    It's that time.
Time to "Combine" all levels of play.
    International and club.

Who are the Top 20 teams in the world in terms of "Mystique" and overall Fame (and Reputable) ???
Let's reveal the list, shall we ..........

This just in. The list has been expanded to Top 23.

    Top 23
1.) U.S Women's National Team (most famous women's team in the world)
2.) Lyon (when you combine Schelin, Abily, Necib, and Rapinoe, you've got a rock star team)
    3.) Germany
4.) Japan (three years ago, they're not in the Top 10 on this list. now, they're in the Top 4)
5.) Portland Thorns (Sinclair & Morgan bump Portland in to the Top 5. "Thorns" have the best team name)
6.) Brazil (Samba Queens. Marta Marta Marta)
    7.) France
    8.) Wolfsburg
    9.) Tyreso
    10.) Kobe
    11.) Western New York Flash
    12.) Sweden

18.) FFC Frankfurt (they used to win more titles, but they're still on this list)
    19.) Chicago Red Stars

Chicago Red Stars are above Canada? And what about PSG and Liverpool?

PSG should for sure be somewhere above Arsenal and Malmö. Livepool possibly or just below so they may or may not belong on the list. There are a few other oddities (while Marta in a Brazil WNT is higher than Marta and the pretty much all-star crew of Tyresö for one) but omitting PSG is the big one.

No Göteborg FC where Lotta Schelin and Hope Solo played?
No Boston Breakers been around since WUSA days.

"Thorns" maybe a good name but they're not reputable. The staff isn't anyway.

Is there really a mystique around Wolfsburg? They only found success recently.

Liverpool is poised to win the WSL this season. And they have the backing of the men's side. I think they deserve to be somewhere on the list, even though the women's side doesn't have a big history of success (Tyresö doesn't have much history of success either).

Beating Lyon for the Champions League... what more mystique do you need?

Yes, but to be considered a great team you need either the history or the players that make it likely Tyresö have one of those Liverpool...

The list seem to contrary to WPS_M... statement to be based on how good the team are now with just minor considerations given to reputation and history. Otherwise Umeå would be on it and Tyresö not and Frankfurt way higher than Wolfsburg or Thorns.

    Good list!
    Good list!

I would say Wolfsburg deserves a higher rating than Lyon since they're are the Euro champs.

Now due to his excellent contract Herdman can buy even more mouse for his hair & will be determined to make Canada stronger than ever, especially with their excellent contributions they showed in the NWSL(Canuckians Sinclair & Leblanc leading the Thorns to the championship). So much higher ranking for Canada

Good call including the Tar Heels! though someone will have to break the news to them they can't sub a zillion times if they ever play someone out of the college

I would add Paris St Germain, another super team Europe has created( naturaly from the continent that gave us the bourgous & proleterieate!)

and of course with Erika Tymrak, Bayern Munich will be another force to be reckon with!

Yes, this is true. The right balance between teams that were relevant in the past, with being relevant still in the present.

Obviously FCKC wasn't relevant in the past, but they jumped out and bit everyone this year, with their star players and overall style of play. They are one of the more "rock star" teams in the world now (immediately). Lyon obviously has the history over them, but FC Kansas City may continue to move up this list.

OK if this is about status and not just what can I throw on the field today

    1. US
1a. Germany (they dominated for the better part of the 2000s)
    3. Norway (How the hell r they at 22 with a WWC and an Olympics?)
    4. Lyon
    5. Brazil (Sure they never win but no one ever wants to play them)
    6. North Carolina (sure theyre not a match talent wise but 21 NCAA titles in 31 years...that's mystique and a half)
    7. Japan
    8. Frankfurt
    9. WNY Flash (hard to assign mystique to anyone in new league but the Flash r on top every year)
    10. INAC Kobe (Lyon, Japanese style)

Huh, Mystique and overall (positive) fame....o_O

OK, I know you enjoy finding increasingly gratuitous reasons, to place the U.S.wnt first in every possible top of whatever list you make next, but seriously, when you decide to critique using mystique and fame, you may of well said factors that have nothing to do with the actual football being played; especially with some of the order/names provided on your list, lol.

But if this is the way it's going to be done, then here's another list guaranteed to annoy a few more people...:whistling:

    Top Mystique/Fame teams ever...
    1. Brazil '03 - '08
The first women's side to make guys who were/remain highly skeptical of female football's potential, all sit up and say, "wow".

    2. Japan 2011
Just look at the typical patronising response of the U.S. fan whenever you bring up how good Japan 2011 were, and you quickly understand why Japan, and the idea of (I feel misplaced) mystique, go together very well, lol.

    3. Germany 1997 - 2013
Seriously, eventually combining being tournament top scorers without conceding a single goal, on route to a second successive WC victory on foreign soil, while also managing to maintain 6 consecutive Euro's victories...:speechless:

    4. Elite Scandinavian teams
The benefits of an egalitarian society, not only provided the platform for some the sports best teams and players ever, it also gave the GOAT we call Marta, conditions to eventually develop into everything she could never have been in her own nation, or in fact anywhere else for that matter too.

    5. Lyon
The worlds first and still currently best serious/elite fully pro women's side, built on and around the infrastructure of a well known men's club...

    6. China
How the hell did China's women get so high, to fall so low, I will never know, but at their peak, China were every bit the flag bearers of the superior technical/tactical approach we see in the current WC champs, and this was a full decade before we got to see another team finish what they started....:speechless:

    Top Mystique/Fame right now....
    1. Germany
Real consistency to change/evolve with the wider future of the sport is tough, and once again it was at the very heart of their latest reason to be loathed, as they won another senior Euro in the face of wide spread irrational hopes for their eventual demise.

    2. USA
As the nation with the sports first true female global star, every 3 years between Olympics and the WC, the greatest team your now relentlessly forced to hear of, tells us once more why they should be wining the next WWC, on the back of a near impenetrable level of popular Olympic fame.

    3. Norway
Loads of good will for them right now, but pre Euro's, they were also stupidly written off as an old world relic, even though people should know they will always posses one of the worlds best structures/pathways for developing new female footballing talent...

problem now with the list is that Wolfsburg is currently only at #10 in the bundesliga standings. Only one spot above relegation!

They've only played two games. Still plenty of season left. They'll be in the top 3 when the season is over.

lol, that particular '08 crop of Brazilian ladies, would have had to of been packed full of significantly prettier talent...;) than either Erika or Calan, to make me miss all the obvious on field failings connected to that not so memorable U-20 team...:whistling:

OK, I know you enjoy finding increasingly gratuitous reasons, to leave the U.S.wnt out of the reckoning, but seriously....

Wowwww... seriously...did you read WPS_Movement's original post in here..?

Go take a look again, as it may just help you make a lot more sense of my clearly slanderous rationale...;)

"Who are the Top 20 teams in the world in terms of "Mystique" and overall Fame (and Reputable)"...LOL

Yes, it's a combined ranking of teams that are reputable, famous (including tradition), recent success (wins, etc.), and level of mystique.

Yes, and I created my own stream lined variation list, formed around the very same highly opinion based factors,
you highlighted at the beginning of the thread too.

So if you read my post as a fan of any one particular team, and didn't like it, then... oh well; because on random factors such as mystique, fame, or tradition, a more global perspective on this topic, could always produce a set of very different views, to potentially upset the pykrete beliefs of the various fanboy's around here...:whistling:

as long as you include yourself among the various fanboys....

because no women's soccer list that includes that includes tradition and global perspective would rationally exclude the uswnt....

It could have been even more epic if I left them out...;)
LOL, show's how much time you took to read my list, because it's quite obvious I put the USWNT in my "Top Mystique/Fame right now" list, in the #2 position no less...

But like I said before, if you want to get annoyed about the lack of interest shown by me towards any one particular team, fine. The odd parameters initially set for this rather pointless thread, already came with one obvious agenda, so if my opinion seems to fit with whole different strain of thought, great, because to me this probably means I did an even better job than I originally planned too.

You forgot the s - lists.

...and it's quite obvious that i'm just querying your rationale in excluding them from your "ever" list.
