LOL, so it's true, she can't celebrate with a knees-up like other team-mates because she obviously has no knees. And that's the exact reason why they expressely chose not to give her longer shorts: that don't want to give away the fact that Misa Hanabusa is actually a space-alien girl coming from another planet, and so they try to mask the anatomical difference! :sneaky:

Sorry, but I don't recognize the team... o_O

Thank you. I wanted to see the last goal in particular because I remembered It was a technically nice one. It came to mind because media makes a big deal out of the swedish male players recent goal against England but never mentioned Cecil's against Japan. But yes, his was a lot more dramatic (for lack of a better word).

And yes, that was an exciting game... I remember Sameshimas concerned look as she was watching from the bench...

She must have been full of match adrenaline, considering the miserable cold and wet weather at the match... Gromit06, were you there? Would you happen to have been one of the three Japanese guys who came to the top left-hand corner of the stands towards the end of the first half...?

Girafferunfast uploaded some interesting and/or funny videos on his You Tube channel... :p

they include a longer version of INAC's champagne fight after winning the League in Okayama (Ohno is diabolically evil, and she plans and guides a group-attack against poor journalist Kei Matsubara... :sneaky:) and long, detailed highlights, with interviews, of the last 4 matches of INAC in Nadeshiko League (strangely, the only goal missing from this highlights is Kato's one in Urawa-INAC: INAC-TV censored it because it was too much humiliating for Nakada? o_O).
Also, for Monthly Target, Kei Matsubara interviews Ohno, Kinga and Kai: judging by the thumbnails of other players, the question should be quite interesting, but my understanding of the answers just stops at "So desu ne, ontoni..." :giggle:

On the INAC news, Matsubara says there is a slim chance that Kyokawa makes the Empress Cup.

From the footage, she looks nowhere near to the match fitness. I hope they don't rush her into the game.

I remember you pointed out earlier that there is another player in Challenge league that is of similar Misa proportions. I want to say she plays for Nagoyo. Can you help jog my memory?

Interview with Ohno, Kinga, and Kai.
I didn't know Kinga and Kai were vice captains. Not that means much, still only to know at the end of the season...

    On the defense:
They agree that they were conceding goals from their own mistakes. The lack of concentration was the problem.

    On Becky and Bev:
Their personalities are completely different. Becky pays attentions to the details. She is keen to learn everything and tries to understand every words. Bev has more relaxed approach. What surprised them most was their effort of defense. Especially the fact that Bev's chasing and pressing from up front helped players behind her a lot. Kai says that she told Bev once that she can be a bit lazier on her defense as she puts so much effort.

    MVP:
Ohno chose Minamiyama. Everything she does is for the team. She says she wants to giver her prize... 500 yen (~5 Euro) (laughs).

    Kinga chose a team staff.

    Kai chose Ohno as MVP.
Kai: "She's outstanding both on and off the pitch. She's a treasure for the team."
    Kinga: "She's a national treasure."

Ehime's Ogawa Manami. 144 cm, 36 kg, turning 19 early in December. She started seven of the last eight games, but I think she's been substituted every time, maybe she has to build up her stamina. She told me she's in university, but I don't know if it's the one connected to the team.

Misa is one of only two substitutes named by Nagano, surely she can get on the field at some stage. Nagoya have called up Niwa Kimika (15) to help out in defence. She's the one on the right in the picture:

Nagoya also bring back Takagi, and Kitagawa Minamo is back in defence for Nagano.

FC Takahashi start with the same 11 that lost to the JFA Academy, I expected Yamamoto instead of Morimoto in goal though. Sayama make four changes including bringing in Nara Misaki for her first start, Kiyohara Yuuko for her second start - her previous being the very first game of the season, along with goalkeeper Arima and Suzuki Kaoruko, scorer of five goals this season.

3-0 to Nagano at half-time, they could put Misa in goal and still win. It's the first time they've scored three goals in a match since September 4th, 2010.

Getting ready to kick off in the main event.

Nagano win 5-0 today and 7-1 on aggregate, which indicates just how poor Nagoya are.

1-0 Takahashi. Takahashi's youngest player Muramatsu Mafuyu gives the home side the lead with four minutes remaining - her fifth of the season. What are the odds on it being a headed goal from a corner?

I was right, it was a headed goal from a corner! Takahashi should have won more easily, they had 14 shots to Sayama's 5. Looks like Sayama went into it with a very defensive mindset, eager to counter Takahashi's aerial supremacy. It nearly worked. In fact, it was the first Takahashi game all season that hasn't had a goal in the first half, so I think both sides had a safety first approach.

It's 4:30 pm here and I've yet to have breakfast so nervous have I been. I don't know what I'll be like when I'm at the game on Friday.

I totally agree. I understand that both the club and Mai herself are eager to see her come back to playing, but her complete safety and health come first.
We've seen in Maruyama's case that a rushed rehab doesn't always have excellent results, at least in the short term. :coffee:

Lol, they should have.... half an armband each!

Seriously, though: If we all know about Kinga's importance (and coolness), I guess Kai is a sometimes overlooked player, but she's both a key-player for INAC's defence... and a very pretty girl too! :giggle:

    Quoted for truthery.

Well, if anyone here sometimes reads USWNT or US clubs-themed threads, he should know that Bev, when she was playing for Western New York Flash, was basically an holding midfielder: when I informed some US fans that in Japan she was playing as attacking midfielder or even FW, they were quite surprised, because she had a different career-story. It is very likely that, in her new role here in Japan, Bev has anyway kept part of the mindset of an holding midfielder, and I guess that's probably what Hoshikawa likes from her, that guaranteed a starting place to her. Pressing from upfront by offensive players is a powerful feature (Ogimi, anyone? :giggle:).
The different characters of Becky and Bev seem obvious when you read their respective blogs on the Pitchside Report side: I do quite regularly and I am not surprised that team-mates also noticed those different personalities.
Anyway, I am glad that their contribution is appreciated by team-mates, because I guess they did their part in this season's INAC's victory: there was a little period, when they lost Kyokawa and before the Americans were totally integrated into the team, when I saw INAC as just a little more vulnerable (or less clinical) and lacking some balance. I guess the inclusion of the US girls counted, in the end.

What they say about Sawa that makes Ohno laughs? :p

Well, I guess they should have played much more games with Arima and Suzuki as starters: had they done that, we'd probably be seeing a Takahashi-Speranza play-off right now...

Quote and subscribe that: after they lost all of their fights, including the one vs Nagano Parceiro Ladies, I guess we can comfortably say that Nagoya wasn't deserving playing in Challenge League at all. They'll have to grow a lot if they want to try again next year.

Do you know if in the end Misa Hanabusa actually played any minnutes as a sub? o_O

Well they won, but 1-0 is hardly a reassuring result. The second leg will be a battle (I wonder if Sayama will have a consistent support by their fans: I'll have to check on your site, an_turtar, what were their attendances this season... Although it could change a lot compared to the average, since they're playing to remain in the League now). Do you know if many Takahashi fans plan following the girls in the away match? o_O
The good part of today's reasult is that they anyway won and didn't have goals against at home: so scoring just one goal in the second leg should be enough to seal the match (Sayama should score 3 then, and it doesn't seem an easy task to me).

(Anyway try to eat during this week, ab_turtar: I guess we need you alive... :giggle:)

An_turtar, I see from your blog that today's Sayama captain was (pretty :giggle:) Satomi Shibata: am I wrong or Sayama's captain was a different player in the past? o_O

Hanabusa Misa played twelve minutes today, so that's seven starts and seven sub appearances this year for her.

Sayama's two games in Kumagaya have had attendances of 468 and 297. I'm sure they'd prefer to play in the NACK5, but since the mobcast Cup is so much more important, that's not an option.

Takahashi's fan will mostly consist of the girls' parents as usual, but it's a long weekend so a few more might make the journey over.
