Hopefully we can all comment on our local tournament on this thread and give opinions on games we've watched, it should be a good campeonato I mean the offseason sure made noise, Zubeldia to LDU, Ischia back in Ecuador, Kaviedez is back, etc etc

I'll start by saying that I watched Independiente VS SD Quito, what seemed like was gonna be an away win for SD Quito eneded up being a loss after Romero got red carded on what looked to me wasnt an intentional foul. please watch Sornoza's first goal, what a beaty of a play.
Manta and Liga played their match in the Jocay and it was an entrtaining match for me. Christian Marquez (one of the best forwards in our campeonato) assisted Palacios for the goal and Bolanos missed a pk for Liga.

Liga looked okay. They move the ball better it seems but there is still a lot to learn for them. Independiente plays great! I love how they pass and touch the ball. Great touch on their goals.

Sornoza's goal was sick. I'm surprised a mexican team didn't put in the money to pick him up. Very surprised.

That game deserved a tie I think. Liga missed the key moments when we had the chance to put the score in our favor, but it's ok. It's just the first game and so far I like what I see b/c this is a team that has just been renewed (the right way this time) and we are starting from stratch. I have faith in Zubeldia that this team will gel and be what we all imagined it to be.

I must admit that the Congo/Matamoros combination looked interesting

Kaviedes played for 5 mins before getting red carded, right?
He should have stayed at the ministerio de deportes.

Anyone watching the games? Liga has A LOT to work on. Not playing well as I thought they might. Good win at least

Barcelona? Yuck! They are playing terrible IMO.

Emelec? Still the best team IMO. Miller Bolaños deserves a call to the NT soon. He just needs to keep performing like this in the next couple of weeks.

BSC is still full of doubts, Emelec will have not trouble winning the first etapa, lets see once the Libertadores starts for them

Is it me or does the quality of futbol in the Ecua league fallen big time? Every game I've seen this season has been pretty bad. Actually terrible. Hard to watch such crappy games. So frustrating the way all teams are playing.

The BSC vs Liga game I thought it was entertaining, still early in el campeonato, so far Emelec seems like it will have no trouble winning the first round

Liga de Loja, Independiente and Emelec are going to be the top 3. Maybe olmedo surprises but who knows. Aguinaga has improved Loja by a ton. Loja has no international tournament getting in their way while emelec and Indep. do. emelec has the biggest and most powerful squad of the three so it will be interesting to see who finishes first. Deportivo Quito is last like I predicted before the tournament began, they're candidates to get relegated. Liga and BSC along with Nacho are stuck in the middle and will continue like that until they tap into their best form.

IMO this will be 2013 all over again. Emelec really the only solid team and Independiente happy with 2nd place. All the other big clubs are playing more with their name then actual talent. I agree that the quality of the league has gone down. Probably has to do with more then half the teams broke or in a ton of debt.

their is a lot that could be done but isn't i really think they should limit the amount of foreigners we bring but that like everything else that probably should be done wouldn't i do think it time to expand our league tho and make it 14 teams all the big teams are falling apart and all these former B teams are impressing i think we are actually close to that hopefully next year their was rumor about that starting this year river plate, aucas, LDU portoviejo would be interesting to see in seria A

What are some of the players that have stood out so far 2014? I like what Penilla has done with BSC. Another player that I believe has flow under the radar is Edison Vega of Deportivo Quito. He's been a steady performer in what has been an overall mediocre season for them. Jonathan Gonzales has also played well and built upon his strong 2013 season. I'm looking forward to what the future has in store for this kid.

Penilla definitely in BSC. That kid has very interesting talent. I hope he can keep his level up but he has something special that he can continue building which could eventually take him to the NT. I've followed this kid since his days in ESPOLI and remember commenting about him on here. In Deportivo Quito he didn't have the chances I would have thought he would get but in BSC he's been developing for sure. Jonathan Gonzalez is 1 of those 3 players that I listed as potential for leaving Ecuador and going straight to a top European league. So far I've landed 2 of those guys correctly- Gabriel Corozo and Carlos Gruezo. Let's hope the same happens for Jonathan Gonzalez b/c I see he has talent that can take him where Corozo and Gruezo are. He's actually even younger than both of them if im not mistaken. I think he just turned 18 and played last year as a starter at 17.

Stand outs? Tough to say, but not many that I could point out without hesitating. I think Johnny Uchuari has been very important this season for Liga de Loja after having a very quiet 2013, looks like he's back on his feet to the Uchuari we saw in 2012. The Patta's are still playing well. Henry is standing out more than Elvis but i'd say they're displaying a similar level of performance like last years. Sornoza has done well too although I noticed a lot of Independiente players are feeling that "trajin" of games catching up to them. At points I notice lots of them seem tired including Gonzalez and Sornoza. Independiente isn't rotating their players around and hopefully it doesn't affect them in the long run w/ an unfortunate injury/injuries. I like what I saw in the first 5 games of the campeonato from Romario Caicedo....interesting player but I can only leave it at that for now.

As far as defenders I couldn't tell you a single one that has stood out. The closest I can get to decent is Narvaez, Leon, and Pineida. All three not being very consistent but decent enough to draw some attention. In their best form they're better than what they have displayed this season IMO. Keepers? nothing exceptional. Banguera, Dominguez, and Bone are IT and that's that. Midfielders? I'd have to think hard about that one before answering but no one comes to mind besides Gonzalez to be quite honest.

Watching the Dep Quito - Cuenca game. Morante is playing btw. Let's see how he does. Do you guys remember the name Andres Lopez? I've completely forgot about the kid. I haven't watched the kid play in a while but some ppl were high on him not too long ago. He was part of the underwhelming U-20 2013 squad. He had a sub par performance in the tournament if my memory serves me right. But then again he wasn't the only one that underperformed.

I wouldn't judge that NT (u-20) that Roseri coached based their performances in that tournament. Even Gruezo underperformed and now look where he is. That was IMO Roseros poor coaching. He had a better generation of players than Vizuetes u-20 that qualified to the WC (with Marlon, Edson Montano, Marcos Caicedo, Narvez, etc). Remember that more than a handful of players from the U-20 Rosero had were the same kids that Qualified to the U-17 WC just a few years before. Tells you something went wrong because of him.

Andres Lopez was showing great futbol when he started at 17. Now he's 20 I believe or 19 at least. He benched Narvaez at one point and still has good talent. The problem he hasn't continued evolving. He's kind of gotten stuck and staying in Cuenca hasn't helped his cause. But he's far from bad. He plays well but he's just not standing out like he used to. Johnny Uchuari last year was extremely quite and this season he's back at it. Feraud went to Liga and got lost. Some players sometimes get stuck in the process. Uchuari was starting in Loja before Sornoza and look at who evolved quicker.

Anyone seen any games this weekend? I tried watching couple games over online and I gotta tell you guys. It's tough watching an Ecuadorian game. By tough I mean it's hard to watch the crap that is the Ecuadorian league right now. Every game I saw was pure s h i t. From Emelec to Liga's game. Unattractive and dysfunctional soccer and this has happened since the beginning of the season. No wonder no wants to go to the stadiums. The level of quality is so low that I rather watch a second division Mexican league game than Ecuador right now.

Don't get me started at the quality of the stadiums. Wow. Looks like their are playing in the streets. Looks like there is no grass at all at the stadiums. Everything looks so poor.

Another thing is why in the world isn't FEF transmitting game is HD now? Ecuador is the only one I think that doesn't transmit in HD now. Come on! It's 2014 already. Damn. My iPhone even shoots in HD. So freaking sad. Can't believe this crap.

Seriously, I don't blame the public as to why no ones wants to go watch the game live or on tv. It's very apparent that FEF is sitting on their seats doing nothing at all. Bunch of incompetent losers in FEF. I don't get it. Are the people in charge even educated? Has anyone there graduated from a university? Is anyone in Ecuador not see what the hell is going on? Wow.

I mentioned this a while back, this is a serious issue, it will affect every angle of our futbol, ultimately on our NT, I however hold the fanbase responsible, they know the majority of our clubs are on the brink of bankruptcy and if they only assisted games with a purchased ticket would be a tremendous help but instead fans decide to stay home yet every offseason they demand top of the line new signings.

I strongly suggest the FEF getting more involved and putting some type of salary control on our teams, somehow helping them keep their finances under control, I mean BSC today had GREAT performances by Penilla and Esterilla, yet BSC still searching for a foreigner #9 who will arrive and get paid more than these two, we need to think more like Argentinians, Uruguayans who's some clubs are player factories sell them young, let them acquire experienence, the club not only makes money but keeps rotating the divisions.
