The kind folks at FC Groningen (Dutch Eredivisie) have informed me that Payne has an American passport. He appears to have joined them a year ago after stop at various youth clubs and something (couldn't quite tell what, maybe a trial or a short stint) at Stoke. http://www.fcgonline.nl/index.php?o...io-payne&catid=36:jong-fc-groningen&Itemid=58 Appears to be a defender and a '95. I believe he is with their top youth squad. Here is a video that discusses him among other things. Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDesevio2
Pretty sure Groningen has developed a few big name players like Koeman (both brothers), Huistra and Robben. They also have a really good scouting system finding players like Luis Suarez, Tim Matavz and others. Good find Dave!
This is the player i was referring to over a month ago in the US U-18 thread in youth national teams. just wanted to keep this a surprise till he showed up on a U-18 roster. "Might be seeing an American in Netherlands on of these upcoming U-18 camps. Stay tuned".https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/u18-mnt-to-france-romania-3-15-25.1982539/page-2 I alerted USsoccer about him more than a month ago so, he is already on the radar. His father is the American connection. question what made you think he was American?
He was listed as such on a player database site, but I generally don't publish information directly from those without trying to corroborate it first. Thanks for the info -- do you know who his dad is?
BTW, just putting it out there that he does appear to have Twitter account ---- @TheDesevio2 https://twitter.com/TheDesevio2 I feel weird that I even was currious enough to even search for him!
1 .http://www.google.com/search?client...09,d.aWM&fp=6223b9480d082f1c&biw=1279&bih=612 2. I don't care about that.
FYI Desevio, after being well advised chose for FC Groningen instead of going to Stoke City. No, he is not related to Max Payne.
Some info Desevio was born in the United States in Greenwood, SC. His mother is Dutch and his father is originally from Trinidad & Tobago. His father later became an American citizen. His parents met when studying at at Lander University, in SC. He's doing very, very well at Groningen. He plays several positions but his best position is right back. More to come....
