Thanks for posting this, but I believe there is already a thread about FH that is buried in one of the succeeding pages of this forum.

So have we ever gotten definitive word on if he no longer has any interest in playing for the USSF or if Tab didn't rate him or they didn't want to deal with the indecisiveness?

Seems like an odd move. He started most games for Bayern's u23 squad and by all indications was playing pretty well. I would have thought a BL2 team would have taken a look at him.

Not really, I see this as a move predicated on going to a Bundesliga club where he feels he'll have a shot of breaking in with the senior squad, something that was never going to happen with Bayern.

That was what I initially thought but I'm not clear on the terms with these u23 contracts. Would Hoffenheim be able to call him up to the first team if they felt they were ready or would he have to sign another contract?

Bayern U23s play in the Regionalliga Bayern, which I believe is the most amateur-like of the Regionalligas. Hoffenheim U23s will play against more pro teams, so if nothing else that's an improvement.

Let's wait till he does something till we worry about lobbying him to play for the US.

Then it'll be too late. You lobby and recruit until he's not good enough then nothing lost. Plant the seed now and see if it grows.

    But we're not that desperate.

We don't need to be chasing every fringe prospect with a dual passport. If he blossoms and shows he could help our U23 or senior teams, then fine, reach out.

But right now, there's no need to recruit him because it's not like he's gonna play for Germany and the odds of him EVER being able to do so are not that high. IF - and it's a big if - he gets good enough to get consistent first team minutes at a Bundesliga side, then chances are if he wants to play international soccer the US is his best bet and he should be the one recruiting us.

I guess its the definition of 'recruiting'. Some reachout of possible future relationship and possibilities based upon his growth in his game. We're here and interested when the time comes. Nothing more, nothing less. If you thought I meant fly Jurgen Klinsman out for a meeting and a 5 star dinner I sorry I mislead. You don't treat all girls like crap because there is always a few that blossom the summer of their sophomore years, and you were the only one not to treat her poorly.
    Same concept here.

He would require the old "one time switch" so we can't do any test drives. Always makes it harder to get a player into the fold. He was ready to switch for the U20 WC in 2011, but we didn't qualify.

Legitimate or not, he's taken steps to avoid filing his one time switch to represent us. Seems clear that he's not convinced that's the way he wants to go. That's fine. Personally, it's his choice to reach out to The U.S. now, and not the other way around.

I don't understand your point that he intentionally has not filed the one time switch despite no need to do so. He either hasn't been called in or wants to see if he has any German interest. Both understandable with someone who has options.
