yeah the invisible car in DAD kinda broke the camels back, but i thought Goldeneye was good. TBH i don't think well see a better/realistic reboot than the Craig films. The James Bond series isnt a medium for a really comprehensive script, its more of a fun, hyped, action packed blockbuster you can count on to not bore your uncle with a complex story and dialogue. BTW - If any of you want a great British spy flick, check out the movie adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Absolutely wonderful film, proper mystery, with great production value, gripping dialogue and great cast: Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Tom Hardy, Cirian Hinds etc.
I see there is going to a remake and relaunch of The Terminator Series While I did not care too much for the sequels, which got progressively worse, I do hope they do not make a complete hash of the original with the new remake
ill agree for the most part sequels and remakes are shit, but there haven been some remarkable examples. godfather 2, aliens, and even some that were better than the originals, die hard with a vengeance, army of darkness (TDK is shit compared to BB). as for remakes, scarface, cape fear, dirty rotten scoundrels (love it).
I was talking about in recent times- Hollywood just seems bereft of ideas. I can not remember the last "original" movie I have seen.
Agree. Original ideas are used by small indie films and really don't get the press they deserve. The thing that Hollywood is getting right now is making movies off of book series. But that is a thin line that you can play with.
best original movie in a while? Inception. and while some sequals and reboots HAVE been good, they are the exception and not the rule, and still doesn't mean its okay.
Heres a list of great recent original movies: A Better Life Looper (amazing) Wild Bill A Place Beyond the Pines Robot and Frank Silver Lining Playbook Django Cabin in the Woods Foreign: Lore Intouchables A Seperation Footnote Meserine i think ive voiced opinion before, but i feel the need to say it again! BB was amazing, the TDK and TDKR were shit,
yea, like i said, some of the reboots have been really good films. the batman series being one of the best in my opinion. and the daniel craig bond movies have been superb. quantam solace was a little down, but casino royale and skyfall were both great. i'm also not saying that a good summer blockbuster can't be good. hollywood is just not set up to back originality right now. and if it is original, it's got some really weight behind the project (i.e. director, actors, music).
