Im up for it, I like the fact that thia guy is worried about the elephant in the room, which is the stadium, and great way tonget ideas with Architect's, young students with new and innovative ideas, should be great, can't wait for the stadium porn to come out. I believe that with this privately funded stadium and beckham with Claure working together it would definitely be great feat.

So happy that we dont have to fund this thing with our money, just bring MLS Miami already

There are some pics of stadiums on their website (yes they have a website). This also have mock jersey designs all with Publix sponsorship.

The thing that doesn't seem to make sense is a stadium in downtown Miami for only $70-85 million. Surely it's going to cost more than that. Wasn't recently built BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston more than that?

Here is the syllabus for the University of Miami's architecture class where the students are preparing stadium designs for Butini. (see write up on the last page of the PDF).

    http://arc.miami.edu/images/uploads/UpperLevelBallot-Fall2013.pdf

If anyone is interested, the 2 professors that are running the class are Jorge Trelles and Ricardo Lopez.

Evidently this guy wants his own team in this stadium. He does not seem to be affiliated with ClauBecks at all. Things are getting interestinger and interestinger in SoFl.

BTW, MLS wants the team in the glitter and glitz of Miami and only Miami & wants the stadium downtown or centrally located. MLS does not want Broward or Ft Lauderdale. Too small and not international. Obviously Palm Beach is not in the equation either. It's going to be a Miami thing.

They have the Miami U logo on the fifty yard line, so I think your right. Also he said he wants the stadium to have a roof over the fans, so I guess they're just filler.

There's a link to the website. Have to say, the mock logos and Uni's they have already are quite possibly better than anything in the MLS at this moment

Also, if memory serves, Mr Butini said on the last Ultras Alive podcast that he expects his team to take the field in 2017 or 2018. It would take that long to get the stadium built and to do everything right. This would probably make it team #23 or #24.

Yes antique, that is correct, it could be something sneaky here. But I don't know why id he stated in the interview, that this stadium would not be affiliated with the UM teams, that he is part of the ownership group that is gunning for MLS Miami expansion.

And I did read somewhere else that these two have met in Japan, Butini, and the ClaureBecks ownership group, so IF this is indeed true I believe they need each other, because if this Ownership group (Butini and Friends) want a team in MLS they don't have the discount Becks does, and Becks has the discount but no funding for a stadium.

So it would only make sense if they both become joint partners for this Miami MLS project and get asuccesful team out here.

As yet there does not see to be any connection between them at all. I'm still trying to find out if any exists or if the possibility exists that they could get together.

BTW, the key piece of information is his verifying that it is to be in Miami, downtown if at all possible, and not anywhere else in south Florida. Your dream of a strictly Hispanic oriented team in M-D seems to be a definite possibility in 5 years or so. Since he seems so against anything north of M-D maybe the Strikers can use that to there advantage. I can only hope.

ALSO: Mr Butini & group are doing this independently, but would join ClauBecks if that is their desire.

For more about this go to miamiultras.com and link to the Ultras Alive podcast #109. Alessandro Butini is the 1st guest they speak with. Uncle Ed has more info on his blog - football in miami and beyond. There is a link to that on the Ultras site, too. The two links should give you just about everything that is known about this venture so far.

On the Ultras Alive podcast show Mr. Butini did talk about the stadium, he said it would have a roof covering all of the spectators and proper drainage due to the severe rain storms we often get down here. He added that there was two sites they are focusing on at the moment, downtown Miami and possibly some other site on Miami Beach. Butini said that Miami is an event town and the location of the stadium is critical, it has to be centrally located in Miami for this venture to be a successful one.

In regard to the cost of the stadium, it's low because because Mr. Butini will be using the help of the University of Miami with the designing which would eliminate a lot of the cost you would get using an established well known architectural firm. Butini also said that this stadium will be funded completely privately without the use of tax payers money, Butini said he is well aware of the issues within Miami-Dade as it relates to the tax payers and funding for sporting venues.

In my opinion it seems as if Mr. Butini has the stadium side of things well covered, it would make good business sense for both the Butini and Beckham group's to join forces and create a spectacular Miami franchise down here in South Florida which would reap the benefits of such a union for years to come. It's a win win for Miami!!!

If Butini can get stadium design and financing solved, that's a HUGE leg up ahead of anyone else!

Only thing else is location. Downtown sounds like a cool place to put it. Especially with the new train services in the works down there in South Florida.

From what I hear, Miami Beach is a pain to get to with only one main highway leading to it.

There are many routes to Miami Beach, but it could be a logistical nightmare. Miami Beach is a small Island with very high density and it would be very tricky to handle the additional traffic volume created by a 20,000 seat capacity stadium. It's not impossible to build a stadium there, but it will come with more challenges than if the stadium was to be located in downtown Miami.

Well the fact that you have two well heeled interested parties is good overall.

Not sure if that's news but..................

One question, what is the economic scene down in Miami to be able to support so many sports franchises? Like what drives the economy besides it's big tourism angle? Because I hear stories about how much commerce the city makes through trade, then read demo analysis talking about how poor people are away from the Beach and Brickell, etc.

international trade, finance and banking. hispanic soap operas, tv shows and other forms of spanish speaking media has been booming here the last few years. its become a sort of hub for Lat America. and of course the regulars, like tourism which is a large chunk. the city/county has its poor and rich areas like any other major city. its mixed. Brickell and Miami Beach arent the only rich places to live.

If you're an entrepreneur from South America and you want to expand internationally you go to Miami. Or, if you need to import or expand your contacts or export, etc., etc. So, lots of well heeled South American businessmen in Miami.

One indicator is median family income. Unfortunately the best info for that is on the US Census site, but that is closed down right now.

Other sites give M-D median income at $40,219
    Broward's at $48,063
Palm Beach County from a different site at $49,517

I'm not a statistician so I really don't know what that indicates other than folks in the 2 northern counties make $8K to $9K more annually than the folks in M-D. Also, the indicators for M-D and Broward are that since 2000 the median has gone up in M-D by 21.24% and in Broward by 23.99%.

The earlier posters mentioned Brickell and Miami beach as places that them what got may live in. They forgot Coral Gables, Pinecrest (O J Simpson's old stomping ground...;)..) and parts of Aventura.

They did fail to mention Liberty City, Overtown, Little Haiti up through North Miami, East Little Havana and even Hialeah where folks that are not that well off, if not in poverty, reside.

There is money in M-D, but the county is not all glamor, glitter, glitz & the lifestyle of the rich and famous. IMO, to succeed ClauBecks, or whoever does get the franchise, will have to appeal to a large part of the well to do in M-D and/or get at least one of the northern counties to attend in numbers to survive.

We'll see how it plays out after Mr Beckham makes his announcement.
