It doesn't surprise me to learn that the Heritage Foundation basically owns the phrase "skin in the game" meme .
I think if it would be a law that you have to release your taxes then you have to release your taxes. In this instance, he his being branded as a wealthy, out of touch millionaire and the call for his tax returns is nothing but a ploy to say "See! I told you he is nothing like us!" As far as giving his tax returns to McCain or asking for other potential VP candidates, that's not the same thing as it was part of the vetting process and would never have the returns become public. Good points have been made about other potential reasons he may not want to release his returns and they are valid points, but we already know he is super wealthy and has offshore accounts to mitigate his tax burden, like any smart person in his situation would do. I just don't see this as being as big of an issue as the people on the Obama side are making it.
Hey, if there's even a potential he could have broken the law, you're the guy who would call for him to release them, right?
The whole point of transparency is so we don't have to speculate as you are doing. This rule shouldn't be just for those who won't take hits for info in their tax returns - it's for everyone. I'm too rich to disclose isn't a good excuse.
It's not a requirement. If there is enough belief that it should be, then someone should propose a bill. How many members of the house do you think would sponsor that?
I'm still shocked that the Obama birther nonsense has been likened to Romney not disclosing financial information. Every time I think I've heard it all, things get twisted and convoluted even more and more.
I think Romney should release all his tax records, and Obama should release his college records and explain why he applied to Columbia University as a foreign exchange student. Id also be interested to hear why his SSN is from Connecticut when he has never lived there. I also wish Obama would make the health care reform negotiations public (that were supposed to be on CSPAN). It would also be nice for all the Fast and Furious documents to be public record, but now I am just dreaming.
No, I think the better informed the public is on the candidates running, the better chance we have of making a good decision. (Not that most people are going to inform themselves, but more info = better IMO).
No, I don't. But rather than talking about my living arrangements, I'd like a little more information on what I highlighted.
Do you have the appropriate factcheck.org article bookmarked, or are you waiting to see if he comes back before you dig it up?
How big of an issue would this be if it Obama was the one who didn't want to release his returns? Be honest.
Is there a full moon or a mercury retrograde or something going on right now? Because the loonies are really out in force.
Speaking of rocks, time for you to crawl back under yours. http://mediamatters.org/blog/2012/08/07/self-proclaimed-non-birther-hannity-promotes-an/189186
More nonsense. There is a clear difference in the two situations. One created by fringes to install a climate of fear while the other is a question about financial responsibility which is actually a part of the job in question. I am literally in shock the same people who defend the hiding of financial documents support the nonsense birther movement.
I think it's pass day. As soon as the public library closes, Ties and Schapes will be led backmto their respective institutions.
How much someone makes isn't really an issue for me. I do think there are some secrets in Obama's past but those were never an issue for me, either.
