Is Hernandez blind? He could have passed it five seconds earlier, not once van Persie was fully covered

Afellay and Huntelaar in the starting XI for Schalke. GRR why do they have to be playing at the same time as Ajax?

Buttner's crosses were pretty bad. I did not like his tackle in the box of United. Looked wild and a Spanish ref maybe would have given a penalty. It was risky. His yellow card looked also a bit wild. His effort was good. His assist was dubious as I think it was a shot. However he could have watched Valencia ramming the ball hard in the box and doing there the same. I think it was a shot though. His goal was another effort product, mixed with skill and luck. He fumbled the ball past 2 or 3 players and rammed the ball again hard on the keeper. Same as with the assist. I liked his comfort on the ball. I don't lie if I think he is not the least best footballer at United. High balls are easily picked out of the air and neatly passed to the center backs. The action I personally liked most was a good reading moment well into the second half. He sees how a Wigan player is going to make his ball control and where he will end it, gets to that side and easy picks up the ball moving forward. That is what I look at for Dutch NT. Good game reading and proactive behavior. If he starts doing that more at United he can come into the discussion for Dutch NT IMO.

One more thing. Congratulations on his debut for a full crowd. It is not easy and he did not only showed he is able to keep his head together, he even was not afraid to give direction to teammates with his arms and to communicate verbaly. He opened already his mouth. That is a bit of swagger. He was mostly untested defensively today and that is something he will have to prove on another day.

Wow I think I need a calculator to sort out the meaning behind all those negatives:eek:

I think your spot on in your analysis of his game. It's worth noting that Wigan's defense and keeper were extremely poor. I only saw the second half. He had one really nice tackle that I saw in that half (And that's because Wigan didn't really bother his side in that half). There was one point where he looked kind of foolish, but the reality is that since Welbeck was covering the winger, he covered the open man at the top of the box. When Welbeck let his man walk past him Buttner had to rush back in and the man got past him aswell

Great debut by Buttner. First time I watched him playing, and I was pleasantly surprised how physical he was.. not afraid of contact, and played with a lot nerves (especially considering this was his home debut). Comfortable with ball on his feet. Loved his energy, as well. Too early to tell if he will add value to the Dutch N.T. Defensively he wasn't tested a whole lot, but a performance like this hopefully will make him in contention for more playing times.

To do this on his debut (for a club like Manchester United) says it all. He's a lot better than any Dutch LB currently, absolutely no contest. They are raving about him in England and applauding Fergie for picking him up.

But seriously why does he put up the middle finger with Kagawa?

He is a typical Dutch let back. Great going forward, not great defensively. Mind you, going forward he looks better than Willems as far as I'm concerned.

What's going on? Why is van Basten not using Gouweleeuw from the start?
One of the better CB last season..

Nigel de Jong did a proper job today in a game with a poor result for the team of AC Milan. Maybe Seedorf and van Bommel are gone from midfield, but Nigel is taking over from here, which brings me to this pick:

Word is that Emanuelson was not bad either (I have seen the first half, but he did not jump out to me), but if you lose a must win game, the ceiling that has to be broken is changing the game around with your actions.

My point remains though. I think Urby is too light for AC Milan (though I am not sure of their future ambitions and quality level), Nigel should add value there and fulfill the Gatuzzo pit bull role with greater pass accuracy probably. He plays at AC Milan like he has played there already for many years.

Sir Alex on Buttner after the game -

"Alexander was a little bit rash at times but he has a great engine. He is raw and has a lot of rough edges. Hopefully, we can develop that and he will be a really good addition for us."

I really enjoy watching Urby in Milan's midfield. Their midfield really wasn't their problem today though, their problem was lack of quality up front. They really missed Robinho up there. I hope Bojan can find his feet there as they really need it. He replaced Ibra in the lineup at Barca, lets see him do the same at Milan!

I watched the whole game......I like Urby but, I agree with DRB, as a CM or AM his game lacks an edge. Whether it's getting out of bad situations or finding the right pass under pressure, I feel he needs more work. He does a lot of the basic things well but there is a quality/consistency issue that holds him from being essential for the team.

His position skills are bad, even worse than Willems. Don't forget Wigan is a horrible team, wouldn't even qualify for Europe in the Eredivisie.

But he deserves a chance for the NT.

Bojan is the classic example of a kid who tore through all the youth programs and was outstanding. Unfortunately, he never physically advanced to compete at the higher level. He's about the same size as Messi but without the skills (but then nobody has Messi's skills in reality). He can't play on the wing and really is not cut out to be a striker. He is not the solution for Milan (as he was not the solution for Roma or Barca either). This kind of thing happens all the time.

I view Bajan as a striker who needs a strike partner who can also play football. I didn't watch him at Roma but at Barca he would get into all kinds of good shooting positions where he could be passed to but his team mates would ignore him. I think he will do well partnered with Robinho or maybe even Pato.

^ But he's basically the same kind of player as Pato but not quite as good on the ball. I haven't seen any Milan games this year because they are not yet on my cable TV package so I cannot say what kind of formation they are playing. Bojan was really not all that great at Barca when he got on the pitch. When Barca brought in Villa, Bojan was not needed any longer. I think Barca have a buy back this season but I doubt they will exercise it.

I actually think Jozy would do well in the premiership. Both his weaknesses (clunkiness, lack of pace, technically mediocre) and strengths (physique, goalscoring instinct) remind me of Hasselbaink. He's the complete oppositie of the ideal Dutch striker though.
