Do you think its possible the Sunshine Soccer Group plans to morph their current badge into something applicable to the team? I'm not sure of the name they'd use, but you have to think it was part of the conversation when they were branding. For what it is worth, I do like the colors. [IMG]

I hope not. Gray/silver is the main color - not great on a uniform. orange/yellow - Ft Lauderdale/Tampa/... meh.

A white uniform with a gold/orange sash and then the badge in the upper right corner with silver/dark gray numbers would be pretty tight.

Agree. Is Jax unique in that avoiding a major college's color combination is a must? I know my Gator friends won't put garnet and gold on, while I get squeamish in orange and blue. :)

I wouldn't care if they settled on the official Taliban colors . . . They would quickly become a large portion of my wardrobe.

as an outsider from Cascadia...I really like the name Armada (as mentioned). It's not doopy, it's solid and has a great naval theme which is something that hasn't been touched too much in pro sports.

    Jacksonville Armada (perfect.)

also, the Sunshine Group logo is pretty dope, hopefully they can morph it from that.

Definitely Armada. The sunshine logo is already a badge, so that works. Blue as a main color and grey maybe?

Dark brown, beige, and olive green? It could work. ;)

Armada.... I like it.... Navy Blue colors.... I like it!

Seriously, avoid the local colleges colors, and I'll be happy.

To irritate the heck out of the other team or to welcome our team onto the fields , we need to blow those "naval whistles". Are they for "all aboard"? or for when the admiral is coming aboard? I am not well versed in naval tradition.

    Here's what I'm talking about.

We'll have to dig up some awesome Dante's Inferno quotes if we went with that name

I've always liked the dual meaning soccer names. For you guys, "Wingers" could fit.

^ Yep, that is what they are called. Maybe have one over the speaker system done by someone enlisted in the Navy?

I love the name Armada, but I can't get this old Kids in the Hall sketch out of my head. I may be the only person in JAX to remember this... Hours of my college experience wasted watching this show.

    Armada is a great name!
Colors could be Navy blue and gold, or red white and blue

I'll support the team regardless of the name (But God I hope FC is not a part of it). I will say though, that since the Sun is pretty much a big raging inferno, that their badge would play nicely into that name

Agree with you ChuckDzzNutz. I will support the team no matter what name they choose. In a perfect world however I hope these things are included in it:

    1. Name the team the Jacksonville _________. No Duval, no First Coast (which is funny because Nassau County is technically Florida's First Coast, North Florida, etc. City and nothing else.

    2. No FC/Sporting/Real/United/other ridiculous Euro-poser name. If you want to make sure people know its a soccer club, or if you have plans to run teams in multiple sports, then by all means toss an SC or AC on the end. #Murica.

    3. Choose a name the hardcore fans/supporters are in favor of. The casual fans will come no matter what, make sure the people who will be spreading the Gospel of Soccer in JAX have a stake in the name.

Armada - hey guys, thanks for the support. Hopefully the powers that be are checking out the thread.

Second, colors - navy, sky blue, red.

Sky blue looks great with jeans, and when you are merchandising to a male demographic ages 16-45, jeans are a common component.
