It was a nice positive display for Tahiti. They could have bunkered all day to lose on a smaller margin but they decided to go out, play and show something and they actually achieved that not only by scoring a valuable goal and almost two but also by displaying some good offensive sequences. Eventually physique and defence let them down.

I must say I had dreamed in the past that Vahirua could have played a couple of games for France and scored so that the World could witness his trademark paddle celebration. Needless to say that with this collective paddle move, my wish came true in spectacular fashion !

It's going to be hard against Spain...

when he was good he was very very good, but when he was bad he was horrid.

one of his bad habits hasn't completely left him though. every time he fluffs something it's like the world comes to and end for him when he needs to remain involved in play. i remember one time in lyon when he lost the ball in front of goal... a few seconds later it ended up right at his feet again and all he would have needed to do was tap it in... but he was looking skyward, head in hands, moaning at himself... i think that was the moment that made nanar feel that even if he left on a free it was good riddance to bad rubbish.

He showed real tenacity to score Brazil's first though, maybe he has matured a bit.

the fairytale would be "i left lyon with much still to prove and the problem was mostly my own fault. after disappointing everyone's high hopes, mine included, and leaving comme un voleur without even giving OL a chance to reecoup their investment. i owe it to them but mostly to myself, to try again in europe, and with the club that, once believed in me. this time i won't let them down."

but that would require about 10 times the selflessness and maturity the average footballer has and about 10 MILLION times what fred has.

FC Barca must be either really dumb or really arrogant. They go after players from clubs who have a ton of money and dont have to sell. Thiago Silva they failed to get and now they're going after David Luiz from Chelsea. When Chelsea refuse just like PSG did it should be a nice reality check for them.

So Henri Saivet et M'Baye Niang will represent Senegal and have accepted call-ups for their upcoming friendly against Zambia..

Did any of the two have a shot with the French NT??

Its kinda crazy.. because if you look at Senegal's striker depth.. Niang and Saivet are almost glorified bench warmers, no way they play over Demba Ba, Papis Cisse, Moussa Sow or Dame N'Doye..

I wonder what made them come to this decision seeing as both are so relatively young.. also heard they will try to bring on Modibo Diakite and Aly Cissokho.. both aren't French NT material I assume. I know Aly has played for France once already.

LOL, right.. I knew he wanted to represent France.. I assume they're trying to sell that "Guaranteed spot in Brazil" pitch to him. He seems hell bent on representing France, doesn't really affect Senegal with the fire power they have up front, but he would've been a boost none the less.

Cissokho can't play for Senegal, he's already been capped for the senior French team. He's stuck with France.

    According to FIFA:

Friendly match appearances do not commit a player to one country (though a player is usually able to switch to another national side only if he held the nationality of the second country at the time he represented his first choice national team); Jermaine Jones played three friendlies for Germany in 2008 but has played for the United States since 2010

Not a bad squad at all. Maybe they should get together and try to qualify some day :p
