at this stadium as one of the last oldschool grounds in the top divisions. YES! I can't remember being so excited about a success of a team other than Eintracht since the CL Final 1999. ( )
Promotion playoff matches for RL teams to 3. Liga: TSG Neustrelitz (RL North-East) - FSV Mainz 05 II (RL South 2nd) SG Sonnenhof-Großaspach (RL South 1st) - VfL Wolfsburg II (RL North) Fortuna Collogne (RL West) - FC Bayern Munich II (RL Bayern) (First legs: May, 28th, 2nd legs: May, 31st)
Yes this season in Regional Liga showed the state of the Regional Liga, where the II teams dominates.
