Schürrle had a decent match today against United. First as a CF, then as a RW, he worked hard offensively, tried to create chances, and was overall very lively and tidy. Arguably Chelsea's best attacker today. Definitely looked better than the "going through the motions" Schürrle we saw last season with Leverkusen.

That shows that you didnt watch him last season. The boy was always running, always trying. He makes the most sprints every match. His problems were the decision making, shooting(not consistent) and selfishness. He doesnt ''go through the motions''.

As a matter of fact, Andre Schuerrle is as little a winger as he is a striker. I dont know why people are surprised

True. He'd thrive as a secondary striker in a 4-4-2. But he's very versatile because he's very good at the universal basics of attacking; shooting, passing, and off-the-ball movement.

I see. Worried he got demoted or something. Not sure where he's going to fit in in Villas-Boas' 4-3-3 next year.

He can play CM. if he fails, it won't be because he didn't have a role in the team.

Yep. I was just responding where Holtby might fit in a 4-3-3 should AVB feel a inclination to use him.

Schürrle with another start and another, from what I hear, solid performance with an assist.

He won't start for long. Willian has arrived.

He's already held his spot this long and Mourinho seems to like him, so we'll see. Needless to say I'm somewhat more optimistic about Schürrle to Chelsea than I originally was.

I thought Schurrle looked great. The best attacking presence for Chelsea with very limited opportunities. Most importantly, he was a lot smarter with the ball than I've seen. I guess Mou is having his influence already..

Götze was also a very positive presence today.

Nico Mueller continues to be on a goal scoring roll to start off the season, another goal today (5 in 4 games). Mainz currently up 1-0 against Hannover.

Maxi Beister sets up both goals with 2 assists as Hamburg leads 2-0 against Braunschweig.

Base on performance up to Matchday 4, the best XI should be:

    -------------------------------ter Stegen
    --Lahm-----------Boateng---------------Knoche---------Schmelzer(No other choice)
    -----------------------Geis------------Schweinsteiger
    --S.Sam-------------------------Kroos-----------------------N.Mueller
    ----------------------------------Kruse

    backup:

    GK) Schaefer
    DF) Jantschke, Diekmeier, Rudiger
    MF) Reus, Herrmann, S.Bender
    FW) Volland

Some new faces like Knoche, Geis, Diekmeier(?), n Rudiger have been playing very well.

Volland n Kruse both are having very good seasons n better than the veterans like Kiessling

Mesut Oezil with another world class performance, a beauty of a goal and a beauty of an assist as Arsenal dominate Napoli in the Champions League. Arsenal wins their 10th straight in all competitions. Mesut Oezil heading for World Player of the year with these performances--especially if Arsenal come from nowhere to win the EPL and go deep in the CL.

Beyond my love for this player, I thought it would be fun to share with you comments from the Guardian. Here are the responses of Arsenal fans and footy fans in Britain to Oezil.

"For all the noise about the high entry fee’s at the emirates, Oezil must be worth the fee alone. He’s just unique. Alvaro Arbeloa said it best when he said that Oezil is Oezil, he’s style is just so unique, he can’t be compared to anyone. Words cannot describe how envious i am that Arsenal supporters are able to see him every other week at the Emirates." MayowA

"Imagine a left-footed Zidane without the flamboyance, but with the advantage of being consistent and you get Ozil...The more you watch him, the more Arsenal fans will realize that Ozil has this knack of always picking the right pass with the right weight on it. Insane consistency." Soothsayer7

"This for me is what makes Oezil insanely good; his consistency. His ability to virtually always make the right decision. His incomparable style of play with which he appears to play at his own pace on cruise control even when sprinting as he did for the second goal. Madrid's loss is both Arsenal's and the Premier League's gain."
    MayowaA

"I know you Arsenal fans probably get great pleasure in watching United falter so badly (along with fans of every other team, so i'm not singling you out). But I have to say, i've always enjoyed watching Arsenal and this team is the most impressive I've seen in quite a number of years. And c'mon, who doesn't love watching Özil strutt his stuff, what a boss!" utdindeclinesince92

Lewis Holtby wins the game for Spurs today with a sweet left footed strike. Clutch goal in the 82 min. Also his first official PL goal. Had a great cross mins later for Paulinho but stretch save by Stekelenberg.
