Why else would it suddenly come out that he was an American citizen and he say that he was open to a US call up RIGHT before the Gold Cup squads were selected?

Sorry but I don't get excited about players still in college.
I like Cropper's mentality, he has an attitude about him that I like.

They all play for US as a second choice. If they were good enough for Germany to reach out and call them up, then they would have done it and turned down the US. Just like Rossi did. I thinkk even chandler was holding out a bit and turned down a callup one time, but then folded after not hearing anything from Germany.

If this latest article is true, then that is what yarbrough is doing. If Mexico doesnt call and no signs of calling, then he will take US(if they call) as 2nd choice.

This happens in Mexico as well, Guille, Zinha, Nery. Guille is a straight merc and sucked. Zinha sucks but truly loves el Tri and Mexico, Nery is a semi-merc but wow'ed everyone, now is lost in limbo.

Modern football, just like the Polish-Germans in the German NT.

Include Matías Vuoso in the list, dude may be a "merc" but he was instrumental in getting Mexico to the 2010 World Cup, same for the German-Americans (overall, maybe not in 1 particular game like Vuoso).

Also Graham Zusi I hear Peña-Nieto will make him a honorary Mexican citizen pretty soon.

    yep vuouso also.

Zusi deserves Mexican citizenship, maybe some nice beachfront property, and full retirement pay, straight out of the pockets of televisa, decio de maria, and all the gentlemen pact losers who let Mexico fail in such a manner.

I am serious, If I were Zusi, id be making some calls, getting some hook ups.

He had a bad season in Chivas. But regardless it was 6 months ago in the gold cup! Oh my god Marco Fabian and Isaac Brizuela disappeared of the face of the earth too. You're full of shit if you really believe this.

It doesn't matter what choice the US is...I would love for him to come and be part of the Crew. This kid has proven himself to me and I know Howard and Guzman are first options but if those two went down " Yarbrough" would be solid keeper for the US.

Few of the USMNT posters here know the Mexican pool well enough to say one way or the way.

The implication with Brizuela was that few on either side of the border had any clue he was a US citizen. Then this MLS.com article came out that revealed he was US-eligible and there were quotes from him saying things like:

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...saac-brizuela-reveals-hes-us-citizen-will-he-

“It’s where I see more opportunities,” Brizuela told the outlet. “Right now I can’t say which national team because I have doubts, I don’t know which [to choose].”

I believe it's highly likely that Brizuela never had any intention of playing for the USMNT. He used his dual-national status as leverage. Two weeks after these quotes from Isaac..............he was called up by Mexico to the Gold Cup. Coincindence? I personally don't think so.

We see this all the time from dual nationals. Yarbrough is Mexican. He's stated that his heart is "with Mexico" and he's accepted callups from Mexico in the past. So why would he now say he's "undecided?" It's leverage..........that's all. Wanna put money on Yarbrough being called in as the useless 3rd keeper on Mexico's next friendly roster?

And where are all those guys in this picture? Mexico power rangers.jpg I know this must be hard for you being a Chivas Fan and getting smoked on day to day basis. But face it, your world cup trip is only because the USA and Club America allowed you to go. Why should Yarbrough play for Mexico and get blanked like Michel, when he has the chance to play for the US the best team on the continent :D

sure maybe string him a long in case he works out. If he gets cap tied, he better be sure its right decision.

maybe off topic, but can someone list the benefits of even being on a nat team. The obvious one being notoriety and playing so big clubs can see you and sign you, which equals money. So that may be enough.

I know myself, as a pocho, if I were in this situation and not called up by Mexico, I would just not be on any NT. I would decline all other NTs. Maybe stupid, but thats me.

Exactly these guys have all had long careers with the US unlike the Tri Players. If he is Cap-Tied to Mexico it will be a bad decision on his part just as it was for Brizuela, Ponce, etc.

I'm not talking about Brizuela and his situation with the US and Mexico but about the stupidity of a guy who got called up for the Gold Cup," disappearing of the face of the earth" because they haven't been called up in 6 months. Brizuela and Fabian would also fall under that if the stupidity of the poster is to be believed.

Not a Chivas fan you dolt.

What we have to remember is that we come at this from a fan's point of view that can't ever imagine being interested in playing for "the other side." As a USMNT fan, I can't imagine ever even considering to put that ugly green jersey on. A lot of players aren't fans in this kind of manner...................

Being a Texan, however, I know a lot of people that love both countries. And that's great. If you were raised by a family that taught you to love both countries........................which side would you pick? Probably the first one to show a real and legitimate interest in you. [The case with somebody like Richard Sanchez on the Mexico side or....................Jose Francisco Torres on the American side.] Or you approach it as which nation you think it would be best to represent in terms of your career. I personally think that's a "wash" in the case of the US versus Mexico. If it was US versus Guatemala, those kids almost always choose the US. Rubio Rubin is a USYNT player eligible for Guatemala. I've never heard him mention the possibility of playing for Guate once. Or Junior Flores and El Salvador. No matter how much Salvadorans think Junior might represent them...............they can forget it.

As for the benefits of playing for your national team...................these guys do get paid every game they play for the national team. And it's not an insignificant amount of money that USMNT players get for being named to the WC roster and playing in games.

I apologize for the Chiva Fan Reference...You just kept saying dumb things so I assumed since you talking about the Drug Cartel Player Fabian you were a Fan of those losers. Other than that face reality, we are a first place team and Mexico is a 4th place playoff team.

I love both countries, so its not so much of a country thing. Its a sport thing, a style and skill that attracts, being pocho is part, as I identify with the culture.

I think patriotism and such needs to be kept to a lower level, so you dont get these fools that talk all this 2 time world war champion BS.
