Ah yes, a supporter of the Sounders: neighborhood rich kid and buyer of our home-game rights last year. That was awesome (not).

As an Atlanta fan, I would rather stick a fork in my eye than root for the Tampa Bay Rubbish - but I am making an exception on Tuesday. ;)

    Go Rubbish!! (OW!! MY EYE!!)

Just for fun...5Dimes has posted odds on some USOC games (which they call the "USL Cup" for some reason).

As expected, most of the MLS sides are heavy favorites...except for Chivas and DC, which both have positive odds (Chivas is +121 and DC is +124).

Well, they started to. Then they realized none of the fans in the stadium were their fans, and they folded like a lawn chair in the second half.

I just found this thread, and can't get to 5Dimes from here. What were they thinking not putting low odds on Colorado, too?

Blame your owners for that one. It takes two to tango.

Hmm. Looks like the Sounders ain't sh*t when they can't buy home field advantage. Ahh. So satisfying. :)

When I saw Seattle eliminated I had a spontaneous ejaculation. And considering Seattle U23 was previously eliminated as well, this is a good Open Cup beginning!

If you think this is ground breaking you obviously haven't watched RSL play since the CONCACAF Champions League Final in April of 2011. Monterrey was the real team to bring this to light. Since then, teams have had varying success at pulling it off.

I'll give credit to Atlanta, they executed a very good game plan and punsihed RSL on the counter, but to say you taught MLS a thing or two is laughable.

Executed a great game plan? Yes (well almost)
but something brand new? not at all

Not much going on 'round here... But I can't pass up an opportunity to point out how much of a Texas sized @$$ whoopin' we put on the Houston Dynamo last night. To all those who hate Houston - but especially SKC and New England - that was for you.

One of the chants of the night? "Worse than the Astros!" For those that don't follow MLB, the Houston Astros are lucky there isn't pro/rel in pro baseball.

Timbers - you're next. You've got yourself a good little team there, I'll admit. But you still have to come to Texas and play in the heat against the team with the best record in the league, despite a variety of absences and injuries. We know you know you better bring your "A" game as you remember us layin' the wood to you in the past.

Yeah, but Dallas isn't exactly known for having a good record in knockout games at home...

    Ha ha, funny Colorado guy.

For those who don't know, Colorado has owned Dallas in the playoffs. This is absolutely true. Much as it pains me to say it, you clearly have me there. Three times, is it? 02, 05 and 06? Yep, three times the Rapids have knocked Dallas out of the playoffs at home. Two other times (97 playoffs, MLS Cup final in 10) they have beaten us in the playoffs, just not in Dallas.

But this isn't what we're talking about. What we are talking about here is something you guys have usually come up way short on - USOC. Weren't you guys the only MLS team to lose a final to a non-MLS team in the USOC? Rochester in '99 if I remember right.

No, here, Dallas is quite solid when we have a full squad and play for the win - which I fully expect the rest of the way (however long that is) this year.

Not to say we haven't had a few stinkers.

An awful 09 team lost to DC in a qualifying match.

Last year's loss to Charlotte might count if you ignore the first half injuries - the team had to finish with four(?) home grown players on the field?

Now if you go into the way back machine, they lost to the Sounders "Select" in '01 and DC United in the semifinals in '96. The Sounders game was one of the few times where the Burn didn't put out their best side, and the guys got beat by a hungrier team. That '96 DC team was kinda good.

So.... I don't think that is an accurate conclusion. In fact, as El Jefe tweeted last night, "TRADITION! MT @usopencup @FCDallas shut out @HoustonDynamo 3-0 to reach the Quarterfinals for a Modern Pro Era record 13th time #USOC100"

But "well played" on bringing up the Colorado/playoff thing.

We let ya win, cause we didn't wanna hurt your feelings.

On another note, I watched the Rowdies v Timbers game last night. Love the fact that whenever Portland scored a goal, they flashed a graphic that said "Score a Goal, Plant a Tree". Portlandia lives...

I can picture the book for this magical run.

In December 2014 the New York Pancyprian Freedoms qualified for the 2016 US Open Cup, They went on to win the Open Cup on August of 2016 and qualified for the 2017-2018 CCL tournament, a tournament where they were crowned champions on April of 2018 and qualified to play in the FIFA Club World Cup in December of 2018. A magical 4 year run from winning the Eastern Ney York title to being crowned Wold Champions.
