Following a 3-1 win at LA, the reserves play Seattle on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing the Reserves play at home this year. More soccer!
Now we've seen how our reserve squad looks up against an MLS first team and it's not bad. Looked MUCH more like USL ball than our first squad. Zizzo and Perkins looked a bit out of place because they carried the quality.
Kind of shocked at the reserve squad schedule. One game on a Sunday, one on Memorial day, the rest are on weekdays at 11 am or 2 pm. Kind of makes it rough to go see them.
Memorial Day 2:00 at Jeld-Wen. Timbers Reserves vs. Sounders Reserves. Might include one Roger Levesque... wouldn't that be fun!
They will play Tampa Bay FC with Timbers reserve players. No affiliation. See "Interleague Matchups" http://uslpro.uslsoccer.com/home/690631.html
So do the Timbers reserves players who are on loan at Tampa play for Tampa or Timbers reserve? Why just two interleague games? Is there not a USL PRO team closer that Timbers can play? why Tampa?
It appears you're misunderstanding a few details about the MLS/USL agreement. There are only two choices: [1] Play in the MLS reserve league just like last year AND play two games against a USL squad with your MLS reserves. OR [2] affiliate with a USL team which means you send at least 4 players down to them on loan AND you do NOT play in the MLS reserve league. But you could also be Chivas and opt out completely. Does this help?
Yes. Only four MLS teams affiliated, Union, DC, KC, NE. I believe. The rest will play two games against USL teams.
Christian played in the last game and 4 dressed . Also next week a few academy players will train with the reserves.
Glad to hear , seems that most of the MLS reserve squads are giving opportunities to the Academy players, has Lucas got the call up yet?
Beat Tampa 2-1 watched the last few min's, seemed like a very small ground, Not that i would expect a sell out either.
Tickets are $10 per match. Far too high IMO. Club also does little to promote said games or inform people why they should come. The fact that a "season" ticket is only $35 for current season ticket holders was a single sentence in an email. Don't emphasize the points that its not "d league" or "development" or "amatuer" but is in fact our actual squad playing. Etc. It's taken several years of lobbying from the Timbers Army and more recently 107ist to emphasize more of a focus on Open Cup games versus friendlies in the eyes of the FO. For as awesome as our attendance is knowledge among a vast majority is minimal and the FO does little to help.
FO???? for all the fans who cant get tickets for most games the US Open cup, Reserve team/U23 PDL team give a opportunity to go to game's of good enough standard at a reasonable price. How much are first team tickets when available?
FO=front office The front office does little to embed knowledge into the wider fan base regarding Open Cup, reserve, and U23 matches. That was my whole point. Another example. The U23 matches against our better opponents scheduled at Jeld Wen are on weekdays at like 11 and 12 because the FO would rather partner with Providence and give away free tickets to middle and high school kids and watch them shove sodas and hot dogs into their mouths on what are touted as "wellness" days.
Yes the time does not suit many who gotta work/Study, It did suit me to stream live from Ireland but if their business plan is to increase people streaming in Europe and to neglect potential paying customers living in Portland they have a bad business plan.
Looks like Lucas had been called up for the firendly today against Portland University does anyone know if their will be a live feed for this game?
