Argentina had Basanta. Bolivia had Chavez. Colombia had Mosquera, Perea, Leao. Ecuador had Montero, Rojas, Ayovi. Chile had Pinto, Suazo on some games. "Rather" meant that if all the sudacas domestic league were that much more better than Liga MX than it would make sense to have their domestic players replace their Liga MX players since the Liga MX players play in an "inferior" league. Numbers only say so much. It's like saying that the US is really the 13th best NT in the world cause FIFA ranks them as 13th.
Mexico is probably the second highest paying league in the Americas (excluding MLS DPs). Yes if money was everything Mexico would be the second best league in Copa Libertadores, but money is not everything, and Liga MX teams sometimes lose out to clubs with a fraction of their payroll. Sure with coefficient type rankings, you only really look at the few top teams from each league, so a league with 3 good teams can score higher than a league with a more balanced load of teams.
