If you want to hear about the plans to bring a team here from some of the principals behind this effort, La Furia Roja 1881/The Red Fury 1881, the new supporters' group, is hosting a meeting with them on Sunday, July 15, 2012. For details on the meeting you must "Like" LFR's page on facebook (facebook.com / LFR1881) and then respond to their "friend" request. Once you've friended LFR you will receive an invitation to the meeting.

In all honesty, I don't understand why they are planning on playing in Peoria. It's easily the 3rd worst stadium (location wise) in Phoenix. Maryvale Baseball Park, Phoenix Municipal Stadium, or Tempe Diablo Stadium (true I-10 rivalry) would have been better. But that's just me.

Peoria will have challenges. Is that the official location?

No, but it is the heavily rumored one. Location has not been finalized and the ownership is in discussion with multiple municipalities.

"Garcia was careful to note that there is not a venue for the team yet. Given the way the bid process works, I find it hard to believe that a franchise was granted without the USL getting assurance that the team had a place to play. Speculation centers on the Peoria Sports Complex, but there would need to be improvements to meet the USL’s standards."

Just cause its in a shitty area doesn't mean it shouldn't be used.

Maryvale's not really a shitty area.

Also, I'd normally surprised that tedski is surprised that a venue wasn't nailed down beforehand, except I'm not surprised on either count, really.

Still, no leaks on the home stadium is surprising, especially for Tedski. I'm guessing some information will come out at the open house.

& aren't Wolves the same thing as Coyotes?

Wolves and coyotes are close, but not the same. They're both canids, and same tribe. The dingo is apparently a subspecies. Dingos would be a fabulous name for a team.

Dingos are feral dogs. Dogs are genetically, really, just really specifically-bred wolves.

Coyotes are genetically separate from wolves.

Though both canids. They're cousins. Most things are genetically separate.

Wolves are bigger and badder but they both howl...Coyotes are "similar" to rodents except they eat cats...o_O

They are no longer looking at the Peoria site. They also wanted to have the stadium deal completed by September 1st, but that goal wasn't realized. & they're in talks with Mesa to play at Hohokam Park.

Its also been revealed that the U of A is going to remove the U of A block A from there headgear, and replace it with a spoon. Fear The Spoon!

Peoria sports complex is gorgeus, go down there for spring training frequently, why would they shy away from phoenix though where the baseball and basketball arenas are?

Because the owners are former ASwho students.
