    IN "LEO" WE TRUST! :D
The appreciation that I have for him as a player and a person is so big, the only player with Valderrama that because of them I started to become a fan of this NT. Wish him all the best, I'm confident of him & Bolillo to lead us to Brasil 2014 and hopefully to see him one day as the coach of Nacional & the NT. A huge mistake by the FCF not to give him the sub-20 as a WC prospect after Lara's failures.

I don't think he should be too quick to sign for Dept Cali because after tonight I don't think Osorio is going to have a job soon. Junior should fight to get him as well if we don't qualify to the final as well

I wish he'll come to us. He was my favorite player along with Valderrama and I really like his work as a coach. Even though he didn't do that good with the NT (to be honest he was only 3 months in the job), I do think that he will be one of the good coaches in the future. He'll be perfect for us.

He had our 1st win in Bolivia in forever, we lost to Argentina(we almost always do in games that count) and we tied Venezulea( we been doing very badly against them recently. The last 2 results were when we missed our 3 key players in Zuniga, Falcao and Guarin. He was bad at making subs but hey what Colombian coach isn't.

I think with Nacional or Cali he would make them easily champion with their rosters only real team that could compete with them would be Torres Millos. Junior is up in the air because we are going to lose Teo and Dayro w/o them it's going to be a different team

Do you guys think Leonel will stay at Dept Cali or will he go to DIM/Nacional?

I mean it looks like Dept Cali is low on money and makes him play all youth players for the most part. I think he wants to continue the project at Dept Cali and make them Champions after a couple seasons. Nacional I think has the same problems he faced at the NT with people in the back ground that mess with the team but they can give him a blank check for players.

He has done great every where he has coached. He was only given 4 games with the SNT so you can't really hold that against him. I'd love him to coach Junior but never will happen because our next coach will be Comensana after Lopez is fired in 6 months

Alvarez is a great coach, he just came in too soon for the NT. He was right about saving money to go to Brazil 2014 :)

    great coach?

what has he accomplished so far to make him a great coach? He has potential. yes. But we use this term "great" to loosely nowadays. Look at Jaime de la Pava. Many rated him so highly and he crashed pretty badly.

I did use great loosely, I meant as if he had potential, and his teams that he has coached have some sort of identity.

I'm just actually worry about life after Pekerman, so I'll choose not to think about that, otherwise I'll get a bit depressed

I do think that he can coach the NT. it's not like to coach clubs and we all love to see what Pekerman did with the Nt but to be fair with Alvarez, we cannot judge him based on 3 games, right? For me he's one of the best 5 Colombian coaches today and I would love to see him take the NT one day. I would love to see him coahc the sub-20 first, I think he has what it takes to work with the kids and then to the senior. He did great in every club that he worked with.

reasons of why i judged him:

    1. He benched Falcao.....in wcq, when he was on fire
2, he used bolivar agisnt argentina, and the same this arias guy that is sub in nacional...those plyers arent from nt level
    3. rumours say that he was the responsible for the injured of falcao and sanchez, in training when they ask for a difference work.

True, but we also need to remember that he is a young coach with something like 4-5 yewars of experience. I believe that in 3-4 more years we can speak differently regarding him because in clubs level he does well so far.

After the World Cup if Pekerman stays it would be great if Leonel became one of his assistants and the sub 20 Coaches tho I really think Leonel could win something club wise for Colombia

I don't agree. Alvarez has a lot of respect to others and I have no doubt that if he'll get the job to be Pekerman's assistant, he'll take it in no time. I just don't think that Pekerman will want to work with someone that is not from "his people".
