Armada would be an excellent name, since it does tie in with the First Coast explorers just down the coast. Perhaps the supporters' soccer club, formed to take on the media and others for charity, would be the "FCFC" First Coast Football Club?

Its good nobody has mentioned any repetitive names like Jax FC or Jax City or Jax United. It is starting to become overkill we cannot have teams all having the same moniker.

Not a bad idea, though I'd rather see "Lokomotiv" written in English to hasten those repetitive explanations Real Salt Lake fans still have to dish out to newcomers.

Loco-motive... that's crazy talk in these parts...

Trains may be big, but that beautiful ocean and without the port, there are no trains.

    ARMADA!!!
It just rolls off the tongue...

And with all the Navy Blue CSX trains rolling through town, you need Navy Blue kits!

When choosing primary team colors, try to avoid clashing with other clubs, especially here in Florida.

Tampa Bay Rowdies = Green & Gold

Fort Lauderdale Strikers = Red & Yellow

    Orlando City = Purple

VSI Tampa Bay FC = (Who gives a crap? They probably won't be around much longer anyways.)

Your safest choice is Blue or some variation of it. Navy Blue seems appropriate for a Jacksonville club for obvious reasons.

Not to mention Norfolk Southern and Florida East Coast......a railroad motif wouldn't be bad....

I wasn't aware that Orlando's color was purple (and I kinda like purple) but, hey, they're a different league right....

Every time, I drive by NAS Jax, I see that we are the birthplace of the Blue Angels. How about these colors,

I like those colors, but the gold/yellow is an issue with Tampa Bay and Ft. Lauderdale.

Orlando - odds are they are MLS sooner than later.

Navy and a light purple would work, red as a third color. Or Sky blue.

Sunshine Soccer Group will release a temporary logo for the NASL team tomorrow. It should have similar colors to SSG's current logo (which draws on the colors for the City of Jacksonville flag).

    Stay tuned.

This was posted a while ago on another forum, one that focuses on sports logo design. The creator created an alternate history thread and imagined what it would be like if soccer took a similar path in America as it did in England. He presented 64 teams, crests and kits, that comprised the 3 tiers of the America Premier League.

    This was his Jacksonville concept:

This again was just a concept piece. If you want to see the rest of his fictional league, you can go to his blog page or the forum where he posted it.

Here is the placeholder logo.... found on First Coast Elite FB page.

As long as the team name doesn't end up as Jacksonville Generals, I'm ok with it.

I don't want to be contrarian and the colors don't bother me but I can do without Jackson on the horse.... stick a ship in there and go with Armada.....and let the 'Clockwork Orange" talk begin

So let me get this straight . . . you'd like for the team name to be Armada? I'd of never gathered that from the last 4 pages in this thread.

Seriously though, I think we get your point

We know where I stand: Jax Inferno SC forever . . . It even makes more sense with the new badge.

Like I had said previously, I'll like the team name no matter what, but when somebody tries to push something down our throats it starts to be a bit much.

    Settle Down :)

Jacksonville Generals with Andrew's Army would be fine with me.

I'll take Inferno.....I'll take Armada.....Don't like the Generals though.....

Thumbing through Wikipedia, I see there is an LA class sub named the USS Jacksonville.
Again, not knowing Naval lingo, is there any cool slang for sub sailors? Do they call those subs Boomers...not a great name but maybe there is something else.

I would suggest the "Aquamen" just to annoy my kids who, for some reason, despise Aquaman. We can have the orange and green uniforms....(Just kidding guys)

Finally, why am I up at 4 in the morning worrying about this?

Kind of like a lie, if you say it enough it becomes the truth.....

Generals - First thing that comes to mind is the Washington Generals.

Aquaman got a bad rap from Big Bang Theory ;)

The USS Jacksonville (SSN-699), as a Los Angeles class fast attack submarine, would not be referred to as a "boomer". The U.S. naval slang term "boomer" is used to describe ballistic missile submarines. To date, the ballistic missile submarines of the United States Navy's submarine force have been of the George Washington, Ethan Allen, Lafayette, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, and - currently - Ohio classes.

I love it, ask a question, and Big Soccer will have an answer. Thanks Brian. I should know more jargon than I do. My dad served on the Saratoga during the Cuban Missile Crisis era.

I still want a naval theme to our team's name. As panicfc mentioned above, "Generals" conjures up Harlem Globetrotters games.

Boomers are the nuclear missile boats. The ones on the East coast are out of King's Bay. Not Jacksonville, but just across the border. Nearly every LA boat was named after a city, so there really isn't any uniqueness to it.

I was a surface nuke who worked with a lot of submariners during my shore duty. I have a lot of names for them, none of them cool. :)

The main navy base is NAS Jacksonville. There's some ships based nearby(iirc), but the unique thing about it is the anti-sub planes and helicopters. The planes are organized into "patrol squadrons". The main plane is the "Orion", there's a brand new one called "Poseidon". The helicopter is named "Sea Hawk".
