I think Virginia Tech should surprise Florida State, and come out in a 2-2-1-1-4 formation. It might psychologically throw off FSU. Sometimes to throw off a real good fundamental disciplined team, is to just come out & make them say "WTF" ?
In case no one else posted this link, ESPN's Graham Hays has a great article on Virginia Tech's Kelly Conheeney, perhaps the player with the greatest impact on her school's program, who will be on the sidelines tonight, her career ended by the effects of repeated concussions.
I hope everyone attending the College Cup is planning to make the most of today's great weather. I understand that Sunday promises to extend the magnificent tradition of (East Coast) College Cup weather misery-- temps falling to 36F and 90% chance of rain by 3:00PM ... Well, it should be some Fantastic soccer! Stay warm everybody!
uh oh, VT up 1. Snap. VT with some lovely possession ball, too. Hokies getting the shaft on the calls, though. SMH.
That was a weak call. Was the goalscorer offside? Oh and the VT kid was nearly pulverized around the box but she gets called for the foul?! It's going to be a long night for the VT folks.
Not offside. VT player on other side of box was keeping her onside. Yeah, that was weird the way the FSU was manhandling the other girl and the foul was on VT for putting her hands up too. And 5-10 minutes earlier, in the same spot, the AR waved the flag for a foul outside the box and the ref waved her off. Other than those 3 inconsistencies, the ref seems pretty good.
Not offside imo, but gosh, I would give some cards there! Punching, sliding, pushing, intentional hand-balls, lol. Ref just decided to let them fight, one FSU player is already down, lets hope for no more victims...
Yeah, compared to men's professional games I watch, the ref's almost never issue a card. I don't know why. It's almost like the refs don't understand how hard these girls are getting after each other.
Very impressed with the way VT calmly breaks the opponent's counter attacks. Not impressed by how easily they give the ball away, though...
I don't know how you can say that was not offsides. The scorer was not offsides but her teammate, who was running a couple yards away from her was and thus was in the play.
Are they really gonna give Fields the goal on that?! The ball bounced away from the goal, off the Colpitts' back and in. Gotta be an OG right?
