Appreciate all the help and advice with the thread. I'm heading to Europe at the end of this month, and am hoping to see two games in Holland. November 14 (Holland vs. Germany) and November 17, Ajax vs. VVV-Venlo. I actually already registered on the KNVB website for the Oranje game, but I didn't buy anything yet, and I'm not sure if they would be able to leave it at will call for me. And for the Ajax game, I should just show up real early on gameday, and ask a supporter? I hope they speak English well, I don't know a word of Dutch (hopefully I'll learn a bit though!).
How easy is it to get a clubcard? Can you turn up on the day of a game, even if a bit early, and register and get one, or is there some grinding bureaucratic process that takes several days? Rather than the usual Ajax/Feyenoord request, I'm after one for Go Ahead Eagles, for their play-off game on Thursday night - cards are required. I've sent a couple of emails to the club, but they've not bothered replying so far, and I leave for Holland on Wednesday. I'm staying in Haarlem (hopefully well away from the Chelsea hordes) so it's a bit far to go without having a good chance of thinking I'll get in.
In the end I went to the club offices and they took my passport details, and said I could buy a ticket when the ticket office opened, if there were any tickets left. Quite why they bothered with such restrictions when VVV had (by a quick count from a photo) about 70 fans there, is beyond me. As it happened, it was absolutely pissing down with rain before the game, and with an increasing soaked bunch of people queuing outside as kick-off approached, they just opened the exit gates and let everyone through with only a cursory glance at some tickets.
Hi, Heading over in September and mad keen to see Ajax at home...... Is Viagogo the way to go or try the packages the club offer? Any help, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated....especcialy in regards to Viagogo Cheers
http://www.ajaxtravel.com/en has cheaper tickets on offer than Viagogo and there's more variety regarding packages and what section you want to be in.
As some of you may know Oad Reizen (the supplier of the Ajax tourist packages) has gone bankrupt and are not selling Ajax tickets to tourists anymore. This is particularly frustrating for me as I had hoped to go to the Ajax/PSV match in mid-January and now will have to find an alternative way of getting tickets. Fortunately someone I met on my trip to Amsterdam last year gave me her club card details and said that I could buy any tickets I needed for the match with her card. She wasn't able to answer all my questions however and am left with a few for you guys: 1. How many tickets I would be able to buy on each clubcard? I'll be travelling with my girlfriend so hopefully I will be able to buy at least 2 per card. I have heard this number varies depending on the match however.. 2. In addition, when will the tickets for the PSV match be going on sale? It seems like tickets usually go on sale around a month before but I'm not sure if this is the same for such a big match. 3. Also does anyone have any prior experience with viagogo? In case something happens I wanted a backup plan. 4. Finally will there be any problem getting into the ArenA without having my own clubcard? Like I said I do not actually have a card but would merely be borrowing the information from a Dutch friend. I figured restrictions or searches might be tighter since it's a big match. Thanks!!
Hi there, So are there any restrictions for tickets sold over Seatwave? I was thinking of buying tickets to Ajax vs FC Barcelona: http://us.seatwave.com/uefa-champio...ickets/tuesday--november-26--2013/perf/860456 but I don't know if there is some nationality restriction or something (I'll be a visiting Canadian). Thanks!
No nationality restrictions. Tickets are also being sold on sites like Viagogo for International visitors.
Hey guys, I'm planning to go to the firendly match of Colombia in Amsterdam Arena. I checked for tickets in your Federation website, but it seems a bit difficult since it's only in dutch. Is there another secure option for me to order the tickets for the game? Also, can anyone recommend for any decent hotels in Amsterdam and/or near the stadium? and What is the main area in Amsterdam, such as main street or something like that?? I appreciate your help
I'm kinda disappointed that Oad Reizen is gone (??) Sad to say I'm sure that the tickets I bought for the AFC Ajax vs N.E.C. Nijmegen game back in the beginning of September are gone or something. I'd like to get my own clubcard and avoid things like this because other sites to get tickets are even more expensive then Oad Reizen was.
You will find everything you need here (tips, discounts, city events and such) http://www.iamsterdam.com/es-ES/Experience
Hi everyone, so, just to confirm, if I buy a ticket off the web in the UK will I get into the ground without needing an Ajax Club Card? Wanting to watch the NEC Nijmegen game on 3rd of May and would like to get tickets before I book flights and hotel.
Great, thanks for that. Had an email from Live Football Tickets telling me the same thing but they do have a vested interest in me buying them! Anybody had any bad experiences with LFT or am I good to go?
FWIW, I have been to two Dutch games in recent years. First in 2010, I was flying through Amsterdam and stopped for few days. I wanted to see AZ, and I emailed them a few weeks before and they arranged a ticket. The hardest part was paying in advance; since I didn't have a proper European bank account (true story: I went to a bank branch to pay and was told "oh, we don't have money here") I had to go to an exchange house and paid 8 euro fee the pay. But the ticket was no problem. In 2012 I was traveling through Holland and was in Utrecht on a Saturday night, and went to a match with a friend. No problem buying a ticket. Noted, neither game was against a big-name opponent. Always best to arrange ahead. I've dealt with Dutch clubs and they are all very nice. If you decide to go day-of-game, just go to the stadium early, and you should be fine.
Fwiw, I had a layover in Amsterdam back in 2010 and decided to try to see Ajax play. I went to the stadium about two hours early. The game was sold out, and so the window where they apparently sometimes sell tickets on game days was closed. I picked up a cardboard box that was lying around and tore off one side. I then asked someone on the street how to write 'looking for one ticket' in Dutch. I then borrowed a pen from her and then wrote it on the cardboard. I walked around with the sign for about 30 minutes, then had a group of guys offer me their extra at face value. They told me that they were surprised that an American was interested in Dutch football and had heard of Ajax, which is why they were happy to sell me their ticket. I actually ended up going out for a beer with them after the match. I'll try the same approach to try to see Feyenoord when I will be transiting through Rotterdam in a few weeks (fingers crossed). I also contacted the Feyenoord ticket office and they instructed me to visit the Viagogo site, which occasionally puts some tickets released by the club for sale explicitly meant for foreigners (thus you don't need a club card for them). I assume these are sold at some sort of premium. These aren't resales from individuals or touts, but from the club itself (although, if these are above face value, perhaps the club itself is a tout?). I tried to buy other tickets on Viagogo, but purchase required a club number (which I don't have). I have bought lots of tickets to games around the world (including lots that were sold out) at the last minute from people who had an extra, usually at face value or under. Hopefully this trend will continue for the Feyenoord match (actually against Ajax, so I expect this may not be easy).
Hey all, hope you can help me here. I'm in Amsterdam the week starting Monday 20th October. Wanted to see some football when we're there (unfortunately the CL draw wasn't kind) so looking to maybe spend an extra day and get the train along to PSV - Panathinaikos on the Thursday instead. How difficult will getting tickets for this be? Will it sell out, will I have to buy beforehand or is there a chance of just getting them on the day? I don't know the process for visitors getting tickets for Dutch games so any help would be appreciated. Thanks
You can get them on the day. PSV crowd don't really fancy the EL so tickets will be very cheap. Estoril tickets were only €8,75.
So, going to the match on Wednesday... I'll be the guy with the Mexican sombrero... What's there to do around the stadium? I don't really fancy spending time in Amsterdam...since I have done the tourist thing already.
