He's been sacked but is still hanging around, making vague threats and demanding more money to leave with his mouth shut. I've not been paying too much attention to the replacement rumors, but Hagi's always in that conversation ...

Their next 2 games may decide whether they qualify or not.

    So far so good ...

    Turkey 0 - Romania 1 (45')
    Goal: Grozav

I hope it continues like this, Turkey has no space to attack and Romania is playing looking for the counter attack with Stancu and Marica up front. Good game of the whole defense (Tamas-Goian-Chiriches-Rat)

    HAI ROMANIA!

I've seen the game in replay on espn3. Romanian team looked good. Mutu on the bench, entered the game in the last 20 min. Tamas played right back, and he did it pretty good. I liked Grozav's play, he seems to fit Marica's style very well. Don't like Piturca's way of coaching, have to admit, but the team looks good now. So, congrats for the win. Next game, versus Holland. A tie would be good.

Piturca may be a coach that people dont like and love but he is the one that has given the best results in the last years.

I agree. He doesnt select the best players, at least in my opinion, but he gets the results, and that's what matters in the end.

Romania -Holland 1-4. Romania had their chances in the 1st 30 min. Torje hit the crossbar at 0-0. grozav had the chance at 0-1. I thought Romania looked pretty good. I've not seen the rest of the game yet. The result is disappointing, definitely. At the 1st goal, it was goalie's mistake, plus the lucky header.

Too harsh of a score for the way they played, at least for what I've seen.

Hungary beat Turkey 3-1. Its gonna be an interesting battle for the 2nd place.

I said in other thread that Romania is going to fight for the second place with Hungary and Turkey, lets forget about that first place (is all of Holland)

Let's also forget about Turkey for 2nd.

This really will come down to Romania vs. Hungary

The new coach will have the task of leading Romania to the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia. The Tricolours have been drawn in qualifying Group E alongside Denmark, Poland, Montenegro, Armenia and Kazakhstan.

The FRF agreed to part ways with 66-year-old Iordanescu after Romania's failure to make it past the European Championship group stages..

They finished bottom in Group A after losing to hosts France and Albania, and drawing with Switzerland.

Romanian media have reported that the new coach will be a German with former VfB Stuttgart, Hamburg and Eintracht Frankfurt coach Armin Veh and ex-Schalke 04 coach Ralph Rangnick the favourites for the post.

The games in the top division (Liga 1) in the Romanian League are scheduled to be completed on the weekend of 5/6 March from what I can see on the internet. I think there are play-off and relegation rounds after that. Do these rounds start immediately after the league rounds end - for example 12/13 March?

I may be in Romania from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 and I am trying to gauge if I can catch a Romanian league game there.
