The French league is a semi professional championship we can say as there are two main categories of players , the amatuer and the professional , and these two categories are also divided by the transfers rules .
The amateur last day of transfers , even though is better to call it mutations instead of transfers , was July 15 .
The professionals , those under federal contract and the foreigners , have until September 22 .
For the players without a license and those being sacked I don't know the exact date .
Is too soon to start writing about teams as many things are still going behind the scenes , for example Saida Akherraze , very good right back and junior NT member , just signed for Saint-Etinne from Paris SG .

Really? I'm glad I asked, I was sure I had read somewhere that the last day for transfers was August 31.

wrong! there is no deadline for signing players, the only limitation is that no girl can play for two D1 clubs in the same year.

sorry, i wrote this before i saw debzy's answer and i'm sure she has the facts. but i think the fed rules she mentions (which apply to ALL amateur players, even 10 year olds) grant enough exceptions that changing clubs is always possible. the 22 sept. for pro players though i'd never heard of? is it new?

For those who can read French, here is (attached file) the FFF doc establishing the rules about the Federal contracts (FC) for players in D1 (unlimited number per team) and D2 (limited to 5 per team).

The player with a FC is salaried through her activity's salarial status, and not through her club's status. She is salaried of a sports association only (not of a professional structure).

The Federal contract is a professionnal (or semi-professional) contract, with an obligation for the player to work (for a player - play football) at least half of her time.

If a player was already with a FC the year before (with another club), her new club has the obligation to give her a FC.

A foreign player (above 18 years old) must sign a FC. The number of extra-UE players with a Federal contract can't be more than 3 per team.

There are more details and more various cases (age, requalification to an amateur status, etc) of course...

I summarized very succinctly and let you having a closer look at it. ;)

I'm not sure why I'm surprised by these answers. It doesn't matter what it is, it always has to be as complicated as possible in France. Or so it seems.

Well , I don't know about the exceptions but the general rule is , non professional deadline July 15 , professional deadline September 22 , I think the rules started last season but I am not sure .

A - apparently serious - rumor sends the excellent Brazilian international player ERIKA to PSG. It is said in Brazil that she could sign in the next days. Of course, it has to be confirmed...

That would be a real fantastic move, both for PSG and for D1. 25 years old, Erika is a real star. She is currently playing for Centro Olimpico, and played formerly for Santos. She also played in USA (FC Gold Pride). She is a tall (173 cm) either defender (CD or RB) or defensive midfielder (her best position, imho). She scored one of the most beautiful goals of the 2011 WC against Equatorial Guinea. See it in this video (she wears #13 and the goal's action begins about 50 seconds after the start of the video)

A very interesting (as usual, actually) interview of Farid Benstiti, for those who understand French.

For the others, and to summarize his words :

    - He didn't find the Euro was of a very high level. The best organized teams (Germany, Norway, Denmark) were present the end, and it was normal. The last four (those + Sweden) + France were the best teams. He was not surprised by England's result.

He strongly criticizes some D1's coaches (probably Lair mainly, even if he didn't quote his name) who spent their time in the media criticizing heavily Bini, instead of showing a solidarity.

    - He is satisfied with PSG's last season, even if there is still this big regret of the Cup SF lost against Saint-Etienne, but he knows that it taught a lesson to the players, already obvious at the next game (decisively won against Juvisy).

    - The recruitement so far is exactly what he wanted, and even better since he found that the two young U19 Léa Declercq and Ghoutia Karchouni can be fully used during the season. For him, they proved they can be starters, when he previoulsy saw them rather in the reserve.

    - His main goal is to bother Lyon in its domination, trying to come closer to it and even, if possible, win the title.

    - He really things that PSG can win the CL this coming season. For a possible triple (championship, Cup, CL), why not, but it's extremey difficult and depends on many things, including a bit of luck.

    - The Qatari owners are expecting from him a new qualification for CL and one title (any). Benstiti says that this year will be hard to qualify again, because Juvisy who recruited cleverly with Brétigny and Deville, will still be there.

Yeah, Erika can play as a center-back, but since PSG already has Krahn, Delannoy and Georges, I can't see the point. Never saw her playing in the full-back position, she would probably look as awkward as Corine Franco. She can also play as a striker, but again, PSG already has Delie. I think she would be better suited as a central midfielder and, more specifically, as a deep-lying playmaker.

I really look forward to seeing Öqvist play for Montpellier, but I have to say I'm getting a little confused by their signings. And by the MHSC team in general. Am I wrong or do they have a LOT of forwards, and primarily players that can play in a lot of positions? Öqvist has mostly played as a forward, although she has some experience playing as an attacking midfielder too, particularly in the Euros. Beattie can play almost anywhere, their left and right backs seem to be different almost every time I see a lineup, Lattaf is a forward that plays a lot as a winger and sometimes as a No 10.... Does someone here know the team well enough to take a guess at what the starting lineups are going to look like this fall?

Well, that may be a good thing if you're able to change your players of position at each game... as long as they collectively can manage it. So, you won't be the only one to be confused, but their opponents too :p
What I am waiting for is to know who will play as striker, in place of Delie. Neither Asseyi or Makanza can't take the position.

According to my sources : The front 2 should be Lattaf Oqvist, Beattie Gadea/Meilleroux will be the center back pairing. Probably a 4-4-2 system.

Well the new coach has not really commentated on his midfield options yet.

Interesting. I would have guessed that Makanza would forward, isn't she a striker? That's a wise move though to play Öqvist as a forward and not as a winger/attacking midfielder like Sweden did since her defensive skills are... well you all probably watched the Euros so you know. A collective sigh of disappointment went out all over Sweden whenever she touched the ball.

Good to see you, marctol. :)

marctol is right: Erika is at her best when employed as a midfield general. Yes, she's played as a CB but that was the worst experiment ever that, hopefully, died with the "Lima Era".

I have seen Marina used in midfield and as a forward in recent seasons. I know Montpellier were looking at adding a quality forward and a quality midfield player, so we will see if they sign another forward or midfield player soon to know where Oqvist will play.

I believe they scouted Oqvist during this Euro , at least accurately , this probably means she will play as a winger . Anyway , a married mother of 30 years old who decided to change her life , actually not only her life but her husband and child too , is very modern.....Erika at PSG is a big recuitement , if it happens of course , Paris has only five defenders in the roster in this moment , Houara , Boulleau , Georges , Delannoy , Krahn and Debonne they let Akherraze and Amaro go , so another one would be more than beneficial considering how long and physically exhausting this upcoming season will be .

Well she did mention just before the Euros that since both her and her husband (are they actually married? ) current contracts where ending (he is a pro-icehockey players in Swedens first or second tier) and they was not sure where they would end up and how to make it work out.
Guess their are not many oportuinties for a pro-icehocky player in the south of France or...?

Last I saw their civil status mentioned (which was the a week or two after her daughter was born) they called him her sambo (swedish term for live-in longtime boyfriend/girlfriend) and that solution is a rather common up here.
