In relation to your post Fraser, i'd say, in the admittedly short clips i've seen of them, St. Mirren (and Kilmarnock grumble grumble) play some good football.

They generally tend to play a short and dynamic passing game and tend not to resort to long ball or physicality (Jim Goodwin aside!) to play.

To me, that says that with a good gameplan, well drilled side and astute signings, even with the financial restraints those clubs have; good football can be played.

To boot, some ex Ayr United players on show too. Craig Samson & Gary Teale for St. Mirren. Ryan Stevenson for Hearts.

Fully agree. Now that I'm living in Newcastle and have given up (under duress) my season ticket for Parkhead I don't see as much as I used to. However, the live matches and highlights that I watch on a weekly basis show that there is still some decent football being played in the SPL this season. As well as St Mirren, I've also found the 2x highland teams to be entertaining to watch at times.

Hamilton proved this a few seasons ago when they had the McCarthy/McArthur midfield combo. Unfortunately the main issue is a provincial club can't sustain the success because the better players are signed away as quickly as they appear at times and no club in the country has a conveyor belt of young talent constantly coming through.

    SPL Split details are out.

Motherwekk need to win over DUTD on Fr 19 April to keep their slim chance of catching Celtic alive... but even still, any sort of result against ICT at Parkhead & the Hoops will be champions once again.... Paradise; Sun 21 Arpil. :)
