He wasn't part of the U-17 squad in the Aegean Cup currently taken place in Turkey. Is he not in Richie Williams' plans for the U-17 World cup qualifying process
What probably says more about Sampdoria depth than about anything else, as he he never looked any good even by standards of our U-20 team.

These big European teams get what they want, regardless of "laws." If the player is that coveted, they will figure out a way to bring him in. They could always give his mom/dad a "job" with the club, among many other possibilities that exist.
i don't know how much any of those players helped as examples to make your point. only one of those is a sizeable club, and it is a definite stretch to call green american. and those guys aren't/weren't US youths in the first place
Can anyone name a homegrown American teen that has successfully played consistently on a first (major league) team in the past five years?
I can't. It stings to think Zalalem could be the first and not even be eligible to play for the US. If he gets healthy Marc Pelosi could be. I hope in the next three to four years we have at least one or two that play consistently on a top team in a top league.
Most of the cases we have seen involve a player not yet on a professional contract. Erik is on a pro contract and there is a transfer fee. That makes it a lot harder to say the move is for "non-football reasons." Maybe they can make it work, but Borussia Dortmund didn't figure out a way to bring over Junior Flores.
in the 2000s? a lot, relative to 0. lets arbitrarily define consistent as over 450 min or a total of 10 appearences, or some combo (you get the point) e.g http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gus_Kartes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Karbassiyoon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel_Ferrari Cher Landon Altidore Adu Kirovski Some dudes at 1860 München And some other dudes that I can't think of in England. otherzzz btw i count cup,el etc games
Those American players were not consistent first team starters as teenagers in the top leagues in the world.
well that is sort of my point, they all got at least close enough to see the team shower together more than a couple time in their teens and almost all were then relegated to lesser teams in their 20s. ie its a good thing mls is hording players like epb!
Official comment is no comment: Sporting KC declined to comment on the report. “We are always getting calls and inquiries about our players, but we do not comment on specific rumors,” a team spokesman said. http://www.kansascity.com/2014/01/24/4773588/sporting-kc-turns-down-1-million.html
you actually consider donovan and adu as consistent first team starters in europe as youngsters? you are much more generous than i!
