    No worries.

Incidentally, the Football League websites are absolutely appalling. They've managed to get themselves tied to it for years too

Hopefully he'll be able to get PT and be fighting for promotion. Being in the promotion battle in 2011 did wonders for him before he ended up falling off.

Having a coach that actually believes in him should also be nice. I couldn't help but get the feeling last year that Lambert didn't care for Eric whatsoever.

I have a feeling this is going to be a big year for Eric. This seems like the right situation for him to show what kind of player he truly is.

Yeah I remember those days of US soccer too. The whole, "the coach just hates Americans" defense.

Where did I say anything about hating Americans? I was just talking about Lichaj. Obviously Lambert doesn't have anything against Americans - Brad has been a lock starter at Villa....

I just hope their other recent signing in defense (Chilean international Gonzalo Jara) is being brought in to play CB and not RB. If Jara is deployed at fullback I'm afraid Forest will try to slot Lichaj at LB, where he clearly isn't as comfortable or effective.

Jara was already at Nottingham Forest on loan since January, and he was deployed mostly at RB.

Gonzalo Jara has been signed permanently after his release by West Brom. Has the ability to play all across the back four, and in midfield, but was used at right back by Davies when on loan last year.

Right but he just joined on free transfer. Transfermarkt has him playing only the first few games at RB, he played CB for the majority of his loan according to them.

Transfermarkt isnt very accurate for formations. Jara played right back almost exclusively at Forest

Their main defence while Jara was there and Hutchinson was injured was: Jara - Halford - Collins/Ward - Cohen

Do you think Lichaj will be a first choice defender for Davies? If so at what position RB or LB?

Not sure. Jara wasnt first choice when he was on loan, Hutchinson started when he fit, which was quite rare. I think Jara might have been brought in as a utility player, due to his versitality.

Think it all depends on whether Davies wants Chris Cohen in midfield or not. If Cohen is in midfield, then Lichaj starts on the left and Jara on the right. If Cohen is at left back, then I'd expect Lichaj to get the nod over Jara on the right. I wouldnt be surprised to see Forest bring in another defender, as Danny Collins isnt the best

I think it'll probably be Cohen in midfield, Jara on the right, Lichaj on the left and Halford and Collins in the centre, though I think they'll also be keen to try and work Lascelles into the defence if he's ready for a more regular starting role.

Well Lichaj didn't exactly help his case when he played this past season. It would be like 1 solid to good game then 2 pretty bad ones. Lambert also bought two backs.

But yes, going to a place where the coach has confidence in you can be huge. Look at Spector. What abysmal his last year at West Ham (for the most part) signs with Birmingham and has been a very solid player for them.

Looks like Lichaj will be a consistent starter for Nottingham.

I just hope it's at a position of strength for him. His ability to play on the left has led to him not playing enough games on his stronger side.

Lichaj got his first start for Forest at RB and went 72 in Saturday's friendly versus Royal Antwerp. Forest drew 2-2. One of the goals was off a corner and the 2nd was a counter attack goal from a Forest corner. I don't know if Lichaj was responsible for either
