The US women will come to the Alamodome on Sunday, October 20th for an exhibition match against Australia. Tickets go on Sale On Wednesday and can be purchased at http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0C004B2DE017D0A1 If you want to stand with the Crocketteers you can purchase your tickets now at http://www.crocketteers.com/alamodomesoccer/ Is this match being used in some small way to see if San Antonio is ready for Major League Soccer?
I agree. This won't test how MLS-ready San Antonio is. This is woman's soccer, probably one of the worst forms of soccer, right behind Pacific Islands' men teams. Hell, the German Women's National Team has lost to Borussia Dortmund's U-15 teams by 4-0 or more.... And the German side is vastly superior to America's squad... That just tells you what you'll get to see at the Alamodome.
How, exactly is the German squad vastly superior to the US' squad ? We're the top squad in the world ... and perform better at the WC than the Germans do. Do you just diarrhea every time you post out of habit ?
I don't get why people hate on women's soccer. Obviously they aren't as athletic as men, but that doesn't mean the games can't be fun to watch. And if you aren't interested, that's fine, but why rant about why it sucks? Sheesh.
Not quite true. The Germans won consecutive World Cups, beating the US squad on US soil. They've also won 8 out of the 11 European championships that have been held. (European Championships are WAY harder to win than CONCACAF championships...... Duh. I'm still laughing at the US's pathetic appearance in the 2010 Gold Cup... 3rd place lmao.) Perform better at the World Cup? Get your facts straight please. Both the US and Germany have won the same amount of World Cups at 2. The ONLY reason the US team is ranked higher is because of the US's CONCACAF victories in their regional championships. The US obviously can beat bullshit teams like the Dominican Republic or other CONCACAF teams besides Mexico. This is why I'm a strong supporter of how it was before CONCACAF was made. Make North America AND South America compete together for spots in the World Cup. This way, the United States don't get free bullshit rides to participation into the World Cup and would have to face better sides like Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, etc... instead of Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, the Bahamas, etc...
The US got to the final of the last World Cup and lost in penalties. Then the US won the Olympics. The US is also undefeated this year. Yeah, Germany had a lot of success in the previous couple cycles. And on any given day they could beat us. But they are not "vastly superior" to us - no one is. As for the "pathetic appearance in the 2010 Gold Cup"...yeah, the USWNT lost to Mexico 2-1. It's also the only time Mexico has ever beaten the women's team ever. So I'm not sure why you'd cherry pick the single worst result the US team ever had as indication of the strength of the program. The US team has as much claim as any to be the best in the world. If you don't like women's soccer, whatever. But making up bullshit about how other nations are so much better than the US in women's soccer is empirically not true.
Your post isn't .... I see that. There have been 6 women's world cups. The US has never finished worse than 3rd, EVER. Germany has finished 4th, and twice has failed to finish in the top 4, including this last world cup on their home soil. See above, for you know ... the facts.
