From their web site it looked like they applied for the new NWSL but weren't approved. So I'm guessing they will apply again in the future. They are playing in the WPSL Elite again this year.

If they are admitted into NWSL at any point in the near future, then they need to change their name. Nothing against the Lionesses, but it's a little too much Gold Pride in the name.

Something hip, fresh, and new, is exactly what Indiana in this league will need.
Something where the fans in the state say, "hey, have you heard of that new women's pro soccer team in Indianapolis", as opposed to, "hey, have you heard of that lower league level women's soccer team that got elevated to a pro team in Indianapolis somehow?"

Do away with FC Indiana, as the name.
There's too many teams named "FC" in the league already.

    But don't call it Indianapolis.
Don't exclude the rest of the state of Indiana.
Call the team by the state name "Indiana", and have a catchy name and logo.

Indiana Hoosiers, and Indiana Pacers, have a lot of merit, as the team name.
Something like that, but of course you can't call them Hoosiers or Pacers.
    Or Indiana Racers, either.

    How about?...
    Indiana Rev

Rev as in revving up your engine.
Danica Patrick would totally sponsor this team.

Indiana Ignition .... would be cool as well.
Welcome to today's game between the Portland Thorns and the Indiana Ignition.
Heck, I think soccer can gain a little additional fan penetration from the nascar and auto racing industry.

A logo, with a soccer ball and and an automobile going fast, would be pretty darn sweet, in terms of impact and it would surely identity with the community through Indianapolis while also resonating throughout the rest of the state of Indiana.

Nice website, so they have their own stadium?

And with being so close to Chicago, they are more than eligible geographically to be in this league.

I think the lack of inclusion may be the lack of depth in ownership. That's just a guess on my part. Not even sure these days who owns them. For the most part they always put a great team on the field. Well, with the exception of last year.

Well that happens when you move up in competition, they were playing vs some former WPS teams.

That and fielding primarily the women's national team of Haiti.

Isn't the number of internationals likely to be a problem under the NWSL rules?

It's doubtful they would try to field the Haitians in the NWSL. They would probably start over under whatever rules the NWSL will have in place for expansion teams.

That's almost too bad. It'd give them such a unique club culture to start with, you know?

They finished 1-11-2 with a -25 goal differential in WPSL-Elite in 2012, playing semi-pro and amateur teams. They'd be cannon fodder against this league.

I'm all for it, and I would also like to see a lot of Brazil players on one team as well.
I would double the league in 2015 and 2016 (4 expansion teams each year).

    Expansion (2015, 2016)
    FC Indiana (Caribbean players)
    Florida (Brazil players)
    Los Angeles
Bay Area or San Diego (total of two Cali franchises, with one being in Los Angeles)
    Toronto
    Vancouver (two Canadian franchises)
Columbus (passionate fans, just look at that atmosphere against Mexico last week, and great stadium)
Atlanta / Dallas / Houston (whichever wants in first)

Those are the 8 franchises they should add. Sky Blue is intertwined with Red Bull. FCKC with Sporting.
Then you can break it down into two divisions:

West: Los Angeles, Bay Area, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Dallas/Houston, Chicago, FCKC
East: Sky Blue (Red Bull), Western NY, Boston, Washington, Florida, Toronto, Columbus, FC Indiana

If they add Atlanta instead of Dallas, then put Atlanta in the East, and move FC Indiana to the west with Chicago.

This would be the ideal NWSL by 2016.
Maybe even experiment by putting a few new Australian players together in Bay Area or San Diego.
Veterans like De Vanna could still play for Sky Blue, but NWSL needs to acquire more Aussie W-League players.

I made these comments on the Equalizer article the other day already, but Shek is a "pie in the sky" kinda guy. I would not want him in the league, especially considering his track record with teams/leagues (WLS has been a mess, and I think folded before the 2013 season - as did both senior FCI teams, as there is no evidence whatsoever that I can find suggesting they played at all this year except at youth levels). Besides, letting any team have a separate set of rules than the others is a recipe for disaster - not to mention such a team would be easily beatable by all other NWSL teams and also probably draw worse than Sky Blue. Right motivation to get the top Caribbean players involved as well, but completely wrong execution.

You will never ever ever ever ever be in a position to do this.

On some planet other than the one we're all currently living on.

    On a mission!
