Those are rankings from Nadeshiko League only, though! We already had that! I had told you that the overall season rankings were in the last page of my file, Gromit! Oh well, I guess later you'll make amends... ;)

Itos retirement hurts. She is am amazing player. I would agree with blisset that her retirement is injury related. I wonder if the injury she concieved against INAC never really healed and she was back too early. I also wonder if she can keep the contract with Asics after retirement and can continue to work for them.

If you knew all the problems I had with your doc (I needed 56 manipulations and tries before reaching a clean result in sticking the various parts, I never use and work with Excell, but I was keen to help, even if there is much better to do on a Christmas day for sure, like roasting chestnuts or watching a good old film in black and white), you would have certainly started your post by : "Oh, thank you for your work, but sorry..." ;)

So, one amend on each side means result is a draw... :sneaky:

Sorry if I sounded dismissive, Gromit... It wasn't my intention. It's just that I was a little busy too (you know, roasting chestnuts and stuff...) so I answered in a hurry.
And then, since you had said to me that it was so easy taking a screen-capture of my file... Well, I had believied you!

Ok, so I make amends and I thank you very much for helping me to share my file with the friends here at BS!
Merry Christmas everyone! :) Especially Minako Ito! :giggle:

Merry Christmas, my friends. I hope you all have had a wonderful time and got great presents! :D

Much obliged for the hard work on compiling those goals, Profe. Well done! And thank you Grom, for being as helpful as you are. Cheers to both of you! :)

Do you remember that last saturday I had told you about this match, the last one of Italy's League before a two-week's break for Christmas & beginning of the year's holydays?
Well, courtesy of Gricio61 and the Women's League in Italy's thread, we also have higlights from that match; or something of the kind: Firenze's format for video highlights is a mix and match of interviews and actions, where it's very difficult to understand the general plot of the game...
Anyway: Firenze is the team with the white jersey (the normally wear violet) and Matsubayashi is the GK in yellow:

Thank you very much, unepomme! :)

I have to suppose that the question mark is not a part of the sentence, but just your way to politely say that this is your "unreliable" translation?

Apparently this recent player trend extends to the Challenge League as well. Ehime announces that Onoyama Nana, Marugata Rie, Nakada Maiko, Maruyama Yuka, Kutsuna Arisa, and Arakawa Tomoe will all leave the club. I am not sure if they are retiring, or just being released. Most of them are very young, but that hasn't stopped some other players from hanging up their boots.

Wow, especially Maiko Nakada's destiny will raise some eyebrows here and enquiring minds will want to know if she really retired or if she just left for another club! o_O

Maiko Nakada was a former Okayama Yunogo Belle's player and a mumf's and And G's favourite (to the point that And G had a pic of Maiko Nakada as a child as his avatar for about a year in 2012, if I am not wrong). So this move won't go un-noticed...

Can't sleep so here are some more retirements (the word pops up in every translation except Ehime, so I just assume Ehime is the same, not an exception)

Those photos mean that Ji So-Yun is indeed leaving to England, as it was rumoured? o_O (In fact it was a rumour that was very close to be a certainty)

Hiotmi Mori??? Really??? Are we talking about the top scorer of this season's Challenge League, with a whopping 27 goals???
Talk about leaving at the peak of one's career...

I wonder if she would have retired anyway, if Sfida Setagaya had made it to be promoted in Nadeshiko League after the play-off vs Kibi. I bet she would have stayed for one more year in 1st division... But it went differently...

All those retirements, especially the ones of high profiles players like Hitomi Mori, make me sad... :(
I would not be supposed to be so sad in these holidays... Please, Nadeshiko girls, stop retiring! :x3:

Thanks, Moukoko, you answered to my previous post. We basically already knew that, but now it's official.
It's been also confirmed that she signed for Chelsea FC Ladies and so she will play with Yuki Ogimi next season?
By the way, I read on the FA WSL thread that English league will start in April, so more than three months of stop for Ji: I hope she will train well during the winter break.

No-one of those was posted, I guess, thank you very much, Moukoko... What I get from this is that it looks like Takatsuki is more or less dismantling (probably they don't have faith in their project anymore, after last two disappointing seasons?), while Anclas signing campaign could main that they're not satisfait with how the League went this year and they want to make a bold move to try to get back in Nadeshiko League next season.

But these are just impressions, I could be completely wrong...

I guess we'll have to get used to transfers and retirements announcement in these next weeks... Does anyone know if there is a limit for the transfer-window? Is there a day when the clubs are due to present their full roster?

lol. no, no. These photos were taken when Ji arrived in Korea with Kawasumi. (This is Gimpo Airport.) I think Kawasumi is spending the winter break with Ji in Korea.

But the move to Chelsea is pretty much confirmed. These is her recent interview at a news station. They talk about the Japanese league, her move to Chelsea and if she is going to contact any male Korean players in England.

No, they didn't mention about Chelsea.
SoYun left a farewell comment on INAC site and it says "I will announce that when my new team is decided."

Well, I can understand your feelings of course. But I'm not sure that seeing all those retirements as if they were tragedies is the right way. Nothing tells us that those girls are retiring with sadness and regret, and their eyes full of bitter tears. They must have very good reasons for doing it. Maybe just better things to do than playing football, which is not the only good thing in the world and in life after all. So maybe dedicating themselves to studies or to their jobs they like more than football, or going to have a private life, having babies or whatever... Maybe some are also fed up with football... It's not because we are not that they can't be...

Sometime ago, I made an interview of French player Léa Rubio. She was U19 European Champion with Les Bleuettes in 2010, she played in D1 for Montpellier, then PSG. In 2012 she had her first selection with the NT (as the same time as her friend Camille Catala, they were the two greatest hopes of French WF), and even if she played the last 5 minutes only, she managed to score. Two weeks later she had an ACL. She said to me that she welcomed it with relief, because she was unable to keep going like that, she was exhausted and had enough... Once her injury has set, after several months, she just decided to stop playing football at the age of 21 years old. She had tasted the "other life" during her injury and enjoyed it. It's only one year later, when Olympique de Marseille called her and offered her to join OM with a strong project that she came back to football in DH (D3) just "for fun".
All this to say that we don't know what it is to play football at very high level and all the sacrifices it demands, and that sometimes the girls have just enough. Let's not forget that even if they retire at 25 y.o., they maybe have been playing for about 15 years, or even more.
So, maybe it is not sadness which prevails for all those girls who retire but relief and joy. We don't know. Best then not to dramatize too much, and on the reverse, to wish them all good luck in their new life !:)

    About Ito Minako's retirement...
It appears that she is leaving for medical reasons, but not related to an injury suffered. Kazuyoshi Takatani, a friend with close ties to Vegalta and responsible for the Sameshima Support Page on FB, states that Ms Ito is suffering from a visceral disease since last summer and needs rest and medical treatment. But it is not too serious. According to Takatani, Ito graduated from Japan Sports and Science University and is a certified teacher. There might be a new direction for her. :) I hope she will recover and feel better soon.
