So any player news? I know they have lost a couple players from last year to other teams. Any news on new players? An possible diamonds in the rough coming out of the local colleges?
This was a no-brainer, resigning Jason Yeisley to a long-term contract (see bottom of this story about John Rooney for USL off-season moves): http://www.socceramerica.com/article/45656/john-rooney-excited-about-new-home.html
A player Hounds should look at is F Travis Wall. Was a Crew youth player and many thought would get a Homegrown contract. Just won national championchip with DIII Ohio Weslyan. Highly decorated player who grew in Columbus. Scored some goals to help Crew Academy teams win national championchips. Trained with Crew for a few weeks before they left for Florida a few weeks ago but reports say he went to USL combine looking for an opportunity.
Has the schedule been put out yet? Wish you could come out to Fullerton against the Blues, but I don't think that's happening again. I'll have to come visit Allison Park and swing by the new stadium, if that's still on schedule.
schedule been out a couple weeks. http://uslpro.uslsoccer.com/schedules/ I don't think they are expecting to play many games at the new stadium IIRC and your right pittsburgh doesn't travel to LA this year.
What will the new stadium be used for, then? I thought the Hounds were primary tenants. Thanks for that link. Actually found another one pertaining to just our schedule, too. The USL Pro site is kinda goofy to me, sometimes. http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2012/8969532.html#
Here's a new signing for the team from the league site. They signed a local player Richard Costanzo. He's a TJ alum that played college at Penn State and Maryland. He spent the last 2 years playing in Rochester. http://www.uslsoccer.com/scripts/ru...y+E+47116+News/Display/+8969532+43140329+8615
Riverhounds signed long-time City Islander and PSU-alum Anthony Calvano. Calvano relocated to Pittsburgh because of employment opportunities and will be reunited with former Nittany Lions Yeisley and Costanzo. http://blog.pennlive.com/upper90/2012/03/upper_90_qa_anothony_calvano_s.html
Somehow I missed the fact that Yeisley had signed a long-term contract with Richmond and not Pittsburgh. That's a huge loss for the Riverhounds in my opinion, he always played with lots of heart and seemed to carry the team.
Good luck vs the Bucks in the 2nd round of the Open Cup; wait for you here in Chicago. http://www.nasl.com/index.php?id=3&newsid=2299
Thread resurrection: Any news on players for 2013? I read owner/player Kutney saying that players who turned them down before are not doing now so because of the PR from the stadium launch. I wondered who turned them down and who was coming. Any ideas?
If you visit steelarmy.com we've been posting player news as we hear it. The big recent signings have been Jhonny Arteaga, Ryan Kinne, and Mike Seamon.
All very good signings for Hounds. Usually I'm a Pitt hater, being from the other side of the state, but I am really impressed by the stadium and what they are doing.
Here's a link to their 2013 roster. Here's one new addition that I think will help. I remember him doing well with the Rhinos a couple seasons ago. Can't remember the players name, but they previously had a defender that was a fellow Butler resident. Doesn't look like he returned. 11 Alfonso Motagalvan M 2/11/87 Santa Rosa, CA Ft. Lauderdale Strikers http://www.riverhounds.com/pro/Roster/index_E.html
Instead of making new threads I'm bringing this one back as a catch all. Riverhounds sign Joseph Ngwenya http://triblive.com/sports/-topstories/5009062-74/mls-ngwenya-season#axzz2jmUseKto Hounds are creating quite the forward firepower for 2014
For whatever reason I can't find any local articles on the Obodai signing (there have been articles for all the other ones), but they did take out an ad in the paper on Thursday https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/1441476_784308932098_990997559_n.jpg
The Hounds are training down in Houston and have a couple trialists with them: Miro Cabrilo- Forward from Robert Morris University. Brian Fekete- Defender who played for Orlando last year. Joey Dillon- Midfielder / Defender from Georgetown University. Idk if Joey is he correct Dillon. Joey was drafted by RSL in the Super Draft last month so it'd be a bit weird if he was a trialist for the Hounds already. But all I had to go on was the last name and he's the only guy I could find via Google.
