Stretcher rolls off field to the left, ambulance waiting. Crowd applauds, then breaks into a chant. Teams are back on-field, warm-ups off. pbp guy resumes.
99'30" 0-0 UCLA fair-plays ball down to UNC's box right foot. UNC clear it to midfield into touch. 99'45" 0-0 UCLA down to box top right, shank a cross/shot wide right. Sieloff retrieves but doesn't bother to restart. AE1 0-0.
Here I sit in my Chicago home with sadness in my eyes for this kid. I hope I speak for all of us here, we love this game but we love the kids who play it more.
******** it. I'm sorry, don't know what to write... I wasn't rooting for anyone in this match, but this is just heartbreaking for UNC. What an awful evening...
Well, that's that. Congrats to UCLA. But most of all I pray that the kid from UNC who was wheeled away in an ambulance will be OK.
101' 0-0 UCLA left throw-in, lost. Dunn directs traffic at circle top box right. 102' 0-0 Dunn flicks a pass to Green at 20m mid-right. She crosses to Ohai waiting at 14m mid-left. Ohai cuts centerward, shoots low hard left post, Rowland smothers it at the post. 102' 1-0 UCLA longballs up centerline, sends #24 Taylor Smith 1-v-2 but 1/2 step ahead of them both, from 25m through box top to the spot. She fends off a shoulder challenge and arm tugs, draws Sieloff out to her knees at 6-top center, chips into her chest. Ball rattles around, squirts past Sieloff, rolls softly toward right post low. Sieloff turns to chase, but Smith is still alive behind her -- reaches ball first at 1m and blasts it into back right low. Ref points hand straight up -- what call is that? UCLA dogpiles at 6-top right.
So we will have a maiden winner for the NCAA championship this year. I have no favorites though I'd like to see Morgan Brian pick up a title after the year she has had. To me she was the best player this year.
indirect free kick, of course... but also the beginning of the end of game signal. Right now the outcome isn't as important as the health of a player. puts a damper on the whole event. I hope she is OK Thanks again for the PBP, Gilmoy.
Wow. Just logged on, so I only know about the hurt player. Anyway, congrats UCLA and fair play to the Tarheels. Sounds like a close match, as I expected.
It looks like her head collided real hard on the hard cold turf when she landed awkwardly, but that could be because she was already knocked out and didn't brace her fall due to being unconscious before landing. It looked like one or the other, it was in the corner of the screen when it happened. Let's just hope that the trainers were just being extra cautious with her, and that she has feeling in her fingers and toes, but they told her to not move the entire time.
Pros are pros, but why the hell do such things happen to the kids playing just for the love of the game? It's so freaking unfair...
She's only a sophomore, so let's hope she gets a huge standing ovation during UNC's first home game next year as she's announced in the "Starting Lineup".
Graham Hays @grahamhays2h Anson Dorrance said Katie Bowen was unconscious for a time but was moving by time ambulance left. Efforts were precautionary. Wish her well.
Hi there. While I have a huge rant about the lack of tv coverage for our sport, and that I had to pay to watch today's game. I will save it and just humbly ask for someone to please post a video or link of the goal. My feed froze right before it and I don't have the patience to wait for the entire game to stream on my computer. My .02 I have been watching the UCLA Keeper since she was 13. And have watched all the ACC teams this year. If UCLA can figure out how to score, UCLA will win out. She will save more penalties if it comes down to it. I wish I had confidence in the UCLA offense that I do in their defense.
Actually, you could have watched for free. If you had used the link on the UNC women's soccer team's schedule, you got right to the game. On the other hand, if you went to the UNC Athletics home page, you had to subscribe. Bummer to have missed the goal. Hopefully, someone has the second overtime for you to watch.
So, what are the match ups now? UCLA vs UVA and VT vs FSU? If I have that correct, I tip the teams in bold to advance to final.
