You can vote for more than one and your votes are public (so we can separate Miami fans from others if we need to). Voting will be concluded within a month. If you want to include a new name, please post below. You can discuss why a certain name is better, but lets not turn this into a argument. The top winners will move on to a new poll.
Miami River Soccer Club With a shirt like this: Colors inspired in the city flag: Shirt inspired in River Plate's: Miami River is the name of the river that cross the city of Miami.
I voted for Athletic Miami but really I think that should be Miami Athletic. Athletic Miami sounds stupid. "Miami Athletic " just like Wigan Athletic.
You are missing an important name. Miami Fusion FC/SC. MLS still owns the rights to that name and it would not shock me. Though i'm voting for MIAMI VICE!!!
Inter Miami is my first choice and makes the most sense to me considering our demographics, history and location.
Tell you what, since we maxed out the options in this poll, we will add any future names to Round #2.
Was just playing GTA V and on the radio, they talked about soccer. Thought they were going to bash it but it was satirical in that it notes how Americans can't watch anything without commercials. So now they are going to integrate commercials every minute. Anyways, the name of the Los Santos soccer team was L.S. Benders. Which got me thinking , Beckham is known for bending the ball. How about the Miami Benders?
Well, if Beckham is involved, why not Miami Goldenballs!?!?!? but i would be alright with Miami Gold...Los Oros de Miami...(perhaps with a gold shirt, black shorts, black socks look that Manchester United had in 2001-02 or 2002-03 season, if i am not mistaken...I am not a Manure fan, but it was a sleek look...perfect for Beck's club).
Since there is nothing on the list that I like & Miami Strikers is NOT going to happen I'm going with recent history and voting for the Miami Fusion, even though the word is that Marcelo Claure does not like the name. I think that a whole lot of outreach is going to be needed to make this team fly and the Miami Fusion, or possibly taking the Div 4 teams Miami United, makes this team much more inclusive and a team for South Florida, not just Miami.
I'm really liking the name "Miami Metro FC or (Metro Miami FC)" alot, it's a unique football name in the world of International footballing, while at the same time it's very common name to the American sports fan. The name is so different from anything else we've heard associated with this Miami team that it may just work. I'm also a big fan of "Club Atletico Miami", it just sounds like a name a Miami soccer club should be called.
The Miami Fusion name was meant to be an inclusive name bringing together all the soccer fans of South Florida and also in Miami Metro FC or (Metro Miami FC) it's an inclusive name, although the team is a Miami based team it also is inclusive of the entire Miami metropolitan area with that name, I like it and think many folks in the area could levitate to it as well.
I like Miami Metro too and had thought of it before but it reminds me of where Dexter Morgan used to work.
Why don't you call it Miami Beach Metro F.C? That sounds like the perfect name. It has Miami Beach which people think is cool and sexy. It has Metro which is what people like. Another name could be Inter Miami Beach F. C.
How about Soccer Athletic Miami Beckham's Academy? If Samba in Vice City doesn't bring the Kaka, nothing will.
No Miami Beach nothing please! i doubt anyone will think its cool and its not representative of the whole city.
Don't think Metro is a good idea; to me that's still the NY/NJ MetroStars. I voted International Miami but would prefer simply Miami Internationals. That's pretty cool, I think.
My biggest thought in the naming process is what will Beckham want it called. Well specifically, what will Beckham want "his" club's name to be when he is negotiating with Player X, who he wants to sign or Sponsor X who he wants as a sponsor? I know it shouldn't be more important than say the name the supporters or media want it named, but still. Its a powerful part of the brand. Miami Vice City? Magic City? I think those will not be Beck's first choice. Or 10th.
wouldnt MLS need permission from someone to use "Miami Vice" name? And "Beach" in their name?? Maybe we can get Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey as mascots!?!? terrible idea...or hilarious for rival teams...
Do a play on it: make it Miami Spice. We can have David Beckham and Sonny Crockett in drag as Posh and Mel B.
